My hometown used to have one of those old swing bridges. Sadly, it has sold it's soul to the tourists so the bridge was demolished and a four lane high rise bridge replaced it. I can remember sitting on old bus number 3 waiting for the bridge to close. It was a quieter, better and happier time back then.

So stupid to have the second ferry just sit unused until it finally had to be scrapped . What a waste

@@travel-peter This was the first video posted that I have taken. The controls are quite smooth, and you can adjust it in the app as well. It was in roughly 30km winds as well so I was not sure how it would handle but it was fine. You will not be disapointed!

HI Roger. I'm making an amateur music video that mentions the ferry in the lyrics. Wondering if I could use about 3-5 seconds of this footage around the 6:40 mark. Would be happy to share the final result.

I still do. I rarely publish anything but do it as a personal hobby I guess. I purchased the Mavic 2 Pro and enjoying the new features, which saved me on more than a few occasions with it's obstetrical avoidance on all 6 sides. It is very time consuming and working full time limits my availability to spend more time on editing videos. We were up pass North bay last summer on vacation and had such a great time and the lakes were so beautiful! We are thinking of heading back up this summer but we will see where it takes us.

I just got the Mavic 2 pro myself. It’s my third drone. I like flying and even editing. But I know what you mean about time.

Always been Wonderdul memories from the first day all the way to the last day of my visit and I am still starving to spend coming days of my life in Tobermory - on the board of Chi Cheemaun - S. B. and the rest of the Manitoulin Island. They are truely my sweethearts and it is not possible for me to stop loving them. Every time I remember them - tears of joy pours out of my eyes. I have to do my best to go there and spend loving days with my Sweethearts.

What a beautiful footage - I have been on the board of Chi Chimaun so many times. S. B. M. I. Was one of my holiday destinations. Almost every year I stayed weeks in Manitoulin Island. I am also enjoying the music of this video very much.

Thank you. I was still quite new to the controls as it was the first of a hand full of flights with the drone. It was very beautiful there and anxious to return! We were never on the ferry as we came in by road but was amazed with the beauty of the vessel and a couple of days after seeing it for the first time, decided to capture some video.

Why don't they just make it curve more higher? Would be much cheaper than making this kind of things + guy working on that lil cabin 24/7

    • @taekwondotime

An excellent question.... and I have the DEFINITIVE answer: (In other words... all will become crystal clear.) *The bridge was constructed over 100 years ago by the Algoma Railway company to allow for TRAINS to reach Manitoulin Island* . The bridge predates the automobile and was never intended for vehicular traffic of any kind. Period. To create a curved bridge would make train based traffic impossible. Trains cannot cross arched bridges. Since the bridge will be replaced in the near future, I'm HOPING they will develop a new modern swing bridge that allows for 2-way traffic flow and NOT build an arched bridge. To create a fixed arched bridge that sailboats could pass underneath would mean constructing a much larger, much higher, and therefore much longer (as in 3-4x longer) bridge. Think Ambassador Bridge in Windsor/Detroit. It would likely cost far more money to construct something like that than the cost of a modernized swing bridge that has two lane traffic flow. Not to mention the tourist/heritage value of having one of the world's only swing bridges.

I would absolutely love to visit one day! I use to live in Michigan about an hour from the Canadian border & I would visit Canada frequently before you needed a passport to enter Canada. I loved Canada & back in my early 20's my brother & I seriously considered moving to Canada, but then marriage & kids came along & I moved to southern Indiana & it never happened haha. But maybe one day I will be able to visit... But in the meantime, I subscribed to your channel just in case you happen to post anymore videos! haha
