tldr: they were told this was a horrible idea and they did it anyway. then they quickly found out why it was a horrible idea. Kelowna is not Vancouver, they have actual bedrock to build on.

COST OF LIVING! IF you are NOT wealthy, you can NOT afford a good life in the Okanagan / Kelowna.

I only go back to Kelowna now for Costco and then I escape as soon as possible and always before 2pm if I have any hope of getting across that underbuilt bridge. What were they thinking with only 2 lanes northbound and even 3 lanes southbound doesn’t cut it during rush hour.

Cons; Insane traffic with no highway bypass and no second lake crossing. Real estate prices regardless of what interest rates are available. Housing simply is not remotely affordable. An almost reliable summer of smoke every year from all the forest fires in BC. The large population of homeless people making it very uncomfortable to spend time in the downtown core. Pros; Beautiful scenery

This video has no reason why you shouldn’t live in Kelowna. The title is deceptive in a fun loving way! I know people that have left Kelowna, for all the drug and homeless people problems. My mom’s garage got broken into and expensive tools stolen. Not to mention their house was broken into, and their valuables stolen. Their house was cased

What's the plan here? If the parking is going from four underground levels to two, what will they use to make up that two level difference? I presume some if not all of the excavation has been completed to four levels deep. So, one giant concrete slab two levels thick? Or back fill and compact? I dont think that is possible.

I was looking for a drug addict to help me with a few things around the house. I looked everywhere, kijiji, Craigslist, shopping malls. Almost gave up searching, and then boom...went to Kelowna one day, and there they all were. I was in heaven!

Kelowna is about to become a 15 minute city where you might have what you basically need but try leaving your 'zone' to work or see 'your' hair stylist, doctor or even children This is not a drill. Better speak up now.

I lived in B.C., I won't go back, EVER.

You forgot to mention the out of control homelessness , drug use and crime !!! Emergency room wait times up to 10 hrs , and crowded hospital hallways with beds . So my advice is to any one thinking of retiring in Kelowna to do in depth research !!!

Kelowna is overrated and overpriced. The only reason to move there is if you want milder weather than the prairies but lower housing costs than Vancouver - you're just going half way in both categories. There are many better options if you're willing to leave Canada, which I have been recommending lately.

Overall a fair and accurate explanation of Kelowna. Minor things; the temp range in the summer is more like 25-35, not 30. And it should be noted that there can be a dozen or more days where it gets above that range. Winter has lots of cloud cover that affects people's mood. Cost of living, you could also add that property taxes from the City are some of the highest. Regarding the homeless issue, it would be prudent to add that this leads to a lot of theft crime. But again, these are all minor. The vibe of the city and ability to do almost anything in the city or area, all the sunshine; these are the main selling points for Kelowna IMO.

I lived there for 9 years in the upper mission and was robber 9 times I left moved away because of the crime

I’ve lived in Kelowna for 5 years. It’s beautiful and there are many things to see and do. However Kelowna is a very expensive place to live and there are not many good paying jobs here unless you’re sent here for a specific job. Places to rent are far and few between with one bed apartments going for $2600 a month if you can even find one. It’s a beautiful place to live if you can afford it… unfortunately that’s a rare occurrence for most. Most people who move here are retired, or work online. I consider myself very lucky to live here.

I am/was a major proponent of the tower and giving Kelowna a REAL downtown core with high rises, offices, shops and schools but not a the expense of damaging properties nearby especially ones for people with fixed incomes in an economic boom for some/crisis for others... I hope all these issues can be remedied and quickly for everyone's benefit...

Kelowna was fabulous 50 years ago!

Kelowna is a terrible place to live now. it was great back in the late 80s early 90s but things are nothing like it used to be. Even the weather was better back then. and we didn't have a "fire season"

Relentless gloom in the winter and weeks, if not months of fire smoke in the summer. Nobody seems to talk about smoke season.

It’s just endless big box stores and new homes, nothing special.

Has a beautiful lake, if you can see it past all the drunken Albertans and their boats.
