Cycling along long distance route the ‘Waterlinie route’ in The Netherlands
I hope you will enjoy this mostly POV-shot video as I cycle for a couple of days along the Waterlinie route in The Netherlands.
This long distance cycling route takes you along a uniquely Dutch water defence line, through beautiful countryside and past world-class heritage sites.
The entire route is 410km long, from Edam in the north to Bergen-op-Zoom in the south.

I suggest Ross if you want t name your bike. In Dutch the bike has a nickname ‘stalen ros’ (steel horse). Ross and ros almost sound the same.
That's a good suggestion!
A big reason why it doesn't feel oppressive is because the Netherlands commonly physically filters out high volumes of cars; from residential areas to these local rural roads. It has been a major thing since the 70's after the Stop de Kindermoord protests. The speeds might not be reduced as much on these rural roads, but a driver coming only every several minutes has a subjective and safety quality of its own. Especially when it comes to noise pollution, which can be very oppressive (even if you don't notice it) If you want to know more, I recommend the video "How to prevent rat running [442]" by BicycleDutch.

Hi Majdi, It is on the western coast of Ireland :-) More or less straight across the country from Dublin (on the eastern coast).

The whole river disappears underground just a short distance downstream of Thoor Ballylee, and it re-emerges in the lake in Coole , where Yeats wrote his " Wild Swans ".
