USWNT Review: What Did We Learn From Victory Tour Games?
Teresa handing of the press conference after Kennedy Carter's Attach on, followed by the bench applauded, Caitlin Clark was awful.
Let me guess. You want to see the Dept. of Education shut down?
There’s only only 5 teams in Europe that spend big on players. Chelsea Lyon Barcelona, Man City, maybe Arsenal. Don’t know if it’s news to you guys but in the UK Trinity Rodman is also linked to Chelsea in the summer.
I don’t know if it’s news to you, but we talked about Trin in this video 🤦🏻♂️
Clubs I the UK won't release salaries due mainly to GDPR and being legally obliged to protect employees personal data

Nuanced analysis for once. Glad you pointed out that the salary cap situation is an inbuilt long term issue but also that that the Girma transfer isn’t the harbinger of the apocalypse either. I will disagree though with the notion that, say, doubling the salary cap solves this problem. Ultimately, the salary cap will continue to cause this issue in perpetuity - even if you raise it. Raising it significantly as a one off will only inflate the market and then your back to square one again. The salary cap has its benefits and purpose and that may be worth the inevitable downside of losing the absolute elite talent to Europe. That’s a judgement call. Raising it will allow teams to elevate the contracts of players they already have and sign some new ones and then they’re maxed out again and can’t afford to buy the next player or reward star performers with suitable contracts. Ultimately, the only way to compete financially with the European giants is to get rid of the salary cap. The player market is only going in one direction and just because the NWSL clubs are capped doesn’t mean the European salaries won’t be rising and rising in the meantime. It’s a conundrum. The volatility of the NWSL is a unique selling point amongst elite competitions. You can sign for the bottom club one year and realistically hope to be near the top a few years later - that isn’t possible in Europe. Get rid of the salary cap and you lose that USP. Maybe the NWSL has to find a different USP as a solution because between salaries, the champions league and the history and tradition European clubs offer their players, it’s going to be mighty hard for the NWSL without another hook.
She is a good player, especially her speed.
Great analysis & welcome to Europe! I would like to add some thoughts. 1) Nwsl was a bad boring league from a soccer's fan perspective. The "competiveness" was a result of generally low level of football, transitional play a result of errors in defence and no defensive tactics. 2) That changed totally with better trainers, look at the spirit able to compete in the 1st year of Jona with ONE USWNT Player and having injuries after injuries. Now NWSL may be level to Liga F. 3) Is it really attractive for the best players to play with mediocre teammates? At Barcelona, Chelsea, Man City, Bayern .... they are training every day with the best ones, winning a lot of games and having a massive media focus when they play each other , i,.e. Champions League 4) At the moment, it's only a few European Clubs that are investing massively in the women's game. But, there will be more and the European Clubs do have a hell of a money to do it. 5) NWSL should allow to form super teams, i.e no salary cap. This teams should take part in the UWCL, or part of the Clubs World Cup.
This has to be the worst take I have ever read. 1. Saying NWSL is a boring lead just tells me you don’t actually watch it. It’s competitive because of the physicality and the high transitional play. Which is why Europeans teams are deciding to snatch players and watching them form a far 2. The spirit was already a top team and did great without Jonas. They just got players that came from the draft and were standouts at the colleges they were at. 3. Saying NWSL has mediocre teams is wild. You can only name Barcelona in that league. As they created a super team. One team should not have a 100 goal differential. That means one team is only being invested in. Barcelona came down to face a very new NWSL team and was losing until the coach took out the players so they can rest as they were I season. 4. They are probably 4 teams in Europe that are investing in teams. Which is why the salary cap for Europe has become a conversation now. As they realize how much of a disadvantage it is to other teams. Regulation teams start regulated. So what’s the point of it? 4. Super teams are just dumb. Players really don’t develop for that. That’s why players are jetting from Barcelona. Club World Cup for the women is next year. Will see how this plays out. As we have had tournaments in the past with wsl teams and NWSL has come on top most times. 6. Do better
@RhondelishaParker don't know why you are impolite and upset. I did watch nwsl and quite a few European leagues , did you watch a single game of Liga F? I think the main difference is that you love transitional and physical play and I do like tactical and positional play. The best is when a positional team plays a transitional team. In Nwsl 2023 this was only the case when the courage or maybe Gotham played. In 2024 Orlando and bay FC joined the style. But this is only mho. Be nicer!!
