Charles Bridge (Karlův most) is one of the most iconic landmarks in Prague, Czech Republic. Spanning the Vltava River, this historic bridge connects the Old Town (Staré Město) with the Lesser Town (Malá Strana) and is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
Commissioned by Emperor Charles IV, construction began in 1357 under the direction of architect Peter Parler and was completed in the early 15th century. Built from sandstone blocks, the bridge rests on 16 arches and is adorned with 30 baroque statues and sculptures, most of which were added in the 17th and 18th centuries.
