This channel is dedicated to motorcycles, adventure and the open road. As an avid motorcyclist I review bike related products, honestly from an owners point of view, with a hope to helping other riders out there. I also offer the odd tutorial and throw in some adventures along the way, whether it be on two wheels, or in my self build campervan.

Is it allowed to offer the spare bed in my cabin to someone not happy with his/her reserved seat? edit: to share the cost (hopefully BF are not reading this)
@@DODO-vy6sf I suppose what you do with your cabin is your business but it wouldn’t be an official option via the ferry company. This would be something you’d have to arrange personally with someone, and then your compromising the luxury of a private cabin by having a stranger in there, your then back in the business of being in a shared dorm style accommodation. Hope this helps 👍
Only you could think of doing a battery maintenance video on Christmas eve, but it's still very welcome Toni, so have a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.😁😁😁👍👍👍.
Nice! Happy holidays, cheers! I keep seeing people switch to lithium batteries which seem much more costly, and I personally have never had any trouble with regular batteries and use trickle chargers. Am I just lucky?
@@MotoCurmudgeon yes lithium are lighter and can be drained to much higher percentages. Butto be honest a regular lead acid is fine as you say. My battery was7 years old and had been out in all weathers, so it had done a fair enough job. I’d maybe switch to lithium for my campervan leisure batteries to enable more drainage and weight saving, but not really necessary or fussy when it comes to the bike etc, these are absolutely fine.👍
It's extremely tricky on my Yamaha SCR950 as the ECU sits on top of the battery. Merry Christmas, Toni.
@@1990-t1j yes it’s the same on the street twin. Only a single bolt and a clip to move it sufficiently out the way
Many thanks for the insight … I’m cranky if I don’t sleep so cabin it is !!!!
👍
Hi. I have just fitted an x pipe to my 2019 Bonnie. It is not a job you can do in your lunch hour and is a bit more involved than it looks, but it is doable for your average spanner weilder.
Agreed.
How did you know it was me?🤔🤔🤔
Considered it for half a second before booking a cabin for next June.
Cabin is always so much better that’s for sure. Happy travels
Great review as usual Toni, very thorough - do you think this could be used on a motorbike? It doesn't have to be waterproof as I don't ride in the wet, due to me being a pansy. I like the idea of 1 minute segments.👍👍👍
Great review, that seems like quite a nice camera for the price. Any future plans for more moto trips? That Vietnam trip was amazing.
@@MotoCurmudgeon yeas there’s always trips in the pipeline. Unfortunately though my trips get far less views than products I review (something to do with algorithms). Nothing concrete yet, but it will certainly feature 👍

Great video series. Really informative, and pleasant to watch (so much better than any of the youths detailing their Jasmin easyrider trip). Have you made your day-to-day itinerary available online somewhere? I'd love to have a look to see if I can fit some of the North West into my own itinerary.
@@Oelala879 hi. Many thanks is for the kind words of support. I haven’t written my itinerary down but it you look at the videos on the playlist I tell you where I am in each episode and the journey I did. In terms of the “youths”!you will find Ha Giang is absolutely teaming with easy riders and blasting out music at every scenic coffee shop you find. Definitely see a couple of bits in ha Giang it’s stunning but definitely overshadowed by the scooters everywhere. We made out way from Hanoi north and east stoping at ba bae lake then up towards the Ban Gioc waterfall on the north east and the Chinese border. We did about 150- 200km per day along the border and the very north, until we dropped down to make our way towards the cave in son la, and the dinosaur backbone in ta Xau. With one day to get back to Hanoi which was a killer, but wanted to squeeze as much as we could out of the trip
@@ToniReviews Thank you, I'll have another watch through the videos. The first days of my trip planning already looked very similar to yours, but wasn't sure how much time to spend at Ha Giang. I think I'll do as you have done, keep it short and push on to the regions to the west. I've got 11 riding days + 2 buffer, so I'll have a look how ta xau and son la fit in. Thanks again, great work on this video series.
Thanks for that. Was a little unsure if they meant fully melt the wax or just to a paste.
Fully melt the wax so it’s able to penetrate into the canvas of the garment 👍
Excellent thank you👍

