Girls and boys was a brilliant post modern commentary and the lyrics are actually in some ways better than Live forever which is more of a straightforward songsters song. "What is a wonderall anyway?".
Girls and boys is such an incredible song, I really like it because the combination of the synth with the guitar and drums makes me feel relaxed. Live versions of the song are incredible too.
I don't like Blur but that song is catchy. I think what Liam might have been angry about is that Oasis were very clearly working class and rough around the edges whereas Blur were very middle class and comparatively well mannered, and the music journalists were almost all middle class too, so they would give Blur glowing reviews anything they did, even the crap stuff, but always looked down on Oasis no matter how good they were. It must have been annoying. I have similar frustrations in my own life having been surrounded by middle to upper class types who consider themselves to be the aristocracy and so love to look down on and bully anyone that feel doesn't belong. I also have Aspergers which makes interacting with people extra difficult. I love Oasis first few albums and I was never really at all interested in Blur, they have a few songs I quite like (3-5) but I always thought they were very annoying as people. Oasis are rough around the edges but are also very direct and honest which suits rock music very well they had a hell of a lot of passion, but Blur have this smirky aura of I'm only doing this ironically sort of crap which I think fits with the middle and upper class social ladder climbing bollocks where you constantly adjust who you are in an effort to fit in and raise your status. I just found Blur so irritating and everyone I've met who was a fan of Blur had that same kind of personality, they are hipsters. If a person likes Blur (except for Song 2) that is a red flag that they are probably a hipster who reads The Guardian and says things like Farm to table and talks about the conflict in the Middle East and doesn't like Adam Sandler movies (even Happy Gilmour!) bunch of wankers. Fuck Blur! Oasis Rule!
@@vi0letcr1meDon't know about that 'cause i love happy gilmore and Blur. The members were jerks but they've course corrected after the band ended and well, ain't jerks anymore. I'd suggest taking a look at their albums 13 and Think Tank. They're really brilliant records. I personally don't think any of their records are crap, some are better than others 'course, but no real big stinkers among em. As for a lack of passion Battery In Your Leg from Think Tank is some of the most passionate shit i've heard in me life and also one of the best songs i've heard, you can tell it actually hurt emotionally to record. There's a live performance of it from right before they broke up and i damn near cried at it.

When it’s live it all just blends together and makes a racket also there’s a lack of effort live from blur Damon in particular he just looks like he doesent want to be there. That was in the early performances but by the time he realised he had to take it seriously his voice was already done in
When I was a kid, I used to like Oasis over Blur cuz I think they sounded heavier and Blur’s, especially Boys and Girls sounded like a trashy eurodance beat. Only as an adult did I appreciate Damon’s songwriting and Alex’s bass lines and I realised how repetitive Oasis’ songs were.