@@alexanderneunzig5320 did you just say be nicer while saying that a league is “bad and boring”. And also talking down the coaching and staff who dedicate a lot to the league. Unlike you I watch all leagues. You have the absolute worst takes, create a super team. Nobody wants to see that. That’s why there is a debate right now on the wsl due to the dominance on Chelsea. Why waste time watching liga f when the same team wins all the time. Thats how you lose interest. So take your own advice and be nicer and do more research
You lost me at one USWNT player when they have Trin, Croix, Casey, and Hal all on the Olympic team, plus Andi, Hatch, and Aubrey who have been in camps regularly. That’s not to mention a Candian in Gabby, a Colombian in Lacy, and others who are national team regulars in their country. I didn’t bother reading the rest of your nonsense. If you’re gonna come for our product, you best not miss. You missed.
@@HoffmanWSports sorry, i didn't want to bother anyone, I would argue, that only casey and trin were part of the official roster and trin was injured in the fall.
The NWSL needs to implement an All-Star League competition to compete with Champions League. The fans want to see superteams competing against one another. And the best players in the world want to play with each other, against each other. The NWSL should build 4 superteams from the existing 16 league teams and have them play a tournament style competition that runs concurrently with the NWSL season. Let Emma Hayes coach a team with both Chawinga and Banda against a Giraldez-led team fronted by Tripple Espresso. This will allow stars like Girma stuck on bad NWSL teams the chance to still play high-level competitive games with other stars throughout the season. Allow the designated player rule and let the ambitious owners back up the Brink's Truck and bring the Worlds best to the NWSL. Give the fans and the players what they want.
This whole idea is built on the false premise that Europe has better teams than NWSL which it doesn't. They are still playing catch up.
@@gtjohns220 have you lost your mind??? Here are the current top women teams in the world. They are all European. There are no super teams in the nwsl. 1. Barcelona 2. Chelsea. 3. Lyon 4. Arsenal 5. Man City. 6. Bayern 7. Madrid 8. Man United
@@breathe7759 Thank you for sharing a list of the 8 European teams who are actually good but no the best women's league in the world is the NWSL which is why the best women around the world play here.
@@gtjohns220 " the false premise that Europe has better teams than thr nwsl which it doesn't " . Funny how you admit you lied, and the best teams are all European. 2. The reason why the nswl is more DOMESTICALLY competitive is that very fact. ie it has no super teams, hence its a level playing field. But on the INTERNATIONAL club level nwsl teams are NOWHERE
@@breathe7759 how can any of those teams be super teams when they don't include the best players in the world bc they play im the NWSL. Outside of Nirma was was given a record contrCt the few women the US to sign to a Champions League side were cast offs who lost their starting spots states side.
thanks great analysis and information. as usual.
Much appreciated!
Chelsea signs Kiera Walsh to a 4-1/2 year deal. This goes far beyond the 'rich get richer.' It is rediculous how much Chelsea outspends all other teams in the world to procure a star studded roster like no other. Renders the WSL now as 'boring.' It's the 'Chelsea & the Rest of the Minions' league. How much fun can it truly be for competitive athletes like Girma to breeze through a season, never threatened in a match? THe NWSL needs to a.) keep the team pay scale balanced & league competitive, ...& ...b.) raise the team salary cap so NWSL clubs can compete on the world stage, ...even against the likes of a behemoth like Chelsea. ...
All the other billion dollar clubs are more than welcome to spend their money on women's football at any time!
Other teams need to step up then don’t they? You can’t have a go at Chelsea for investing in their women’s team ! finally a team that is putting in some worth into women’s football.
@@HoffmanWSportsyeah, that’s not gonna happen
exactly. parity is what grows the game/leagues. while UWCL is very entertaining, its forcing teams in Europe to hoard top tier talent to compete, at the expense of their leagues being terrible to watch 90% of the time. as a neutral i dont want to watch Barca beat up on the tomato cans in their league. i dont want to watch the top 3 teams in WSL play anybody else in their league. same goes for the French and German leagues. the more talent the NWSL loses, the less i want to watch as well. its about the product on the field first and foremost.
@@T.R.75 you could say the same thing about every man’s league Man City Real Madrid B Munich always win their leagues. So let’s all not watch football then.
WoSho show broadcasting from NWSL 2026 Media Day is a 'great' idea. Expect to see it.
Better hit that subscribe button then lol
there is actual reporting on Girma that she requested a loan away from San Diego in January 2024 before Casey Stoney was fired in June. framing her desire to leave as a direct result of Stoney's firing, the civil suit or having anything at all to do with Jonas being brought in is wildly off base. all love. great coverage as always.
