Another busy couple of weeks, and the new slab is poured! The new lounge room is now at the same level as the rest of the house and all the rotten timber is gone! No more moisture issues. Coupled to that I have been renovating the driveway with the mini excavator in preparation for top coating of gravel and rolling/compacting.

Gday mate. Does the transmission need to be supported at all during the driveshaft removal or can the shaft be completely removed without touching the trans? Cheers
Transmission crossmember is not touched so the transmission is secure in its normal position. No need to support it.
What's easiest way get back in manual vy SS pushed front allway in put bracket on centre bearing no room for rear doughnut to bolt back onto diff, surely there's a trick ,front 1st all way
@Homebrewwhisky I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're asking. Are you saying the tailshaft appears too long? If so, are you sure that the centre bearing ( I assume you have replaced?) has been properly seated? If not properly pushed all the way in, the tailshaft will be longer than what it should be, causing you issues re-installing it.
If by chance you have serious issues cause nothing works cut the bearing carrier remove the Centre bearing race you will now have enough room to fit a plate and used a good bearing puller screw holes fit bolts and press the two shafts apart
Good plan
Thanks for sharing
No worries, thanks for watching and commenting!

Did the sharp edges on the sheet metal shift lever wear out the white boot (bolts to tunnel) with sharp corners?
Just a lot of kms I think
@grayzbildz I'm mean on the new one. I'm about to fit shift kit but wonder if it will cut the boot as it's plate not round like oem
@alexrenault3620 sold the car about 4 years ago cobber so can't tell you. No problems on my Monaro that has had a proper ripshift since 2004.
Great. Cheers for the response! Saves me turning up an adaptor.
Is this or the bigger fan better?
Wanna cone and do mine mate?
Wow what a job. You are a very patient man well done
@andrewnewman1248 37 years in the Military teaches patience. Lol. Thanks for the feedback
Just wondering have vx commodore wagon is it easy to change the brake pads also do you need to bleed the back brakes
@brettguthenberg1872 vx wagon is exactly the same and although if you don't open the hydraulic fluid system (I.e disconnect a calliper from a brake line) you don't need to bleed them, I always like to put new fluid through. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, or in other words absorbs moisture out of the air. Once moisture is absorbed, the brake fluid boils at a much lower temperature. Brake fluid should be changed at least every two years. Brakes are a safety-critical item and if you're at all unsure about doing the job correctly, then please leave it to someone experienced. Hope that long-winded reply helps! Cheers, Andy
Great video matee, it certainly was a dream come true week at the fantastic show of our beloved Monaros 😍👌🚗👍 That home cinema room will be THE location for boys nights watching our fav video clips and movies 🍻👍
Thanks mate
Bought mine and it died 12 1/2 months later. Probably used it 10 hours absolute max. Just doesn't switch on now. Sydney tools wanted me to send a video as proof that it doesn't switch on. I told them that would be pointless but they said it's policy. As it was also a few weeks out of warranty they said to ship it back east as I bought it online and they'll have a look at it and they may or may not fix it. So I told them to get stuffed. I still have it here a few years later. Obviously something simple is there is power going to the unit...
Does anyone know the internal dimensions of the big drawers? Long shot! 😂
I'll measure them next time I go to the shed.
VY clubby. My cover is hooked in with wires What's that about if you know? Thanks
Doesn't sound standard to me but I'm no expert in upholstery
Hey jus wanna ask was it hard to put a t5 gearbox in your vz or did it come with it already?
T56 6 speed is standard in V8 VZs, not T5.
Hi @graybildz, at time 6:19, you said the center bearing is worn out and will cause the drive shaft to bounce around at low speeds, does this mean that when you press the brake, it will cause it to make a rattling noise of some sort?
@@dariussigamoney3466 hmm, interesting one. Manual or auto? If manual, I can't see that is very likely. And even if auto, I don't think it related. Have you checked the brake pad thickness? They often have a backing plate that rattles when they are getting worn. Hope that helps. Cheers, Andy
