Hi! Thanks for the videos. I think I followed all of the math except for the bird’s mouth. I understand where to cut the vertical angle of 42 degrees. However, you said to draw a right triangle to get the horizontal line of the bird’s mouth. I understand how to do that, but not where to do it! Is it arbitrary where I draw the right angle, or stated differently, how deep the 42 degree cut on the bird’s mouth should be? Your instructions were superb!
Thank you! I am glad it was helpful. It is somewhat arbitrary but as a general rule, the birdsmouth should never exceed one-third of the rafter's depth, ensuring at least two-thirds of the rafter remains above the birdsmouth.
Thanks for posting with tab. Good info
how to see other parts? part1
You can search same title: ‘dog house with rafters’ part 1 or 2 or just go to my channel
I would like you to show me how to cut and how to build it.
My dog house is 69"×49"(inches) How is the rafter angle will be? Is that ok to pick 11/12 which one suggeste to me thanks for your detail info.
Hello! Using my video instructions the angle would be 43 degrees and length from top plate up to point would be 33 inches but you would need to add some inches for overhang. I am assuming house is 50 inches width including siding. Please try it with a scrap and see if it works. Thanks for your question.
Keep them coming, these are great tabs and overviews. WOW!
Thanks, will do! Just released one today, 5/25/2024.
My favorite version in between...It would be a gift If you could slow this video down, so I could learn how you do It...
Dog house build. You can build a condo with this information very useful

Thank you!
Fabulous helps. Thank you so much. Can you give any information where to find back up tapes such as is used in this demonstration? Your channel is extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make your valuable teaching videos. Appreciate your great work very much. Mucho Gravias
Thank you very much! Good question. For the background music I use some fantastic software called ChordPulse which you can download to your computer. There is a free version which is great but I upgraded to the regular version which offers more styles. It costs very little. You could start with the free version and go from there. All you have to do is type in the chords, style, and tempo you want, click a button and it will start playing. The style I like to use is called Quick Beat. You can search it on RUclips and there are some good tutorials on how to use it. It is quite simple. Thanks again!

Thanks for this, it's really helpfull
Great info on your website. Thanks.
Thanks; I am glad it is helpful.
Hello. Why are you adding 2 additional notes in 16th bar?
Hello! The first time I play part 'A' ending in measure 8, I put a 1/4 note. The second time I play part 'A' ending in measure 16, I put two 1/8 notes to give it more drive leading into part 'B'. It takes up the same number of beats. I hope this makes sense. Tab is always suggestive and you may want to change it to suit your taste. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for your inquiry.
Hey, Roddy! Great stuff.

Very happy to have come across this video
Thanks, Henry! Glad it was helpful.
Can you do a review of your banjo?
Thank you for your request. I no longer have the banjo. I really liked it but I came across a super deal on a Deering Midnight Special (has a tone ring) for about the same price I could sell my Deering Blackgrass for so I went for it. The Blackgrass did not have a tone ring but it was very resonant, had great volume and a sweet, mellow tone. The setup was perfect when I got it and I loved the cool look of it. The neck, frets, and tuners are all top quality, just like the higher priced Deerings. It also came with the railroad spikes which are needed if using a capo. I like that Deerings are made in the USA and the quality control is good and consistent. If interested in the Blackgrass, I would say look around for a deal because the regular price for a new one is high.
It would have been nice to have seen you actually put the shingles on. Your video goes from the first line to all the way complete. Not that helpful.
Good point. Thanks for your feedback.
literally the only video on youtube with this banjo thanks for uploading it looks and sounds killer
