Hallo Sir Könnten Sie mir sagen ob mein folgender Satz richtig ist oder nicht Ich hatte gegessen, bevor ich zu Bett ging Hier der Satz,der sich auf die erste Handlung bezieht, ist kein Nebensatz. Es wäre sehr hilfreich wenn Sie es mir erklären würden. Danke sehr
I am only a student but I'd like to help you here.Here "ich hatte gegessen" is a Hauptsatz , because it is a clear statement like " I ate / I had eaten". "bevor ich ins Bett* ging " is a Nebensatz . A Nebensatz cannot stand alone without a Hauptsatz or else it would have no meaning. If you go out and tell someone "bevor ich ins Bett ging " they'll be waiting for you to say the rest ,if not it'll never make sense.A tip that i wanna give you is that , senetnces that have connectors in them are most likely to be Nebensa:tze; there are ofcourse exceptions like : deshalb,deswegen,darum.Btw note that it is NOT zu Bett gehen, but INS BETT GEHEN. Hope it helps somebody.
