Hi David, that's actually a very good question. Generally any structure in water that will be exposed to 2ft of potential moving ice is at risk of failure/damage. When our piles are installed for a dock or boat lift in a lake at risk if freezing, we generally remove the upper section of the pile that will be exposed to the moving ice with the dock/boat lift and leave the lead section with helix in the lake floor. That being said, we could engineer a structure/foundation using our larger diameter piles to resist the moving ice. A combination of the larger piles and a bubbler would be the best combination to ensure the safety of the structure.

I also use containers and it would be easy if the provided clamps are incorrect to fab tabs that work with container flanges. However since containers are designed to be supported by the corner fittings if they offer sufficiently large piles you could use one pile at each corner bolted to a plate welded to the corner fittings. Anti-seize the bolts and all the threaded connections on the piles and braces before install for future adjustability (cheap and easy). My current containers sit atop and are welded to heavy steel beams (demolition surplus) so I can jack the joined pair at once. Yeah and that's triple the charge. Lol. Best way to go. A big O basepad Cinder blocks halves soaps 2x's 1x's and wedges. Cheap but yet very durable. Last forever.

Hello! GoliathTech’s installation equipment can drill piles through soil containing moderate sized rocks. Our machines generate the appropriate torque so that the helix can move rocks out of the way. If need be, the boom can be articulated in order to “steer” the helix around the rock during installation. In the case of larger rocks, the pile can be “pinned” to shallow bedrock, or it can be left on the rock if it is below frost depth.
