    I also like the British accent (not the American one, that's for sure) And, probably, I like even more how the British spoke 40-50 years ago. This can be seen in old movies and TV series. The accent of the older generation has a special charm and charm. He is very expressive. I understand how difficult it is for a reader to pronounce names with a French accent... But sometimes she does it! I also found fault with the Russian version of the radio show (which I really like). Vasily Livanov's voice plays the role of Professor Dowell's head. The performance turned out to be very successful and musical, although it is an abridged version of the book. But I criticized him a little for one small nuance: for the fact that Dr. Ravino's last name is pronounced with an accent on the second syllable. While it is correct to pronounce it on the third syllable. You need to speak correctly, with the emphasis on the letter - "O".

  • @user-pt1in6wk8h
    @user-pt1in6wk8h 3 месяца назад

    A small note: Here I heard that the name "Thomas" sounds in English. In the original of the book, the name sounds in the French manner - "Toma". Without the letter - S" (with emphasis on the last syllable. Stress on the letter "A")." And some of the names are Angelica Guy. (it is more correct to pronounce them as they say in France. The charm of the book and the certainty of the place of action depend on this. France in the 20s. At that time, France was still a fashionable and attractive European country for romantics. For this reason, Belyaev chose France. Of course, I understand that the book is in English and that the entire channel is dedicated to books in English. still, some words still need to be pronounced according to how it is written in the book. Belyaev's original Names and some names are underlined with French pronunciation. It is important. This is my personal opinion. I'm not imposing it on anyone. The mood still depends on the pronunciation. Otherwise, everything seems to be fine. A pleasant female voice reads!

      There are two translations of this work. Both are by non-native speakers of English. One translation was made back in the USSR, the other (which is presented here) - about 10-15 years ago. Probably the nuances you noticed were not that important to the author of the translation.

    • @user-pt1in6wk8h
      @user-pt1in6wk8h 3 месяца назад

      @@Lish_English These are nuances, mostly phonetic (and have an emotional connotation. Otherwise, everything is very close to the original. Even if I (with my meager knowledge of English) understand and recognize every action. I'm listening to your version, for the third time. So far, I've made a move, stopping in the middle. There is strange magic in your favorite books. Even if you know them thoroughly, it still gets warmer and more comfortable when you hear it. It's like cassettes with your favorite movies or music that you never get bored of, and that's why you keep them at home. While many other cassettes, CDs, or books, you have long since thrown away, donated, or sold. So that you don't clog up with used junk and an unnecessarily cramped apartment. But... But in the life of probably every person, there are at least a few things that you will never want to part with! They become part of your family, part of yourself. You can't figure out for yourself what it is about them... you don't just love them, they seem to grow to your soul and skin.

    (I know English at the elementary level of the school curriculum, but I strive to catch up on lost knowledge and learn foreign languages better) This helps to learn English better. Because I know this book by heart since childhood. A very interesting effect occurs. Even without knowing more than half the words in English, I can still “guess” scenes and conversations in the book. Without any effort at all! Because this is my favorite book and I have read it many times. From the age of 11. And that is why, listening to a book in English, it begins to seem to me that I understand more English than I learned! This seems unusual and surprising. But everything will be explained!