@Anrdre', ...You've admitted that as a fan, your #1 team is Chelsea, with the Spirit as your #2 team, as a fan. That said, QUESTION: where would you rather Trinity Rodman sign her next contract? Chelsea? Or Washington Spirit? ...
"Your content idea is fantastic, and it’s clear that viewers enjoy and value it. However, it seems like it’s not reaching as many people as it could. I can provide you with some suggestions to help grow your RUclips channel and reach a wider audience!"
Funny that the own goal by taking too many risks almost happened to Kingsbury and Berger outdribbled Hatch lol. Gotham has this insanely high line and that requires Berger to clean up anything that comes in behind and she has done it brilliantly this season. It's very risky and comes with your goalkeeper having a very hugh starting position as well but that is Gothams game plan and has been throughout the season. Strange that you guys thought Orlando was the better team in the second game against Gotham considering their only goal came from a penalty from Banda doing her specialty of falling down in the box (like she tried in the semifinal and final as well) and otherwise had like one shot on target. One could argue about Kansas City being the better team but they certainly weren't in the first half. Hurts me to say that but Kingsbury costs Washington the final after almost costing them the semifinal as well.
Hannah Hampton has been a flop at Chelsea. Berger is better at every aspect of goalkeeping, including with the ball at her feet. Jill Loyden talked about that as well. Mandy McGlynn should be the new number one because she is the only well-rounded goalkeeper the US has. PTJ is awful with the ball at her feet and just a good shot stopper. Emma Hayes is probably still going to continue to invite PTJ because she's known for playing favourites and letting her personal bias cloud her decision-making, and she has a huge european bias.
“ 15:16 Just gonna put my best foot forward “ ( no pun intended ? )
If Paige pulls this nonsense I hope Dallas wins the lottery again and she's stuck playing for them if she wants to play in the WNBA. I don't believe she doesn't want to play for Dallas, a lot of that talk stems from people who think LA or Golden State are entitled to her on their team.
It’ll most likely be a short career. Something about them knees. And WNBA thugs have surely noticed. They will be throwing themselves at her lower body intentionally. Ah the drama of women’s basketball.
It's gonna be so funny when Paige is an utter nothingburger in the WNBA
I think she will be a good player. But there is a pretty vocal group of CC haters/deniers that perpetually try to downplay what she did in her rookie year. And I say, bring it on. Let’s see Paige break all those rookie records. I keep hearing how she’s so much better than Caitlin and I’m excited to see that in action in 2025: ROTY? Obviously. First team all WNBA? Duh. 19 assists in one game? No problem for Paige. 122 threes in a season? Child’s play. 769 points and 337 assists? She’ll have that before the all star game. Triple doubles? I’m sure she will have one every game. Paige is THAT good. According to her fans, that is. If she doesn’t break At least 2 of those stats, you can’t say she’s better than “overrated” Caitlin Clark.
I see the Caitlin Clark haters have moved on to Paige since they were dead wrong about CC.
What is wrong with all of you? This has NOTHING to do with Caitlin, who was incredible and is a top 10, if not top 5 player in the league. No one worth listening to says otherwise. And yet here you doofuses are hating on another player for what? Who raised you? 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Jordynn Dudley stands out as one of the most exciting prospects for the future. She has exceptional speed, great finishing ability, and aerial dominance due to her size-quality that is currently missing from the undersized USWNT forward line. With Sear call up we can see that Emma wants to add more size to that front line. Dudley’s profile fits perfectly into this evolving vision for the USWNT.
I don't see how Paige has any leverage, if she tries to force something, the wings will just call her bluff, let her decide if she wants to play for them or sit out 4 years
Did you even listen? They hold her draft rights for one year, not four. "I don't get it! I'll comment even though the answers I seek are in the video here on this video website or a thousand other places on the internet!" Brilliant.
I hope Paige refuses to go to Dallas. It would be the height of "privilege". The backlash and resentment generated by such selfishness would destroy her marketability. She never even won a championship yet she thinks she's too good for the W. Go ahead, make my day!
