In secondary school,I used to learn by rote. That is, I'd write out my notes again and again in the name of jotting down until I completely memorized it. I used to spend all day studying then. In 100level (first year) I did that as well. However in 200level, I realized it wasn't feasible. I couldn't keep re-writing my textbooks in the name of 'jotting' so I began to try other methods. Recently here's what I've been doing that has been of help: When I'm reading a study material, instead of writing points from that material,I write out questions. For example,instead of writing "The rotator cuff muscles are the subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus and teres minor" I'd write "What are the rotator cuff muscles?" At the end of the study,I try to answer all the questions I wrote down and anyone I'm not able to answer, I search for the answers. That way I actively interact with the knowledge , thereby strengthening my memory. You can also try to answer the questions as a form of quick revision before you begin the next study. Try this out and let me know if it works.

Some days ago I was watching a documentary of one of our fathers of faith - Apostle Joshua Selman and I found myself saying; "Lord I do not love you this much." Forward to a few days later,I was in a meeting where we were being taught from John 21:15-17. The doctor who was teaching used The Amplified Bible, Classic Edition. This version actually helped me see things in a whole lot different light and I'll be quoting it as we go on. You know from scripture, we learn about the distinct characters of people. Take John the Beloved for example, He knew Jesus loved him and he took a lot of (necessary?) pride in that fact. Then we know Peter. Assertive, Hyperactive Peter. The one who finishes Jesus' statements,jumped into walking on water with Jesus, slashed the right ear of one of the soldiers who tried to apprehend Jesus, (please correct me if any of these details are wrong,I'm writing off the top of my head) The same Peter promised to never deny Jesus come what may, and He did. And now post-denial, our dear Peter wasn't so confident anymore. In John 15:21, after His resurrection,we see Jesus asking: " When they had eaten, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do-with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]?" Peter didn't answer the same way Jesus asked, take note of the words in the bracket. "He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]." Jesus replied: "He said to him, Feed My lambs." A second time, Jesus asked again: "Again He said to him the second time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion, as one loves the Father]?" Peter answered again: "He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]." Jesus replied: "He said to him, Shepherd (tend) My sheep." But if course -if you have noticed - Peter was not answering exactly what Jesus was asking,He was answering how He COULD. And Jesus asked again: "He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, instinctive, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]? Peter was grieved (was saddened and hurt) that He should ask him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [that I have a deep, instinctive, personal affection for You, as for a close friend]. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep." Finally! Jesus and Peter were now on the same ground. Each time he had to re-ask, He 'came down' a bit. His goal was to meet Peter at the level he was. So, even if you feel like you cannot sacrifice your life for Jesus yet -like I often do - my encouragement for you is to STAY. Just stay with God,spend time with Him at the level you are and watch Him do HIS thing. Okay? God wants us to want HIM above everything else and He'll work with us to get there. So,stay. Jesus loves you. He just does. PS: so I finally found use of this video clip, didn't I? PPS: I'm home for the Christmas holidays. November was.... November. 🌼The highlight of this month was a plan I took on the Bible App 'Dreams Redeemed' . It actually HEALED me in a lot of ways. If you use the Bible App, please check out that plan. 🌼I wrote my first ever med school test in November - Community Health 1st CAT. 🌼My Physiology test was postponed to December. 🌼I had bad toothache due to a growing molar and discovered an almost forming cavity in the same molar which was 'nipped in the bud'. 🌼My Class of CMDA arm went for our primary school outreach. CMDA= Christian Medical and Dental Students Association (Nigeria) 🌼I had life threatening period cramps. 🌼I 're-discovered' my blood group during our Physiology practicals. 🌼Ohhhhh I was born in November as well, I almost forgot that. Next month, 📍I want to continue enjoying reading the Bible and being Jesus' friend. 📍I want to study harder and smarter. 📍I want to read more books too. 📍Then I think I want to make more videos with my friends and classmates in it.
