Hi there, I'm Adam and I'm just what the Internet needs; another failed filmmaker now making a go of it "critiquing" other people's attempts at art.

Happy New Year from Schlock Horror!
Gwyneth paltrow is gross 🤮🤢
You idiot nobody wants to hear your ugly voice say something they want to watch the movie they don't hear you stupid voice
The bus plan didnt list us huh? Thats what you shouldve asked him. ME, DOKTA PAAVEL HERE AND ONLY ONE OF YOU!!
Columbo statue!
Jose fererr is awesome, but this episode is not of my favorites
SO many favs, but this and Last Salute to Commodore are possibly the best.
You have left me Hungary for more.
The killers in this episode are playing bad actors good actors playing bad actors. I should say so it’s kind of hard to walk a fine line with trying to act like a bad actor because I’m one hand congratulations you’re acting bad but on the other hand, you’re in trouble cause you’re acting bad. It makes sense. Why some people find this episode to be a mess while others find it to be a hit for one am the latter. But I still love your review for your take though. It’s very interesting and it kind of gives me a new perspective of the episode.
OK, a murder in Malibu is great for all the WRONG reasons, but I will say this Peter Faulk in that episode that you will eventually review in the future (and by the way, take your time with it no rush I’m not one of those guys) acts his butt off in that episode while the other two main characters in that episode leave much to be desired for lack of a better word and that’s all I’m gonna say about that episode until you review it and again take your time there is no rush
My grandmother actually laughed at the part where he was strangling his own wife and the phone started ringing because of how tense it was it was kind of like a what’s next scenario I remember the summer after I graduated high school I binged watched like crazy a full box set of Colombo starting with this TV movie
I always got the feeling that Peter Faulk got jealous of Roddy McDowell in certain scenes for stealing his thunder I could be wrong about that, but there were certain scenes where I genuinely thought that Peter Falk not Colombo himself was kind of getting irritated at Roddy McDowell just because he kind of out him in certain scenes again, Peter Falk and Roddy McDowell are very talented actors and are sorely missed, but that’s just the impression I got from the episode
My grandmother said the same thing with the nosy landlord that this RUclipsr said the exact same words “ Nice of Columbo to get a taste of his own medicine for once” rest in peace grandma you are always missed and loved
The cabin was owned in real life by Cassidy's wife at the time. Who I believe was the mother of david cassidy. It and the store are on the ?North shore of Bear Lake California.
I have to say I don't really get that why is the ending weak?
I was never too annoyed by this episode. Considering all the mania for english mysteries, it was fun to see columbo there, in 60s england. I also think that Richard Baseheart and Honor Blackman are lengends. Blackman was Hera in Jason and the Argonauts. 60's sword and sandal Gold.
It seems rather that, the scientist played by Ferrar was haphazardly trying to confuse the crime scene, so it looked like he hoped someone would not know what to make of it. Another possible explanation is, Ferrar's character intends to make a chaotic mess seem natural, while a straightforward set of planted clues would look intentional and suspicious. SO that it would be written off as uexplained rather than they bought whatever picture of the murder he was portraying. Even if the police were unable to establish an explanation for everything, it still would confuse things enough so that he was not an obvious suspect. This could one might think be in line with that he is an aloof scientist and as usual, arrogant, like most columbo villains and also, he is a scientist. An actual scientist deals with confusing information every day, so uncertainty is not something they do not expect or in this case project on others. The way the episode plays out, however, one would suspect he was arrogant enough to commit the murder, and he felt arrogant enough that simply by trying to camouflage or provide this mess of distracting evidence over the murder he would then conceal it, and at least get away with it. The mess wouldn't be pinable on him. As usual, we've seen many attempts to disguise a murder, in columbo, columbo then finds a detail which seems meaningless to the killer but which links him to the murder. And to add, importantly: He's also supposed to be an egotistical scientist who, in the stereotyped way, is extremely intelligent in science and his field but has lacking practical or other types of intelligence.