@@grayzbildz i appreciate you replying back to me, braking components check out fine, it's a manual commodore. This issue I have occurs when braking only, I'm just trying to look at all possibilities because suspension components do not have any loose ends and i have taken the braking components apart and nothing seems out of place. it is real mystery to me
@dariussigamoney3466 do you get any rattles or clunks from front end? I have found in the past, sway bar links look and feel fine when inspecting but cause some weird noises and can under braking as well.
@@grayzbildz so the sway bar links were recently replaced about 2 months ago. the noise does sound like the front. but after removing and disassembling the caliper, no issues were found. its hard to find the problem. I can send you images and a video of the sound?
@@dariussigamoney3466grayzbildz@gmail.com
Can see you are doing some great work renovating. and I love to see these videos Brother
Thanks Sis
It’s coming along nicely Andy!👍
Thanks Tony. One step forward.....
I think driving up a gravel driveway is one of many pleasurable and welcoming parts of a home where it can be done.
Thanks mate. I get a lot of satisfaction doing it myself, the original quote to redo the driveway including new part up to the shed was $13k. I bought the digger for $15k and did it all myself along with the services for the shed, redoing the septic line and storm water line. Once I'm done, I'll still be able to to sell it for more than $11k! A good investment
The slab where the door is, does that have a slight drop to the front so water runs off the front and away over the edge?
Yep asked the concreter to put that in as those doors do get some direct rain often.
Wow, that looks gr8 mate. Don't you love the smell of concrete setting? 😍👌 Driveway work is excellent, can't wait to see it in person 🍻
@@MrConspark thanks mate. Another step forward.
when you shake it is there a clang ringing sound from the drawer locking mechanism? mine has this sound
Yes most of these types cabinets have a steel bar locking system, I think that is the noise you hear. If you turn the key slightly, putting some tension on the steel rod, the noise should reduce. Cheers, Andy
Yeah, mine has that annoying clanging sound! Did you suss it out?
@ollyfp if you already have one, why do you need someone to measure the drawers?
@@grayzbildz Haha! Well, I'm out of town and I'm looking at drawer inserts! Should have measured first, but that's the way I roll. 😅
Another big project, Andy. That will be a nice addition!👍
@ChipsAndSparksGarage thanks Tony. This retirement gig is busy!
Wow that house certainly gives more and more everyday 😯 Good to see an update, I need to check it out soon in person. Maybe a stay over and Bathurst day TV watching soon. Cheers mate 🍻🍻
I’m looking into making an office chair with a vt commodore chair do you think this would be possible with how the chair is underneath? My idea was to mount it to a base on the office chair do you think its possibpe
@jakemcmaster3902 yeah for memory the base mounts are fairly flat. Cheers, Andy
@@grayzbildzhey Andy I got a chair finally but the bolts that connect the chair to the rails seem like a socket won’t work it looks locked in with a huck bolt and in awkward spots to access do you know what I should do to get around this

Excellent video mate, definitely came in handy when doing my own SS seats. Cheers!
@KRALOS that's great to hear and thanks for the positive feedback! Cheers, Andy
In desperation I took it apart. It seems the mechanism is the same for Active Lock and OFF Lock. The Mechanism is not smart to position the pendulum in its zero postion but shove it as far as it can go to one side. Its a shocking design and totally useless active Lock feature. No wonder DETROIT Cross Line Lasers cannot be found these days as a new item. Prob gone bust. Glad I only paid $25 AUD for it on ebay back in 2018.
@mikebloodworth9258 good job.
Mine has 2 lock positions. one for OFF and transport. The other leaves the laser ON. I cant find DETROIT Cross Line Lasers now on the internet or any user manual.
Ok. Sorry not sure mate.
I just purchased a Detroit Cross Line Laser. My main gripe is once leveled and lock switch moved to lock it pushes to laser off its calibrated mark. Is this normal? I wanted to project a line perpendicular to a 45 Deg Plate.. Secondly the Mode button does not seem to do anything except light the led by the button. Any ideas?
I believe the lock switch is only to stow the laser gyro assembly for transport and storage, it's not meant to be used whilst using the laser. The lock actually stops the gyro from working and therefore accurate laser levelling. Hope that helps.
Beer has IPA instead of XPA Brother xxx
@grayflix5849 good pickup sis. Will correct.
Good ome mate 👍

