(37:30) Lanny, don't be too sure in what you think you know - you've gotten sucked into hindsight bias... Heuristics change from matchup to matchup, or even game to game, in ways that elude tidy "templates"... Just because Mike happened to lose does not mean his judgement was necessarily bad (admittedly, at the same time, if he had won, one could argue confirmation bias when proclaiming the "correctness" of his decisions). Bottom line, Premodern is still (and always be) complex enough to render matchup heuristics ineffective as a primary tool for critiquing games, and I believe you've critiqued Mike's game based mostly on heuristics/rules of thumb... Love what you guys do!

Because I know that you are focusing on tide and surf, can you please tell your point of view about powder keg in the goblin match up?

Clerics are a strictly better monoB deck, cause they can defend themselves against burn quite well actually. Suicide black isn't that bad, you just need to figure out the best decklist: negators? dauthi? hatred? how many duresses or therapies? Still it won't be successful cause burn is dominant in the meta..

Doesn't monoB clerics at least have better results that zombies? There is no way maggot carrier is up to snuff with everything else going on in the format.

Thanks for the mono black run, but I don't think that playing a zombie deck without all of its synergies (rotlung and polluter) can be good enough. The choice of the creatures in this aggro deck puzzles me, none of them have any sort of evasion, so you need to remove every creature the opponent plays and Mishras are played a lot and are very efficent blockers. Probably the way to go is "suicide black" with dauthi/fledgling djinn/skirge and negators (you will lose anyway to red), maybe also anthems should go I don't want them in my starting hand instead of a true threat.

Love Premodern. Just seems so weak to rocking a deck with B 1/1 lose 1 life. And that's with me watching tons of Premodern content with people playing sus decks, cards, and manabases.

Thank you for the fun premodern content! There’s a zombie called Grave Defiler that’s like the Goblin Ringleader for zombies- looks like a fun build around card that I never got around to trying out. Seems like it might have potential though. Cheers mate!

Dreadnaught seems like such an unfun deck to play.

I don't really get how this is soft at all. if you have Opalescence and Wave in play, it's just game over 95% of the time.

Keep the petals in, and trade something in for standstills. You can open with them to stave, but you can also close with them as an extra 3 cards out of opps library.

It's time for The Rock to cut Pernicious Deed and become a Sylvan Library deck.

I've built merfolk for my wife. That deck is crazy good. It definitely plays better than it looks on paper. Do think there is room to explore in it though.
