Barbless hooks? Even in California you are allowed to use barbed hooks for halibut and sole.

The pods should be fastened on so that they are tipped up at the back about ½” from the bottom plane for optimum performance. The boat may porpoise if they are tipped up more than that. 👍

Well my friend, what my dad and I use is a butter knife with swivels on either end and treble hook. Better then that expensive crap.just saying. Pulling up 35lb + fish

I don't know if you still have this boat, but all those cracks around the transom are caused by severe rot in the wood coring of the boat. The stringers are probably the same way. If you land hard you could split the hull and sink it. I hope you have a new safe boat by now.

A lot of guys here have a distaste for greenling here, say they are mushy and don’t like the fact they count as part of your daily rockfish limit. Kept one once and it wasn’t a bad beer batter fillet.

I like your line reel, it is a better one than mine, where did you get it and how many 400' lines will it hold? Already looking forward to next year!