Good review! nice size but the noise has put me off
And fair enough too. I love my screw compressor.
Hey mate, bit of an odd question. But I have the same trolley that I had built in to a set of cabinets and I’m moving house so I want to put the wheels on but I’ve lost the bolts and instructions haha. Do you happen to know the bolt size? Tried a m10 bolt I had but it doesn’t seem to like it. Thanks
@ak101clan hey mate. No I'm sorry I couldn't tell you and unfortunately I'm about 5000km away from home at the moment for 3 weeks so can't easily check sorry.
@@grayzbildz no dramas at all mate, thanks for the quick reply. Off to the hardware store for a look!
Thanks for your video .., gave me some guidelines I didn’t do it exactly like you I did it out of a vice … someone had done it before on this car .. I’m doing amd my guess was it failed non-genuine … I would if anyone does this get the genuine centre bearing as it’s an integral part I paid close to $70 for genuine there are cheap ones for about $30 … however bring a driveshaft don’t muck around… I will add as well … this car I’m working on came up with powertrain warning .. RAA roadside came along mis -diagnosed this as coil pack .. I tested coil packs as they were not that old … powertrain warning also is to do with unbalanced driveshafts … can be transmission .. so I took car for test drive clunk clunk clunk then drove it further put my foot down at a higher speed clunk clunk clunk .. powertrain warning at the same time … don’t be misled by people on youtube saying powertrain is coil packs
@iamasmurf1122 glad the vid helped. Good pickup on the genuine part. Cheers

@@MrConspark yes it's not bad at all.
nice job, black looks good on the Monaro. I was sooooo disappointed we never got a Monaro on the "VE" platform, would of looked sex with the pumped guards.... similar to the A9X. What could of been hey...
Thanks mate. Yes there was a bespoke VE coupe built, but not by Holden. It looked really good. Thanks for watching and the kind words. Cheers, Andy
Thats exactly how i started. The following steps are. Your Doublegarage is too small for all you Tools/Maschines/Restmaterials. Then i needed to build a shed with the size of my double Garage to move the stuff. To get room/space again to do Work Project. Your jobs will get bigger and the Doublegarage wont have enough space for the heavy Maschiny. So you need to build a Workshop. Thats what i m now doing. Since 5,5 years. It took so long because i dug and dig out a basement under the Workshop for storage and utilites. The work never stops, the projects get bigger and bigger. The numbers you dealing with get bigger and bigger. Last Month i bought Concrete for about 9k€. Or spend 16k on a CNC. There are a lot of Tools i only used once. But better to have and no need. Then needed and not have.
You are a man after my own heart cobber. Love your work. Cheers, Andy
Do you have to get it rebalanced?
No as long as you take note of the orientation of the two pieces of driveshaft i.e. draw a line on the shaft prior to disassbly and ensure it goes back together the same way. Cheers
what if the bottom shock part does not want to come out? I removed the bolts (top/bottom) but the shock from the bottom doesn't want to come out - its like they are sealed together somehow!!! do you have any suggestions?
Pry bars on either side I'm afraid. Dirt and moisture gets in there and sometimes seizes up. That why I always use grease or anti-seize when reassembling. Good luck!
Love the logic Andy, will get the missus to watch this👍. Oh wait, I am still working 😔
Good reason to stop working Blue.
I like your logic, Andy!👍
Glad you understand my logic Tony.
Wait what? You say that you have no money when I suggest a new tool? Oh its all already invested in TOOLS! mmmmmm tools. I like this! Its a new direction, almost 🤣🤣🍻🍻
Definitely don't have a lot of money, but yes I have invested in tools over many years now and i certainly couldn't afford to have paid some one to do all that I have done so far!