Great review. Like a couple of others have said here. Heat is prob the biggest reason to chuck it, especially in a hot country like Australia. Cats need to be hot to work and here it’s like sitting on volcano! Meerkat here in Australia make pretty good ones and far cheaper for a better product by the looks. The speed twin 900 2022 Euro5 onwards have link pipes to mufflers welded so it requires a cut and weld or finding an updated x Pipe design to suit.
Thanks for sharing this information and glad you found it interesting. The post 22 information is very interesting and probably a big turn off to owners. Thanks for this 👍
@@ToniReviews Motone make one to suit as well so not impossible just not as easy as previous models.
SUPER helpful review. Great work. Thanks a lot!
My pleasure! Glad you found it helpful 👍
I’m thinking of buying the same motorcycle as you have. They’ve changed it slightly for 2025. It’s not quite as retro, but I believe the engine is the same. What is your impression?
@@robiker416B they’re a very simple and easy motorbike when it comes to handling. So light and nimble but with some enjoyable low end grunt, that’s what I love most. Personally I’m not a fan of the more modern twists, I actually really like the more retro styling. Saying that I took a lot of the silver bits and things like lights, levers, shocks, exhaust etc and I’ve modified all those bits myself. They’re great bikes for modifying as there’s loads of bits available out there. Not sure if you can get an ex pipe for the later models? I’ve not looked into that, but to be fair the sound was the only noticeable difference, and you can do that with a nice set of pipes. I’d say go for a test ride and see what you think. At one point I was considering the speed twin, but the overly modern styling put me off . Let me know what you think after the test ride I’d be interested to hear 👍
Thanks for what I feel was a very honest and detailed review. Subscribed!
@@robiker416B many thanks! I do try and give an honest owner’s perspective and hope this helps others if making a decision 👍
@@ToniReviews love your vibe, true self, no masks 😀
Wow Toni, as a born pom now a kiwi I really appreciate your review, I was just about to purchase one at $288NZD after watching 3 positive reviews untill i saw yours. I have had Zumo's for the last 4 years and can 100% agree sat navs have their issues which build up to " i can't be bothered spending valuable riding time to make this work " I already have the Quadlock vibration dampening charging system on my Vstrom which works perfectly. I have just purchased Cygic Premium and am keen to try out. Thanks Toni, you saved me some bucks.
Wow a Pom / No. love to hear how far these videos reach. Yes I sold the sat nav as soon as I got back to the uk. Really did not feel it was worth the money or the effort. There are so many good apps out there that far outweigh the clunky old sat nav’s. I used sygic on a small European trip and it was outstanding, so the pro version I reckon will be amazing. I think phones and apps do an amazing job and the variety out there is just awesome. I recently used an app called REVER, to take the odd twisty route home when riding, and whilst it definitely has some drawbacks, some of the roads it chose, took me on some amazing little routes I’d never before explored. Good luck with the app I think the pro version will be more than capable and far outweigh a Tom Tom. Let me know how you get on!
Update: I purchased the premium Sygic the day I watched your review and now a month later I am very happy with the app. Used multiple times now both in a car and on my bike. I recommend using the Quadlock charging unit along with a vibration dampener. The fixed speed camera function worked well with plenty of notice. Look forward to the future rides with clear concise instructions. Thanks again Toni. Shiny side up, go well. Lance.
Never been on a ferry so im confused if you got a camper van with a nice bed why pay for a cabin or a seat ?
You aren’t allowed to stay in the van. All the levels with vehicles on are locked so you can’t access vehicles whilst sailing. This is to prevent injury whilst at sea as the sea can’t get very rough and cars can move or worse. This is just one of the reasons you can’t stay in your campervan
@ToniReviews oh okay that makes sense it puzzled me as to why you would choose a single seat for 33hours over ur own bed 🤣
This was really helpful. Thanks for sharing.
@@thefearofaflatplanet glad you found this helpful. Also a handy reminder I need to relax my jacket again 👍😁
When the govt. have single energy control over us. When they have destroyed all our coal and oil energy options in favour of weather dependent "green" energy. It will not be anywhere near enough for everything. So.....they will ration how much electric we are allowed to use on a daily or weekly basis. Having an EV of any kind will be a restricted and controlled luxury. Don't believe me? Watch this space...
Totally plausible and highly probable. Thanks for sharing
So it doesn’t have a throttle?
It doesn’t come with a throttle, but I purchased one from Amazon for under £20 and it can be used completely throttle alone if you want (providing super 73 don’t change the app) which is the case with any app based bike
Nice review. Overall I agree with you. For the price you are really not getting much (no dark visor includes for instance) and a lot of inconvenience (wind noise (but not irritating wind noise (whistling)) . The fogging is what bothers me the most. If was another brand I wouldn't have never kept the helmet. But since it's Shoei and its reputation for safety I am keeping it.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree I love a shoei helmet. The comfor, for, design aesthetic, but this just isn’t worth the hefty price tag. I much prefer my ex zero. I rarely wear the glamster at all
I have a set of K60s on my Himalayan,,and think they are really good tyres... Unlike the Kendas that where on before...
Thanks for sharing, very helpful info 👍
A bit of a departure from your normal videos Toni but welcome nevertheless. You're looking a bit red about the face in this one - are you back on the buckfast? Only kidding of course, it's another fums up from me.😁😁😁👍👍👍
It is incredible how watching videos about motorcycles and gear is improving my English language skills. Until today I would have thought that “all fur coat and no knickers” means having a time of my life 😁
@@matusknives 😂
Cool factor, I get it.
Part of owning and modifying a bike is definitely aesthetics

Great video! I upgraded to Brembo SA brakepads and new brake fluid. It is a massive improvement. Still the long brake line to the ABS pump in de rear of the bike is not great, but I can live with it.
@@omega_profile1 hi. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for the comments. Very interesting I may try these pads on my next brake pad change. Definitely the fluid makes a massive difference 👍 thanks for sharing
Hello. Thanks for the review. Does it have inside speaker hoels for intercom?