The very first Columbo episode I watched. Of course, Falk is brilliant as Columbo, great plot, probably the best ending of any TV show/movie etc., but what I thought was genius was the zoom-in shots of the characters in various paintings, now witnesses to a murder! It's only fitting that the paintings were crucial in unmasking the murderer. I can't help wondering if the opening sequence could have been used by The Twilight Zone franchise or similar where the character in a painting, having witnessed the murder, somehow changes (along the lines of The Picture Of Dorian Gray) and a brilliant but flawed detective (on mind-expanding drugs, along the lines of Sherlock Holmes) picks up on the subtle changes in the painting to bring the murderer to justice.
I assumed and I could be wrong, the implied motive is that Hanlen thinks the kid is a total wastrell and he's standing him in the way of effectively or in fact taking over the company, the sports team that is. He does the work there obv. anyway, but, he is planning to usurp the main position there.
And wai is tät, huh
Colombo's dissection of "maybe she was dead already" deserves a round of applause from all over the world.
nice
One of my favorite episodes
Great review....keep it up
Speaking of Poker Face at 13:46, what do you think of the fan theory that Charlie Cale is Lt. Columbo’s granddaughter?
Joanne Linville best known as playing the Romulan Commander in Star Trek
Gotta hand it to Columbo. He’s the only man in the galaxy to take down both Kirk and Spock😂
1:41 social distancing and wear a mask😂😂😂😂😂
0:38 “Come at me bro” 😂😂
11:29: “Bloodstains on the carpet”. Perfect 😂😂😂😂😂
It takes a special actor to make a stuck-up, self-centred murderer be likeable and sympathetic, and Pleasance achieved that. His chemistry with Falk was unbeatable.
To really understand how jarring it was for a 1970s audience to see Dick Van Dyke as an arrogant wife-murderer, imagine if today we saw Tom Hanks playing the killer on an episode of Poker Face. (Which would be awesome.)
You know I've watched a bunch of these things and you made the same mistake that the others did what he says when he's talking about the admiration of that woman is very important about how he thinks that nobody would commit suicide he doesn't understand it and you missed that point that's one of the most important points in this series is how he doesn't believe anybody would commit suicide everything's a murder
Do you know the name of the actor on 9:01? I'm sure i know his face and i can't remember. And things like that make me crazy. thx :D Edit: it's Victor Campos but tbh i actually think he just reminds me of Anton Chigurh somehow :D I checked his roles and nothing rings a bell.
Wow, she even looks like Krabaple!
An awesome series ive watched dvery episode it's fantastic!!! Columbo rip aka peter Falk 😢😢😢😢😢
I don't know why, but Robert Culp was so damn sexy in this episode, especially when he wore a denim. 😍
I dont love this episode but i absolutely adore that after Elizabeth comments that everyone babies her because of her wheelchair to columbo, his first clue is re-establishing her timeline of events over the cameras. It may be reading too much into it but it does feel like he wants her to regain her agency that she clearly lacks in her marriage (which is reflected in a later scene where she tells her husband that she wants to become the CEO of the company)
Thanks for these well wishes. My mental health is lagging kind of. I am the Columbo junkie, or at least was.
Hope you're OK brother sending you all the best 🙏
Thank you so much for this Schlock Horror! I was in the middle of a complete psychological meltdown at McDonald's until I saw a new upload of yours and knew you would make my day 😊 Mental health is truly important guys!
Why does columbo now live alone in a cruddy apartment? What happened to the wife?
How the hell would Columbo know that the commissioner would look at a file on his desk in order to go and plant evidence there. Quite an improbable scenario
Good episode but overrated I think. I don’t know why Columbo was so sympathetic to the killer in this one either. He was possibly the craziest most volatile killers in the whole series. We know that Columbo hates the cool premeditated killers the most but I don’t see why that should mean being sympathetic to a batshit crazy egomaniac that killed his own half brother over wine and was probably gonna wind up killing the secretary too. Even without that, it’s still over rated.
I agree with the list. I would definitely include somewhere in here the episode where Bruce has amnesia and Batgirl has to babysit him and fight the penguin.
My favorite “gotcha” of the series.
Love this movie fun and creepy
I always regretted never watching this one - may have to give some of these episodes a spin!
Padding the episode is annoying
I always thought this Robin was supposed to lead into the teen titans show. I don't care what cannon says!!!
will probably make a future video about this exact topic tbh
interested, would recommend
