There are multiple ways to do it. When they are completely rusted out like these, I use a drill and wire brushes. With less rust, I use salt or chainmail.
Tornado damage

We had a close call with a tornado recently. If you watched our shorts, you may have seen what we saw. Apparently we had some damage from that storm. Neighbors to the west and east had no damage. I'm guessing it went right over us.

I have read that if the bi metal strip on the bottom of the fan is discolored it means it was over heated. If it was it won't work as well as it should. Apparently you can buy service kits that include new bimetal strip, motor and Teg from the uk. I'm gonna need one of these. As mine is definitely discolored and i just recently broke one of the wires going into the teg.
Wow,I'm waiting for episode 3.
@@MarketerAshikqur thanks!
good morning huys and great job so far on the deck build. I would definitely run two rows of bridging AKA blackout off the front of the deck in a row of the back of the deck just measure it out so you got two even rows and that will actually help stiffen up the joists from getting sway in them. but other than that guys phenomenal job. y'all be safe God bless hopefully you don't get hit with the storm real bad and looking forward for the next video
That was my plan, but forgot about it, and by the time I remembered, too much would have to be undone to do it at that point.
Yummy
We have several!
What’s your latitude and your year around as well as winter tilt? Don’t you need an angle meter?
We're about 35.5 degrees north. I just adjust it a couple times a year. We've had the panels for a couple years now, and I just eye ball it based on shadow angle. Would an angle meter make it more accurate? Probably. But this seems to work.
@tnthomesteading ok. Im currently taking a PV installer course and was told that the winter tilt angle is latitude +15 deg. That would be about 50○ tilt.
@@flowyscreations that's probably pretty close to what mine may be. Pretty sure it's slightly above 45 degrees.
Hey buddy hello to you and the wife on the homestead here's an old Carpenter's trick grabbed a pair of pliers turn the unplug the song slide to the guard up grab the blade with a pair of pliers take a wrench or socket to tighten down the blade. So far so good you looking pretty good man. Can't wait to see part 2 you guys have a blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family now
Thanks. I'll have to give that a try.
you know. as a 45 year old oklahoma boy. i dont specifically enjoy my vegetables being grown in china but. i suuure wouldnt mind me a cast iron pot from what ever country gods green earth cast it from : ) now. i would rather spend my fist full of dollars on a good ol american iron but. iron pots arnt as scary as chineee veggies. Tulsa. Okalahoma. 35 years. Nagoya japan for 10 years. good luck out there ol' buddy ! I just started learning to cook with cast iron heavy pots and pans myself. i absolutely love it. i never wsa much for understanding cooking. but once biden and harris got ahold of the economy, ive learned to value every fkn potato i can put my hands around .
@@RobCardIV yea, I love cast iron, and we have several, just no small pans till these. We were excited!

I always have. not sure it's really needed, but only takes a moment so I don't mind.

@@davidsingletary2227 thanks!
Wow?! Didn’t realize it got THAT close! Knowing the elevation changes around y’all, it really surprises me that a tornado could get into that area. Glad y’all are safe & have plenty of firewood to start on for next year.
When it came through, we knew it was close, but until that walkabout, I had no idea how close it was. My guess is it wasn't on the ground or the damage would have been greater. We're thankful it didn't get any closer. And yes, once I can get to that, we'll have a great start of next years firewood! Just got to find the time.
Hello . Glad to see that you're attending to The sheds getting everything cleaned up looks good and I got to say man that is an amazing old-school pot belly stove. I actually have one inside my house and don't work it's not operational have the size of that smaller. That was in my grandmother and grandfather's cabin up by lake George New York. And when I had it hooked up in my shop a couple years ago and he's nicely and you can make a nice pot of coffee on it. And heat up some food. Well thanks for the video good to see you guys are getting ready for the winter God bless have a good week.
yea, we're looking forward to getting that set up. Other things first, but every little step helps. We both love old stuff, so when we got a chance to get it, we couldn't pass it by. If I could have one my grandparents had, I would love that, if it worked or not! Enjoy!
Good morning Buddy. Hope all is well with you guys . Glad that no trees hit your inner structure on property. And yeah you got some work going on there but look at it this way you got some timber firewood. And yes God was watching over you guys. God bless be safe enjoy your week guys
Yes, very thankful nothing hit any or our buildings. I'm happy about the firewood for next year. God was absolutely watching over us!
Ouch. You used far too much thermal paste. What you want is maximum metal to metal contact between the aluminum aluminum heat sinks and the two sides of the Peltier junction device. What the thermal paste does is fill in the tiny cracks in the aluminum heat sink. The thermal paste should be spread evenly and as thin as possible. The thermal resistance of the paste is much higher than the thermal resistance of aluminum which mean using LESS paste yields the best thermal conductivity. www.google.com/search?q=too+much+thermal+paste&tbm=vid What you are trying to do is maximize the DIFFERENCE in temperature between the sides of the Peltier junction device. The larger the temperature difference, the more voltage is generated and therefore the faster the fan spins. You can measure the two temperatures using a type-K thermocouple and a DMM (digital multimeter) that has a thermocouple input connector. For example: www.flir.com/products/ex470a/ An optical InfraRed thermometer will work, but it will be difficult to obtain stable readings. An IR camera is probably best, if you have money. For reference, I just measured 127C (261F) on top of the Peltier junction and 137C (279F) from below. That's a 10C (50F) difference in temperature. I would not expect your measurements to be very close to mine, but you can use my numbers to see if you're in the ball park. You can also measure the RPM (rotations per minute) of the fan to see if you're making progress. An optical tachometer: www.ebay.com/itm/126687363108 I'm using a Voda VDSF624B, which seems similar to whatever you're using. www.voda-tek.com/product/vdsf624b/

