    Rogues are fine. This came out before the Ranger video. You could dip into Ranger for Hunter's Mark and get that d6 back that your spending on cunning action.

    The bread and butter of the wizard is their spell selection not their features. We won't truly know until we see what spells they changed and what ones they didn't.

    1:19 All life(with few exceptions) is connected to the force but the typical person has far to weak of a connection to the force. Many who are recruited to the jedi and(through some ritual) has their mind opened to the force still despite having more than twice the typical midichlorian count can't properly use the force even with training and get jobs outside of the temple. Those with high enough midichlorians still vary in power due to midichlorian count but also because of training and may have specific talents as well(thus determining their job in the jedi order) but your midichlorians determine your potential.

    Wouldn't Zorro be a swashbuckler rogue? that subclass also uses charisma so it makes sense also mario and luigi would fit as mainly monks because unnarmed strikes(jumping on enemies) but mario dipped in paladin and luigi dipped in cleric

    Can you make a One Piece tier list of what class the character would be. There are some easy one for example Robin is clearly a Inquisitive Rogue, Brook is a Spirits Bard, Franky is a Armorer Artificer, Jinbe a 4 elements monk, Nami is a Storm Sorcerer, Chopper is a Moon Druid, Usopp is some kind of Ranger(I don't know if theres a subclass that excells in plant themed spells more then other) and Zoro is a Samurai Fighter but what about Luffy and Sanji. Both are unarmed fighter but Sanji is portrait more like a Paladin and for Luffy the Astral Self would be perfect for him but due to his personality I would rather go to a beast Barbarian. But there are a lot of characters who can be in multiple classes

    Honestly as someone who genuinely loves the warrior fantasy and likes warriors over magic users I can say that these changes will barely change the overall feel of the game. Magic is still better and due to how many spells there are you honestly don't need martials for 5e Spells of 3rd level and beyond are so much better than anything a martial can achieve and modern 5e promotes shorter dungeons and less encounters meaning it is near impossible to fix the game and make being a fighter in a party of level 7+ players feel fun since by that point you will realize just how much stronger your caster friends are as they take down mobs of foes, charm bosses, or keep you from death repeatedly. I have said this a few times but this game is so magic that not having magic makes you a joke. As a setting there would simply never be knights of foot soldiers since they can be wiped out with fairly low level spells turned into undead to then face their own friends.

Obviously the weapon mastery helps but I keep feeling like this isn't properly a new dnd edition bc theyre barely making any real changes that they definitely should be making

    This list having Artificer yet missing Wizard, Ranger, and Rogue, as well as Falcon being a warlock of the US Govt. is hilarious. Also I'm team spiderman is a monk, Extreme mobility and dexterity, close quarters fighter with no real armor, his webs aren't actually from his powers, and one of the monks abilities is literally to run on walls.

    It is worth noting that Epic Boons aren't unique to Fighters. They are a class-wide replacement for the Feat/ASI at Level 19.

      @worldwarlock They're basically epic feats that can also take your stats beyond 20. One of the examples from the playtest is the Epic Boon of Speed, which increases Dexterity by 1 (to a max of 30), movement speed by 30, and the ability to disengage and end both the restrained and grappled conditions as a bonus action. I don't know if this will be in the End Product, but it should give you an idea of what to expect.

      Hmmm, not sure. I don't feel like we get to see a lot of his character in the MCU so it's hard to judge but maaaaybe he'd be... A sorcerer... Paladin? Idk he's tanky, deals a lot of damage and flies but didn't exactly work hard for his powers, he just had a smart and rich friend

      @worldwarlock Oh, happy to explain! There are some fans of older editions of D&D, especially the 80s Basic Sets and 1st Edition D&D, who have created "clones" of those editions to keep them alive while they were out of print. Since then, the scene has grown and there are a huge variety of games and adventures for Old-School gamers. The core culture of play is to rely on "rulings over rules" as the systems are much simpler and smaller than, for example, 5th Edition. This gives a flexible, freewheeling style to the OSR. If you think it might be your kind of thing, you could check out Old-School Essentials by Gavin Norman.

      @@worldwarlock The problem is, the 27 points you assign to your ability scores should already be representing how your character grew up and trained. If "the impact of your backstory on your ability scores" is instead now going to be represented by a replacement to racial modifiers, what do your point buy points or your die rolls represent? If you're not doing racial bonuses, you can just cut bonuses entirely and fold them into point buy, with extra points and an increased score cap. That way, any ability point can represent anything you feel best fits your character, instead of having some points that must represent your backstory, and a whole load more points that must represent "anything other than your backstory". The only bonuses outside the point buy pool that would make sense would be racial modifiers, if you wanted to mechanically represent natural or supernatural biological aptitudes that are inescapable facts of a character's birth. Anything else is best handled in the common pool, which means if you aren't a fan of elves being dextrous, you should just use an expanded point buy, instead of moving racial bonuses somewhere else.

    Topple is the only mastery that gets a saving throw. Target can't be bigger than large size for push, but no saving throw.

    The UA with the origin feats has only 10 feats, which means that if you want a specific feat then you will probably be locked into one or two specific backgrounds. I think it would have been better if only one (or two, if you want 3 +1's) ability was locked into a background and one that can be chosen from any. That way you can choose Acolyte you can choose Int, wis or cha for one (or two) of your abilities, then one ability that can be chosen from any.

    I don't know, I feel like the game has been being dumbed down since 4th edition. 3.5 and pathfinder 1e were not well balanced, but I do think it allowed for a much wider range of types of characters you can play, especially with how they did the multi-classing system, which I am still a huge fan of for the most part. I tried to get my group in 5e, but they always felt like they were too limited with that system. The same happened when we tried 4e, which I actually came to like (although I absolutely hated it at first).

