In Western North Carolina, I have too many rocks on my property.
1st to comment. Free Auger. Awesome
i wouldnt paint them there good and dry out now. only paint or seal ends when wood is green
Is the saw completely clean of debris around the base of the cylinder? Often older saws are so pack full of oiled dust it is almost like cement. Every saw I have gotten used was like that. If it is that will cause a lot more issues than boiled oil. Also, is your tank vent functioning properly? If the oil is hot enough to boil that means your crank is hot, bad deal. Also the more oil you have in your gas the warmer the motor runs. I know guys that run 50:1 in the summer and 32:1 or 40:1 in the winter for this very reason. I really doubt the muffler is the real issue.
Excellent information! I hadn’t thought about making sure the it’s clean, I know it was pretty dirty when I got it but I only cleaned the area I was working with. I also haven’t checked the tank vent and didn’t know the oil mix will change temps. Thank you for information!
@@faithfulfarmadventures another thing I didn't think of is in the old days when my grandpa ran 30 weight oil as bar oil it has a different composition than the biodegradable oils that Stihl sells now. Perhaps the type of oil matters as well? I haven't the issue of 100 degree days so I usually run Stihl medium with no issues throughout the summer. The cooking oil that Stihl sells us (okay it isn't that clean!) most likely has a lower flash point than even the oil of my generation used because it was still oil based. The muffler cover you were using should actually help move more heat out of the block and lower temperatures. So my guess is still that the lower part of the case is packed full of goo that kills and that the new oils have a much poorer heat resistance than the old.
@@turtlewolfpack6061 that’s what my thoughts on the muffler were to that it should be moving the air quicker and building less heat. I think your onto something with the cylinder being caked with gunk.
@@faithfulfarmadventures keep us posted! As a young tern I ran my dads 044 and I do remember that thing batted way above its weight class!
I love o44s never seen that. Oil looks dirty. Are you using fresh bar oil? Maybe lots of heat from the modified exhaust? Lots of factors broskie. Also it looks like the exhaust could possibly be bouncing of the dog and hitting the oil reservoir.
Thats a good bit of wood you guys got done.
Yeah my son did a great job 😄
@@faithfulfarmadventures Tell him when he gets done to come but i have a large stack i need to split
@@TheRustyGarageandHomestead 😂
The stuff you put on your cut ends of mill logs is called anchor seal. I think its too late to donit to them. That needs done when they are cut within a day or so to prevemt checks in the ends. Those logs already have checks
Good to know I figured it was to late for that
Looks like a good start on the wood
It’s a decent start need a lot more!
I've been told 2 ricks is equal to a cord.
Hey William. It would depend how long you cut your firewood. A cord is 4 foot wide 4 foot tall and 8 foot wide. So if you cut 16" pieces it's 3 ricks. 24" pieces would be 2 rick. Thats the volume size of it but most people call 3 ricks a cord. I don't know anyone who cuts 24" pieces eaither
Dustin did the young fellow wear out his gloves?
Not quite! He does a good job splitting wood!
I remember that well. Dad getting me started, then disappeared. I liked working for the neighbors better. They paid cash.
😂
Something doesn't sound right with the chain/sprocket, make sure there's nothing else in the oil.
ruclips.net/video/d54GN6TjsBY/видео.html
Make sure someone didn't put gas in the wrong hole. Looks pretty liquidy.
ruclips.net/video/d54GN6TjsBY/видео.html
I agree
that dint look to free? click click? chain too loose too, should snap back after pulling it out.
ruclips.net/video/d54GN6TjsBY/видео.html
Interested to see what you find
Have you checked the full video out it gets even weirder.
Interesting, I have no clue. Can you get a case temp? See where the hot spot is?
The entire saw is the hot spot lol.
He probably means have you shot it with a temp laser. That's my guess.
@@k.56 yes I have checked with temp gun. Cylinder temps are getting close to 300
More simple The oil is contaminated with water ( rain?) The boiling point is lower . Looks exact like you have a few drips of water in the deep fat fryer as you heat it up.
check this out ruclips.net/video/d54GN6TjsBY/видео.html
Your exhaust is turning purple
Its getting hot
Too hot for a chainsaw!
Thats the conundrum!
It didn’t look like me it look like mixed gas made that mistake one time😅
its 40-1
I had a stroke reading that comment.
The muffler is right above the oul tank it helps keep it warm in the winter did you have it barred up against the tree is it hot outside ate you using a cheep then oil I would try some Stihl oil and see if that helps also make sure you dont uave a exhaust leak around the muffler that doesn't look stock to me but hay what fo i know
no bucking rounds with stihl oil. That is an aftermarket muffler cover but also have tried stock cover.
Stihl bar oil is a waste of money! And outrageous!
@@richardbadish6990 I don’t buy stihl oil this was a gift, I buy the cheap stuff.
That plug atill doesnt looke that bad
I didn't think so either.
Idk what normal oil temp would be. Almost has to be that muffle bowing exhaust on the case heating it up
The odd part is it doesn't do this on the 026 with same muffler cover.
Hot bearings in the oil bar causing radiated heat to boil the oil in the reservoir?
possible I guess
@@faithfulfarmadventures or it’s pulling air in making it look like it’s boiling.
Cheap bar oil
that was stihl oil and I tried another brand.
Something doesn't sound right between the chain and sprocket by the clutch. Check the alignment, correct chain pitch and also maybe something is up with the oil pump. If you ever take it apart, I believe the clutch drum has to go back in the exact spot to drive the oil pump.
thanks for the info I'll check that out.
Interesting
definitely
Have you tested one of your other saws that runs right and kinda use that As a baseline to where this should be at temp wise
No I haven't that's a good idea though.
Hopefully they will grow better this time
I sure hope so we need rain bad!
Still beats a rake and shovel 😅
Oh Yeah!
Can you do a video of takeing it apart and cleaning it

Out of curiosity do you like the mid mower?
Hope it turns out this time
Me to!
I've never thought about disking after seeding. That's a good idea to get the seeds down in the moisture.
Thats actually the way I always do it and it works great. I'm always planting late in summer in low moisture lol, we were bailing hay when I planted so the big tractor wasn't available to disc it in so I tried the pasture drag. It worked but I like the disc.
Cant you find some weeder or rake and remove them? also plowing before planting might help.
I disced before but couldn't get back in the field to plant for a few weeks and weeds started. I had a feeling it wasn't going to work out but tried anyway.
@@faithfulfarmadventures ah I see good luck with the second seed!
😂😂😂😂😂
Any good auctions in Texas?
Honestly ive never checked but im sure there are!
Great video. Thanks for the ride along.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Is it the wrong tool if it works though?
Nope!
What about oil on the property?
Probably a decent chance.
Sucker for the ford truck!
Where’s the title?
The owner had died and the house looked like a hoarder lived in it so they probably couldn't find it.
Now wonder why they are selling everything to sell the land to a developer!
Yeah it had been completely surrounded.

I understand the wrong tool for the job lol. It still worked
They usually do lol
I haven’t been to a farm auction since my mid 20’s. I’m 58 now.
You gotta go again they are a lot of fun!
