Welcome to Kangaroo Pouch Animal Orphanage (‘not for profit’ Registered Charity). We are located in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia on a private property, that provides a safe environment for injured, rescued and orphaned wildlife.

Pierre is a 16 year old Western Grey kangaroo. He arrived to KPAO 4 years ago, needing a new forever home.
Pierre is known here as our ‘Gentle giant’. He quite often comes into our Joey sanctuary and hangs out with the younger ones, so caring and tolerant towards all of them. He has never been a bossy natured kangaroo, just enjoys life and most of all, yummy almond treats.❤️🦘

We have been a little quiet lately, our dear old Simone has crossed the rainbow bridge. Her cancer had returned and she lost the will to live. Simone had just turned 18 and lived with us from a 12 month old, orphaned Joey. Sometimes it can be a struggle to find a happy place in your heart to write posts like those. Simone will be forever missed by everyone but knowing the beautiful life she had...

Quite a rarity for me to see, two of our older female Red kangaroos sparing. Not sure what the talk was about but maybe arguing over who gets what bed. 🤭 The two Red kangaroos are Ursie and Honey.❤️🦘

Not being as agile in your elderly years, doesn’t make it easy to eat the balanced diet that Wallabies require. We help Grandpa Swampy out when opportunities arise.❤️🦘
