This boss is really biased on weapons, so using Str weapon did make your play harder. At least it had pierce dmg. Curved sword would have been worse.

You should check out final fantasy Renaissance. It's a fan remake of this but with extra playable classes like death knight, dragoon,summoner, and more. Also some of the regular classes have some extra features. It's pretty cool. Thief's can find hidden treasures, warriors can do a war cry that ups all allies physical attacks for 2 turns. You can also run/ walk faster while exploring. It's not even a rom hack it's a pc played .exe file. Fun stuff

Now that you've uploaded your completion of FF III, I can finally say this, "Fuck Final Fantasy III." The Crystal Tower is so egregious it damn near ruined the game for me. It's definitely my least favorite NES Final Fantasy game but I will say the Pixel Remaster makes it considerably more enjoyable. Granted, I played this in Japanese long before I knew Japanese but that doesn't excuse the poor design philosophy behind the Crystal Tower. Watching you play through that dungeon again without checking off every little box the game wants you to do before fighting CoD was giving me PTSD. Brother, I saw so much white during my playthrough that I went plaid. That was a Spaceballs reference for those that don't get the reference. I do agree with you that, from a game play standpoint, FF III is the best of the NES trilogy but even going back and replaying "better" versions of it afterwards it's still a low-tier Final Fantasy game, for me. Also, I totally agree with you that if there was a Final Fantasy that deserves a remake it's Final Fantasy II. Congrats on beating FF III and I'm looking forward to your FF IV playthrough. Personally, I'm excited for you to get to play Final Fantasy V.