      Yep. Playing the Owlcat Kingmaker game and discovering just how much flexibility and character concept I was missing out on in 5e's very rigid system, was a huge contributing factor to me quitting D&D. And Kingmaker's not even a good game.

    Sorry to say I disagree with rogues out damaging fighters, a rogue can have massive sneak attack on their first attack but in a round of attacks a fighter should always out perform most classes in melee dmg or else there's no point in playing them.

      I'm not sure about eeeevery class tbh? I feel like warlocks and sorcerers can deal some serious damage. I don't think fighters are made to deal more damage than anyone else because they also need to be the frontline

      The rogue's "status effects" are rather silly compared to a fighter with a Maul who knocks his opponent prone and gets advantage on every attack afterwards for the entire party. If I had a guess I'm going to say that is probably one of the first weapon masteries that DMs are going to have to start banning. The Rogue's unconscious one coming up right after it. So I think in actual game play, the Rogue's status effects aren't going to be that great after DMs eliminate the ability to make a creature go unconscious for a min.

New rules for me to take and use if i like them and freely availiable online, still not buying their books till they get the rest of their crap together and stop actively ruining every IP they own for a quick shareholder buck. Im not coming back till i get a garunteed sealed deal the ogl isnt going to get fucked and mtg needs several pick ups of quality in every factor, and for the love of fuck, pay an intern to play at least more than 1 game with new cards before printing moronic nonesense like new ulamog and nadu. No way in hell is it acceptable they cant playtest, they quite literally are one of the only companies that have a customer base whod have zero issues being unpaid testers, grab top format topping players and just let them read the cards, id put money they could do a spot read on the card thats a better balancing job than current r and d version of whatever the hell they do.

    18:46 You don't figure out damage vulnerabilities nor immunities/resistances unless your DM divulge that information. If they straight up tell it, I'd say that's probably a bad choice. If they instead narrate that you can see your attack makes the target wince in pain or they seem unbothered, sure you can make some educated guesses, but otherwise that shit should be unknown.

      I think usually DMs (at least myself and other DMs I've played with) will at least make note of it like "the creature seemed to be hurt less by your attack", which usually makes it pretty obvious. But tbf I can see why some DMs don't do it that way and then that skill becomes a lot better

      Unless you're DM is making a homebrew monster, you'll most certainly know the information because it's going to be in the monster manual (no, reading the rules of the game isn't a form of cheating). Even in the case of a homebrew or unknown monster, its generally much more engaging to give players information that they can act on. Mysteries are meant to be discovered, otherwise that kinda defeats the whole point of vulnerabilities/immunities/resistances as narrative and tactical devices.

      @@dumbwaki5877 Reading the monster manual and using that knowledge as if your character knows it is definitely meta-gaming and not to be encouraged, because it goes against the idea of the roleplaying aspect of the game. Your character is only as smart and knowledgeable as they are expected to be.

      @@worldwarlock Our group's DMs usually don't say anything about the effectiveness of attacks, unless people are repeatedly attacking a target that is definitely immune - like an animated weapon not taking damage from non-magical physical damage. If we're in doubt about effectiveness we're encouraged to make free perception checks to notice the damage extend of our attacks, but we hardly ever get that information up front. (We do a bit of homebrew with free perception and knowledge checks in combat because it doesn't make sense to us to dawdle around for 6 seconds trying to remember some information from a knowledge skill or to plainly look at the target and see the damage you've inflicted. Either you see something or remember something from your subconscious or you don't. In certain situations a higher DC may be applied.) It feels more immersive to not get immediate detailed feedback and we try to not act on meta information.

      @@m.r.r.2636 Why would you not always make free perception checks to notice the damage extend of your attacks? Seems it would just be easier to tell you up front, because eventually with 5-6 players, one of you are going to figure it out.

    Personally having a strong martial makes me happy because casters feel a lot stronger overall

      Honestly they haven’t equal to casters. As it stands now they are about as good as they were in the UA which is still extremely subpar compared to magic users.

    yes weapon mastery do duplicate some battlemaneuver but the big difference: 1- Maneuvers can be use a limited number of time per short rest VS weapon mastery are at will use all day long ability. 2- Maneuver can be use with almost any weapon VS weapon mastery can be uses with specific weapon. So they compliment each other. If your favorite battlemaster tactic is to bring the target prone and get advantage to all your attacks and give advantage to your melee focus team, grab a topple weapon so you can bring the target prone every attack without using resource. and you can now choose a different maneuver other then trip attack and grab riposte instead or ambush or any other maneuver that you wouldn't used before because all your limited superior dice were on trip attack.

    So many of these feel like old 3.5 feats, with no few of them being feats you would NEVER have chosen in 3.5, because there were just better options. Now there are no options, but hey, at least no one can "misbuild" their character now by failing to do some minimal level of optimization. Apparently the players need babysitting and the GMs need the rules to say "no you cant do that" for them.

      I mean smite will 100% still have its place, but that place is a lot of damage whereas the weapon masteries mostly seem to focus on utility

    They definitely didn't actually talk about feet. Just like how feet are tied to your characters. Which is fine but like I was hoping they would drop some spicy new stuff. What they gave us feels like something akin to a patch in a game. Ya know, nothing truly special, just optimizations you could have figured out yourself as homebrew.

      It is. It's a balance patch with some new features that raise up some abilities and drag some abilities down. The people calling this 6e are insane. It's 5.5 at best and probably more like 5.2.

    Graze is a lot better than you give it credit for. You always do your ability score damage with every attack. So if you're a fighter with 20 STR, you'd always do AT LEAST 10 damage at level 5, 15 damage at level 11, and 20 damage at level 20. And that's if you missed every attack.

      It would be great if it was the ability score, but it is the ability modifier. Still good at low levels though.