F'n weird comment
Another Washington Spirit observation by 'this fan.' ...We still have only two (2) CB's on our roster, Tara & Esme. Even though we've signed four (4) new players, it feels as if we still need to sign one (1) more at CB. Andre knows, I've been harping on three (3) candidates I was hoping Mark Krikorian would pursue. ...a.) Lilly Reale (now Gotham's prize signing). ...b.) Jade Rose, CB, Harvard Univ., Sr., 21 years old, & a fixture (starter) on the Canadian WNT. ...'She's a beast at CB.' ...c.) Finally, & more likely a mid-season arrival, Ingrid Engen, Barcelona, MF'6' / CB. Her contract ends in June, however she is in a relationship with Barcelona teammate (Mapi Leon). So, who knows there. With Lilly Reale now in Gotham, & Ingrid Engen a question-mark too, I believe our best opportunity is with Jade Rose. Which would still be a win, ...a 'big' win. I went into this off-season with a wish list of college players I was hoping Mark would sign. More prominent names, likely costing more $$$$. ...Now seeing who Mark has signed, I think he shrewdly signed less obvious, but none-the-less viable, talent with high ceilings, & guessing here, all at lower cost, saving $$$$ to put toward the 'top priority', ...re-signing Trinity Rodman to an extension contract, keeping her in DC beyond this year. But, it still seems the CB issue looms. Sure Casey Krueger can fill in as a back up, but can she fill in as a 3rd CB rotating with Tara & Esme at that position? ...I would like to think, Mark Krikorian is now working on signing Jade Rose as our last off-season signing. Jade Rose would give us depth & injury insurance with three (3) formidable CB's who could rotate, sharing the 2 CB starting positions,
Another difference with the college players signing with teams this off-season is, ...when there was a NWSL Draft, college players had to declare they're intent to enter the Draft. So, the public, in advance, new which 'underclassman' college players were coming out to make the jump to the pro ranks (NWSL). Now though, that aspect is a 'blind-spot' to the public. We have no idea which 'underclassman' are entertaining or intending to forgo the rest of their college eligibility to sign with a team to play in the NWSL. Not until they actually sign with a team.
First, how can there be 'zero' comments on this board so far. People got to tune in, this is quality stuff Craig, Andre, & Jason deliver. RE: collegiate signings; ...How about Lilly Reale, CB, Gotham FC. ...If the NWSL still had a Draft, Lilly Reale likely would have been the overall #1 pick. ...As a Washington Spirit fan, boy did I want Mark Krikorian to reel her in & sign with the Spirit. She would have been ideal for us. Whether rotating with Tara & Esme at CB, ...or ....better yet, her skills are so strong & diverse she could have been our Andi Sullivan replacement at the defensive midfield ('6'), allowing Hal to move back to the box-to-box ('8') MF. Giving us a young, stong, USWNT caliber trio in our MF for 5 - 7 years (Lilly at '6', Hal at '8', & Croix at '10'). Super get for Gotham. Although, Lilly Reale likely came at a high price ($$$$). ...I suspect Mark & Michele need to save on salary this off-season to have the cash & team salary cap-space to sign Trinity Rodman when her contract expires at the end of this 2025 season.
Paige is not an otherworldly superstar like yall trying to make her. I dont even think shes one of the top players in the country right now, if we're being honest...
Thanks for telling us you know nothing about basketball 😂😂😂
@HoffmanWSports lets see... Hannah Hidalgo, Ta'Niya Latson, JuJu Watkins, Olivia Miles, and her own teammate Sarah Strong, are all playing better than her right now, so where does she rank with those players to you? Do you actually watch college basketball?
@@HoffmanWSports you make me laugh. If Paige wasn't blonde and playing for blue blood she'd be just another player. Be honest with yourself, if Paige was playing for Minnesota or Illinois would she be getting this hype.
she is definitely one of the top players lmfao. we are entering a new era of womens basketball where people favor individual production more than tehy ever have before. maya moore, stewie, diana all considered college goats but avg what paige has or less. paige maintains an almost generational efficiency, but when shes not winning games like they did some people fail to understand how that could possibly matter. people want to see heliocentric play, she's just not the type of player for that. they would settle for team domination, but that's not happening so people are getting antsy with her. i admit i also want to see that-- which is why she's not one of my favorite players. she's not the freshman NPOY prodigy definitive better than everyone people purported her to be back then. not if it doesnt translate to winning. but we dont have to say she's not one of the top players in college basketball right now or just "any other player".
@@HoffmanWSportslazy argument dude
Paige is beyond the number 1 pick. If anyone thinks anyone is even close to her OVERALL ABILITY, doesn't understand basketball.
😂 you must be crazy. Paige isnt even a top 5 player in the country right now.... 1. Hannah Hidalgo 2. Ta'Niya Latson 3. Juju Watkins 4. Olivia Miles 5. Flaujae Johnson. 6. Sarah Strong Paige isnt even the best player on her own team atm
This one of the dumbest things I heard all day all she had to do was get drafted with her draft class last year and she would have been in LA. But now she finna pull a Eli Manning?!
