That sound the buck made was a snort-wheeze. It's an aggressive vocalization meant to intimidate other bucks. In 50 years of deer hunting I have heard it 2 times. We don't have bear and cats around here, but we have about a zillion wild hogs.

There are common scratch areas where many animals visit. It’s kind of like a community billboard saying “I was here” I sometimes recognize a scratch area while hiking. There are so many different ways to communicate.

Gorgeous cat. One of my 2 cats does the same as that weasel looking thing when it jumped up then both paws hit the ground. That's a sure fire way to stomp on a bug. 😂

That 4 pt. Buck was snort wheezing those little bucks and was really attack them with that huge rack. I've seen them do that and actually unalive the little buck.
