The deeper a format's card pool is, the harder it is for a newer player to get into. That's just how it is. As for this particular event, white-blue blink is mostly older cards so that would be pretty much a consistent option.

In hindsight, I would definitely add the second Pact and a second copy of Oracle. LegenVD did it in his version and used Lurrus as companion instead.

My opinion is no, for a few reasons... - If you managed to play during the Mewtwo anniversary, you pretty much have a free power attacker in Mewtwo Y and a free power all-rounder in Mewtwo X... - Even so, if you don't know how to play the game, you probably will lose even with them. - As far as getting powerful held items is concerned, you can get three good ones at max level just by playing, and you only need to get a few others to level 20 which is only a matter of time. - Eventually, winning or losing a team fight will depend on how knowledgeable you and your teammates are. No amount of paying will help you win with bone-headed teammates, while a good team can overcome a held item level disparity (but not a bad item build).

The usual pauper control tends to be centered around blue-black: between counterspells, removal, and either the enchantments that slowly drain your opponent or Tolarian Terror + other big evasive creatures. Alternately, the blue-black poison deck is kind of control-tempo, but it is better in artisan than pauper. There are more options if you are not limited by Arena's card pool.

You'll notice how conveniently they placed the sale of Pokemon licenses right beside this one. See if you have any rental licenses that match. Otherwise, you are going to have to buy the missing ones. (Yeah, it's not a great answer.)

@@shepherdsgamingrun - It's my favorite one. You can actually make a pretty decent deck with just the contents of three of those. Just throw in a couple Doomking and you've got a proper deck.

Thanks. Life gain is pretty much the expected enemy. If the deck could not beat it during pre-video testing I would have gone back to the drawing board.

@@shepherdsgamingrun I am just really annoyed with life gain in Standard so playing such a mindless little deck felt a little hypocritical.

Ashnod was interesting in that it had the legs to go far with its engines, but eventually drawing dead would end it if you could not end your opponent.

It is not without fault, but it is apparently the most consistent and most bread-and-butter.

@@shepherdsgamingrun Nice! Also, just something to consider. Almost everyone runs Elvish Visionary for the +1 card. But I actually like Skyshroud Lookout a little better. It's also a 2 cost 1/1 like the visionary but it has reach, which can be relevant, and it seeks an elf instead of just drawing you a random card. So sometimes you need a land drop and visionary can get you that, but most of the time I want another elf to keep putting pieces together to win the game. Skyshroud Lookout.

There were some mistakes made as well in gameplay. It really could have been better.

Pardon my inexperience with colors that are not white or black. I guess going into Terror and Geyser would have been a good excuse to pivot to blue-red splash green. I'll keep that in mind.