You can punctuate any argument with "you don't know basketball." Sad that this is the only way left to argue for Paige. But it's understandable; her performances have been poor this year.
It’s ok to like a player or a team without saying hyperbolic things like this. Remember when Geno said Caitlin’s fans were delusional? This is the kind of thing he was talking about. Even if Paige is the best player that ever plays in the WNBA, that remains to be seen. A lot of great college athletes don’t make the jump to the WNBA and immediately dominate or Clark wouldn’t have broken so many rookie records. Think about this for a minute. If I’m proven wrong and Paige comes in and dominates as a rookie, then the world will see that and respect her for the incredible player that she is. If not, well I’m sure you already have plenty of excuses ready to go. The WNBA is a lot tougher than college. All the players are very good, even the “bad” ones. And many have been humbled. Husky alum Katie Lou Samuelson won a championship with UCONN, and was 4th overall pick in 2019 - BEFORE Arike and Napheesa Collier. She was set to be a top player with her size and scoring ability. But she’s been relegated to be mostly a bench player on one of the worst teams in the league prior to 2024. You just never know how it will go.

She could be the first 30 year old in the draft
Paige will not be the No1 pick so problem solved. More likely trade bait if she makes it to March and enters draft.
Yes she will. Dallas isn't passing her up.
Paige ain't no better than anyone else. If she chooses not to go, let her not play. She is not necessarily the best player in the draft, and she's prone to injury. And it would damage her ego if she isn't a guaranteed first pick. That's the biggest reason she didn't go last year. Caitlin was going first no matter what and Paige has a fragile UConn ego. Plus her girlfriend was still at UConn. I agree with a lot of other posters, Howard is creepy as hell.
Paige is going to Dallas. All of this talk about her not entering the draft is silly. She's the projected #1 pick, she's not passing that up.
Appreciate her commentary, very knowledgeable, clear, and concise.
question: which of the following players won't make the world cup team; Dunn, Shaw, Lovell, Horan, Krueger, Williams?
I wouldn’t say that Paige holds all the cards. Her season at UConn is off to a shaky enough start that I have seen several posts suggesting that Miles has surpassed her as the #1 pick. Since Miles is more of a pure PG and hails from Notre Dame (Arike’s alma mater), there is the real possibility that they choose Miles with the #1 pick. I don’t think that is likely but it probably makes this more a two way conversation so that if Paige is determined to go elsewhere she allows Dallas to strike a trade so she can still be #1 and Dallas gets assets plus a really good player (maybe Miles) at 2 or 3.
Paige shouldn't hold any of the cards. She isnt as good as many of the players. Howard is creepy and stupid. He also just kisses everyone's ass. They really need to dump him from these podcasts/RUclips streams. But if I were wings I would be taking Miles at this point.
@@kimberlysingleton2205 the only reason Dallas would never take Miles over Bueckers is for marketing reasons. If they flop on the Paige pick, no one would blame them
It sounds to me like y'all are scared to tell the truth. She sacrificed good team play to watch one player chasing stats. Going 1 on 3 in the paint when you're statistically one of the worst shooters in the league and you're teammates are wide open is bad basketball. That falls directly on the coaches shoulders. Dennis Rodman used to get the rebound and kick the ball out because like Reese he was not a scorer.
Freaking wonderful show! I'm so excited to read the book. Especially as someone who played women's high school basketball in Iowa in the 80s.
love your show. how much did you pay for the poster above Howards shoulder.
I watched the full interview on Call Her Daddy (I'm not part of the target demographic either lol), and I did not get the impression that it was exploitative. While Trinity is a very young adult, she is still an adult, and went into the interview knowing that they would be discussing her relationship with her father, and (imho) was mature enough to decide to do so. Yes, the discussion was intense, but to me it was because of the level transparency, thoughtfulness, and honesty that Trinity was willing to bring to her responses to the questions asked of her. Through no fault of her own, there has been a lot of interest in Trinity's relationship with her father, and I think this interview was her attempt to bring some honesty to that discussion.
I don’t disagree with most of this. I think 80% or more of the interview was great for the reasons you said. Once you start asking if someone’s love life has been affected, that feels a bit much. In part because the answer is obviously yes. That’s how trauma works. Some things are okay to leave in therapy and not use for entertainment. But I appreciate your comment!
