I remember there being more fire 😅
The courtyard king!
This was not 1997 - it was 2000...and it was part of a live show with Pete Tong.
I was one of the first people in West Belfast to have Mitsubishi's around 1993
It’s difficult to overstate just how big Oakenfold was in the mid to late 90’s.
Best club in the country and in my home town. Love it, every week without fail
Awesome nights at the nation with 2 years of oakies residency
This isn’t 1997. Timo Maas - Ubik was released in 2000.
Loved going to this place
Amazing crowd!! He's playing Timo Maas - Ubik btw which came out in 2000 ruclips.net/video/xw2Os6L5BKs/видео.html
hes playing "ubik" - surely this aint from 1997
The best room in the country, at the time... ☮️💚🏡🎵♾️
Was there lol. Buzzing again
Ubik great tune
This is NOT from 1997 this is from 2000, it was broadcast live on BBC2.
Courtyard! Hes only warming up... taking out larger heads as my mate used to say!
Oakenfold was awful technically, butchered many transitions, but always played the right track at the right time. Not gifted technically.
thank you for sharing this. I flipping love Cream 1995-1997 I danced and sweat but most of all I had a huge smile on my face as did everyone!!!!!
Freakin sick ass transition!!
Can anyone remember the name of the after club that opened just over the road from cream for a few years?
Pleasure rooms
Eden.
@@andrewdempsey6924 yes that's the one!!! Thanks 👍🏼
Courtyard!!!
Mint ;) Wish I could have made Cream in Liverpool :)
Excellent post mate, Insee your comment below regarding the year. 2000 or 2001 I think as he played Ubik. Takes me back to that old club feeling that video, thanks mate ♥️👍🏻
This is 2000
PLease can anyone tell me the title of the whole track he did was over a hour long this was part of it, I loved this! been trying to find it for a while now, all I can remember was cream or creamed anthems
These new high-tech, sprawling venues, paired with the ecstasy-induced worship of music, elevated DJs to almost god-like status, creating the world’s first DJ “rock stars”, the likes of Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, and Paul van Dyk, to name but a few.
After asserting itself on home soil, Cream expanded to form Cream Ibiza, extending its legacy to the world’s most notorious party scene. Although it neglected to hold a residency on the island in 2019, Cream is still one of the longest-running club nights in Ibiza, having hosted parties at Amnesia since 1994.
I was just reading the history of trance article you pulled this from
But perhaps no brand is more synonymous with 90s trance than Cream. Founded by James Barton, Andy Carroll, and Darren Hughes in 1992, Cream began as a platform for house music in the UK at the now-demolished Nation nightclub in Liverpool. As musical tastes changed during the 90s, so did the bookings at Cream, which brought in Paul Oakenfold- one of trance’s originators-as resident DJ throughout 1997 and 1998.
this video is not from 97, Ubik theme is from 2000. Mistake, wrong Date.
I was at cream almost every weekend from mid 1998 to 2001 had some party's in there and went through buckets of mitsubishis great days! The club scene doesn't even exist anymore
Haha... mitsubishis... i was there from 98 - 00 most weekends too. And yes the mitsi'
Ha ha ha Brilliant comment - MBS
Me also :) what a atmosphere
is 2001
Nope it is 2000
This is my church....
I’d have been in the crowd somewhere in there 👍 happy days
when people danced at clubs. Happy memories of the best club ever.
And not a mobile in sight! just having fun... top nights out!!!
Awesome
1 DJ and 2 decks that’s it. No bloody MacBooks or software.
no digital software sorting that pitch out. i even like the mix running out of sync and him pulling it back together using his skills. im starting to hate these pristine mixes where no pressure is felt fading the next tune in. i question if many djs even set their pitch or press the button to do it using cd based set ups? Lazy if u ask me
Better than all these shitty sounding trainwreck mixes though Oakie was well known for being terrible, theres many a studio recorded set to prove it, let alone countless club sets broadcast on radio 1 that all these years later that sound attrocious. You actually want to hear records out of time? crikey. Why should it matter if people are using sync or not these days, it should be about the music, not the method. Unless like you, people enjoy hearing someone bring the next record in completely out of time not properly beatmatched etc. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Agreed you could tell DJ'S a part not just by music but also mixing styles, you could feel the dj through the mix.
The better quality the equipment has gotten the more boring the music has become in dance music. Hence why there are so few decent/interesting djs these days - in the 90s/00s every dj had a style the way every guitar player did. Now most of it is pre recorded chunks of sound synching to the visuals.
Like it! Putting the graft in using records un like the current crop of djs. authentic set x
Perfecto
First tune?
Dumonde - Tomorrow
Fantastic time to go Cream. remember it well. Week in week out on the Guest list,
Can't believe how much I feature in this clip, I seem to be everywhere 😂
God how I wish we had had HD footage and full 2 hour live streams of this era.
this wasnt 1997 this was 2000 i was there it was a free night for the tv, everyone got a free ticket as they walked out the weekend before this was on a sunday night.
Makes sense. He was playing far better music in 97
Dumonde just showcases Oakey at his very best; ubik is just messy annexe madness
Back room, Zoo bar,was the best!!!
Oakley was boring.PAUL BLEASDALE , LES RYDER well better
that 1st tune Dumonde - Tomorrow (DJ Jam-X & De Leon Remix)