Yep its pretty much done. Sorry for the delay, but kife has been extremely hectic with work. Its all shot and almost edited I jyst wated to add some finsihinng touches. Should hopefully be out in the next 2 weeks . Sorry for the delay and thanks for the interest :)
Fitted one to my 900 triumph scrambler .started it up and petrol everywhere spraying out from under tank .took the booster back off still spraying petrol. Anyone had this problem or is it just a coincidence wear and tear on a 14 year old fuel pipe
@@michaelcoates7068 not had this issue or heard of this. Sounds like potentially a problem with the pipe. Just check it’s not rubbing against anything or touching anything hot, or compromised in anyway. My wiring loom on the headstock was getting chopped, which was a common fault for the model and year. It’s had a recall. Maybe check the model and year of the bike to double check if it’s something that happened for that year of bike. I know they changed the wiring loom issue after the recall on my batch.
Cheers toni for that ill look in to it thanks @ToniReviews
What about muc off snow foam?
I’ve not actually tried the snow foam version. I think most of these cleaners do contain quite harsh, but personally I haven’t tried that particular product.
Hey there! I really enjoyed watching your videos. Great info. Could you please let me know where to take the shortcut for the bamboo raft ? Really appreciate.
Thanks so much. The adventure was amazing and the videos took ages to edit so I’m glad you enjoyed them and found it helpful. The bamboo raft is on the DT217 crossing from Cao Bang into Ha Giang. You cross the song nho que river. Hope this helps .
@@ToniReviews Thank you so much. That really helps. Have more adventures. Cheers!
I would never ever travel on that ferry without a cabin, trust me I know what I am talking about.
@@daviddoyle5291 many thanks for the comments. I’ve also done a fair bit of travelling in my time. I’ve been to quite a few far flung corners of the earth and generally like to embed myself in the culture and get around as the locals do. There’s definitely worse ways to travel. Not having a designated cabin isn’t really all that bad, and if travelling alone and on a budget it’s definitely a solution for anyone looking to save. Again if travelling in a camper van, once you pull off the ferry you have the luxury to pull up and have a kip whenever you fancy. The video is designed to help people who may be on a budget and what to expect if they go for the seat only option.
I paid for a cabin - then went down to my van to get something, absolutely nobody in sight, could have easily just slept in there in hindsight!
I would have loved to have slept in my van. I actually went down to the lower car deck where I was parked at one point to get something from the van but the doors were locked. I think it’s a safety measure stop people going to their vehicles. I think it’s because it reduces the risk of people getting injured if cars move in rough seas or risk of fires with people turning car engines on etc. I’d love to have stayed in my van but didn’t fancy getting locked down there should something happen 👍
I always assumed that if your van was on the outside deck that you could stay in your van if you wanted to. You certainly can on some ferries but different operators may have different rules. I’ve been on this boat and was very happy to have a cabin, the value on a 31 hour crossing is beyond compare to a short crossing. If the price is a big issue, then the seats are not bad, but a cabin is always going to be better,
Is the straps removable?
Not 100% sure but no I don’t think the strap comes off completely.
Thank you so much for this Video , you don't know how much this has helped Fantastic 5*****
You're very welcome! Thanks for the lovely comments. Very much appreciated 👍

Most definitely. In the spirit of things I even made an impromptu banana flambé and ice cream combo for a bunch of people around the fire pit which went down a storm. Looking forward to meeting up with all the new faces . Thanks for a great event.

I just come off a tour. A little tour to Wales, Cornwall, Devon etc and back up to North Yorkshire. I reset my 550-Rider before going because it was misbehaving but it didn't solve the problems. My 550 turned on and off whenever it felt like it (only for 4-5 seconds but at a junction or roundabout you don't need it). Told me to be left before a roundabout then told me to take the last exit (turn right). Didn't adjust quickly after an instructed maneuver into the next (keeping direction arrow beyond the move, adjusting too late leaving me stranded in the wrong lane). A couple of times it took me off a motorway and back on it. Wasn't clear about what exit on complicated roundabout systems (no close-up window). Absolutely last second telling me to turn. The arrow disappeared below the screen view a few times. The image turned sideways randomly for a few minutes. Nightmare satnav that cost me a fortune to mount it without their ugly as sin mounts. I'm ditching it. Only used it for three holidays
