I would not let my puppy growl at me without a clap and a sharp no...he is not allowed to tell me no.

My 14 week old growls when meeting new people or animals. I have been trying to figure out how to address this

American Temperment Test Society is run by pro-Pit hags who cheat to guarantee the Pit passes. They allow the the dog to go thru with a special "handler" instead of the owner and they allow the dog multiple attempts to become familiar with the test. It is true the Pit is more of a type than an actual breed cos they have been cross bred with so many other dogs. Go to a shelter and try to find a dog that doesn't have Pit in it. Good luck. Pit bulls are not vicious...TRUE...until they ARE. The Chihuahua will bully that Pit until the day the Pit decides "no more". Then the Pit will not just walk away...it will kill the little dog in a second in a most vicious way, latching on and shaking it like a rag doll. Bullhocckey the small dog is scarier. They can bite like any other dog, but they can't mangle you. True, Pits do not have locking jaws, but once they latch on to something, you are going to have a damned hard time getting it to let go. They are the only dogs that need BREAK STICKS to pry their mouth open again, or either choke him off which doesn't work as well. They breath just fine without letting go.

I’m having the same issue I have a 10 week old English bulldog he growl n snaps if we pick him up n I have small children I’m terrified he’s gonna be aggressive

The problem is also when people think there’s such a thing as a “happy growl” and don’t realize the dog is communicating discomfort and anxiety. If your dog is growling during bathtime, you need to turn baths a positive experience through incremental steps/rewards, just like human anxiety. Too many dog owners don’t have the patience for that kind of training, though.

I’m struggling this right now with my 10 week old puppy who growls when he is picked up or held or handled. Especially growls most at my four-year-old who just adores him, but like all little kids loves him too much.