Good afternoon Terry glad to see you and your dad had a good day fishing it's a nice catch enjoy your eat. I always used to love going crabbing and fishing with my dad. But that was over 30 years ago.
We've gone on this trip for several year now. Until a couple years ago when he passed, my grandfather (his father-in-law) went too. I love going fishing with him every chance I get. At least a couple times a year (crappie most the time, but trout once a year). Enjoy the memories. This year, I was reminded I don't know how many more of these trips I'll have with him. Many I pray.
I can't even tell you I have my original framing hammer which is a rocket it's got to be 45 years old bunch of ass swings some Craftsman's. Unsure what brand you were specifically referring to when you said the "smaller" $35 fan. It was the one that worked the best I believe. I would appreciate a clarification. Thank you for your video.
@@AmyLDCCX sorry about that. The Voda brand worked the best IMO.

Thanks! It's been a yearly tradition for some time. My grandfather (mom's dad) used to go with us till he couldn't do it anymore. It almost didn't happen this year because of a hospital visit, but we made it!
I’d love to fish with my dad again
Yea, If things had gone differently a few weeks ago while he was having a procedure done at the hospital, we wouldn't have made this. Thankful for the time I get to spend with him.

the green mulches better than the dry
@@JohnWick-xz9tc yea, I've heard that
Yes same thing happened to me with old seeds they didn't germinate...
@@FidelGonz I knew there was a chance they wouldn't, but I expected some to. But nope.
Seeds on super super mature fruit are likely actually finished. If collected from an immature plant, they might not be fully mature themselves. I wait till the seed pods of other things are starting to break open by themselves. Have to watch for it, but works for me.
Good to know. Seed saving is new to me.
Of you scoop them out and put them on the paper towel, the seeds will absorb the nutrients from the meat of the tomato and have a better chance of tasting the same as the parent plant, if not, better. I have had great success with this method.
@@wolverine13557 good to know!
Never heard that, but could happen ))). Think it will work with apples?
@@katehenry2718 i can't say 100% for certain because fruit trees tend to be more difficult compared to tatoes. I would have to say it depends on how much nutrient is absorbed from the fruit by the seed itself.
This seems hard for me to even believe, but it happened. Two days ago I planted bok choy water and set it outside and I was totally shocked. Today is the third day and they’re all up… This seed is amazing.

Your enclosed garden design looks great. I may need to rethink my large enclosed garden. When do you think you will start your garlic for next year?
@@wolverine13557 thanks. Deer are a thing! 🤣 I'll probably start garlic relatively soon. By end of September probably. It's a bit earlier normal. Want to see if it makes a difference
Scrolling down my subscriptions feed and I appreciate that your videos are not a half hour long. Makes the decision to check in a bit easier. How long have you been growing the Cherokee tomatoes? I have been saving tomatoes seeds for years, I just squeeze or scoop the seeds onto a sheet of paper towel, spread it out and let it dry. Once dry, the seeds stick to the paper. Just rip the paper into tiny pieces with the seeds still sticking when you want to plant. I just roll the paper towel up like an old scroll while we wait for the spring.
Thanks. I'm not a fan of long videos. I don't have the time to watch them and I figure others are the same.
This will be the first time saving seeds. Thanks for the tips!
Good evening bud. Thanks for sharing this with us looks good. Hopefully you guys are having a great holiday weekend .i have a question for you. I heard that you use vodka or everclear is there anything else you could use when you're doing your herbs that don't have alcohol in for like people like me that are sober living? God bless and have a safe week
@@TimandLiamsEastcoastkoillc my understanding is tinctures use alcohol. But dosage is in drops. Like 10 to 20 drops in some water, so it's not like drinking. I know most over the counter cough syrups as well as vanilla extract also use alcohol. I do know you can make elderberry tinctures, or syrup's, the shelf life is better with the tinctures. Also, with the mullein, you can make tea. So depending on the plant, there might be other options.
@@tnthomesteading good morning buddy and thanks for sharing this with me. So it's like pretty much like the amount of alcohol that would be in like call medicine and all that I get you. So then you call helps extract the herbs medicinal value into the water then? I want to start looking into it it's my wife's brought it to my attention. And most of the people I see that do it. Says it's all due to alcohol. So once I seen that I never looked into it any further. Thank you so much for getting back to me bud enjoy the rest of your day
@@TimandLiamsEastcoastkoillc it's very little alcohol. I'm just learning. Some can work in teas, so water works for some, but that would be in an as needed basis. The tinctures can be shelf stable for years (my understanding)
@@tnthomesteading gotcha on that I want to start researching more now since we talked
I have been hauling firewood in the pickup. Fill the bed, drive, empty the bed, stack the wood. Repeat. I didn’t even have to split it. I know you are working hard. If the electricity ever goes down it will take the furnaces out with it, and firewood will be invaluable.
Our stoves are so small, we cut it down for them.