You're not being "overly protective" . You have a very thoughtful critique . But it was trauma porn and not a whole picture of trinity
Thank you
Gotham GM has done some really good business this offseason, even if just just a lemons and lemonade situation. No draft creates an interesting effect. I wonder how many college signings we end up seeing in total this year. The weird thing about having a draft pick is that it is an asset you need to use in front of your peers and your fans - creates an incentive structure to scout and select players. No one says "we choose not to draft a player." I wonder if we will see a narrowing towards the elite tier and a drop off of the mid to late round draft pick caliber players. Obviously, the Spirit are in a unique situation based on last year's draft, but I suspect they will not sign four college players this year (a normal draft allotment). While not every drafted player signed a contract, the players at least got serious consideration for one. I am not in favor of bringing back the draft, just interested in seeing how getting rid of it changes the player pool. Given that media rights very closely track to winner's purses and association/program contributions, how much of a cut are you willing to accept for accessibility? I figure that NBC could bid 90% of Netflix, and I would give it to them, 80% I might look at their plan to see what they plan on doing (every game live on NBC, probably. Everything on Peacock, no way.) I presume Andre wasn't proposing giving it to NBC for free, so I am curious where his line is. I am with Michelle Kang on treating WoSo as business with value.
More tats
Abt Trin in Call her daddy, I think the main thing is that that wasn't an interview. That podcast is a conversation. Not an interview. And I'm Sure Trin knew what she was getting into. I agree with you that some parts were uncomfortable but it looked to me like Trin knew the convo could go there. Your last point about how huge that podcast is and Trin being big enough to be a guest, that's a really good point and like you I hope that that translates in thousands of new Trin and Woso fans.
A conversation vs interview doesn't really hold much weight for me. The best interviews in long form are often conversational but they ultimately rely on the host/interviewer asking questions and the guest responding, even if there's a back and forth to follow. Is that the same as a 60 Minutes hardcore journalism interview? No, but it also doesn't mitigate what I said about the responsibility of the host of the show. Like you said though - hoping the good MEGA outweighs the bad, and I think it definitely will!
@@HoffmanWSports good point. Agreed.
Ryan following her literal gf to Houston because Houston was able to pay her gf more than Gotham was due to the relative quality of their roster & salary cap status is not a culture problem. i understand yall don't like speaking on things like that but it's real and thats what happened lol. the return is massive and Gotham now have piles of cash and 4 (!) open international spots to fill this offseason. as much as sending Yaz away sucks, it's what she asked for and they've been well compensated and are very well positioned to improve their roster before spring.
Of course! As we said in the show, if Lynn didn’t say anything than we probably would’ve looked at both of these as family moves. However Lynn said what she said, so there’s clearly more here.
WOULD LOVE TO SEE A NWSL ALL-STAR GAME .
The intangible is the Big Game mentality. Solo and Naeher both had that type of mentality. Obviously if you went by club performance, Naeher wouldn't look that good given all the goals scored on her at Chicago this year (but that's more on the team). Naeher shows up VERY BIG when it matters most (like the Olympics this year).
PTJ is 28
Please move out from uswnt Lindsay Horan. She killed the games ball, which is not moving or passing quickly enough forward position players .give this opportunity for young and fast players.
#1 problem this match: 1. Nighswonger (by far) she’s not good enough 2. Horan 3. Shaw 4. Albert You layed way too far into Albert for some reason and protected Nighswonger. She was a disaster
We've talked about Albert quite a bit for months and months, so it was more of "this is what we've been saying." Nighswonger was more bad game than long term issue, though we have talked about the specific games/roles she's better suited for over the last few months.
Nighswonger may be great running up the sides and putting crosses across the face of goal, but her build is so slight that she was quite literally bulldozed over on defense (there's a shot of Luechter running over her). Nighswonger may be best suited in a midfield role. No wonder Emma subbed her out in favor for Sonnett (who's not going to get bullied). KA has better ball handling skills than Horan, but seems reluctant to press/pass forward. Horan seems better higher up, but that doesn't do the midfield any favors when the team is reduced to 2 midfielders. Coffey remains the best midfielder they have atm. It's obvious the constant narrative is the midfield is the weakest point.
against dutch, Hayes played her "C" team until second half. this is overlooked. midfield problems will not change until horan and lovell are replaced. lovell on wing is not going to work. good analysis gentalmen. one of the best shows on the net.
Not C team, more like A- team turns into a B team due to shifting players to their non-preferred location. Our midfield can be really good. The current main issue I'm guessing is Naeher saves the team something like a 0.5 per game, they need to find that somewhere.
