I love how the detail of Brandon writing a novel indicates that the reason why he's unemployed is not because he doesn't want to work but rather, he's spending all of his time with his novel that he's trying to publish but is currently unsuccessful, but if he does get a publisher and it sells well, then he was basically self-employed and a freelancer the entire time, technically not unemployed.
