Spend time with my own 🌼 Master study, recreating a little copy of a Bouguereau study
Hey, creative souls!
Today, I'm challenging myself by recreating a master copy of William-Adolphe Bouguereau's study to learn some incredible portrait painting techniques. Let's draw with me in oil pastel!
I love Bouguereau'spalette for his portrait painting, the way he mixes warm, natural flesh tones and also the warm hazel for expressive hair.
This practice time of mine isn’t just about copying a masterpiece-it's about gaining new insights and inspiration for my own creative journey.
So if you are also learning from Bouguereau, please sit back, relax, and enjoy the process!
Don't forget to subscribe for more art adventures! 🎨✨
Happy painting, everyone!

Master copy of Elisabeth Vigeé Le Brun portrait painting - Reference for my art practice
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 месяца назад
Hi folk, Let's draw with me. I just decided to do a portrait master copy with oil pastel from one of the greatest female portraitists of the 18th century. Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. Or maybe we can name her one of the greatest artists of her age, despite of gender? Vigee Le Brun's portraits are renowned for their softness, depth, and expressive quality. I discovered that using oil pastels to emul...

In my Studio l Recreating John Singer Sargent with Oil Pastels, Draw with me 🎨

Hey folks! Today marks a big step for me as I take a journey into the world of oil pastel portraits for the first time. I decided to recreate a Sargent's portrait painting this time. In my studio, I've got my oil pastels ready, a blank paper waiting for me to dive in. But be real - I'm feeling jitters before starting but eager to be started 😆 But isn't that what makes it exciting? It's a bit ch...

    Terrific color control, how do you approach it?

      Thanks so much for your compliment Wow, it's quite hard to think and process the answer :D but I think this is my way of taking control of the colors After analysing Sargent's painting, I focus on a picked palette (from my oil pastel resources) and gradually layer colors to keep things balanced. How about you-what’s your favorite trick for controlling color? I’d love to know more about it :3

    Are you using some kind of medium to blend the oil pastels?

    • @Cecilia.selfgallery
      @Cecilia.selfgallery Месяц назад

      Oil pastel is soft enough for easily blending so I just use my fingers, q tips or tortillon for finer blending

      @@Cecilia.selfgallery Sure will continue watching your videos, you have well invested so many hours in your art, is a delight watching you combine colors. I have been looking for oil pastel tutorials, i learnt a lot watching your videos, the way you create darker values with complementary tones, also the use of greens in your skin palette which is not easy to harmonize. Best regards and do not worry much about likes and subscribers, just keep growing as an artist.

      Hi! I use D'Artigny Oil pastel Fixative from Sennelier and Liquitex Matte Varnish (Acrylic Medium). I apply the fixative during the painting process and also when it is finished, then the varnishing.

    This is wonderful! How long did it take, may I ask? I was thinking about giving up oils in favor of oil pastels because oils take so long to set and dry, especially when using an impasto style. These oil pastels give wonderful texture; love it!

    • @Cecilia.selfgallery
      @Cecilia.selfgallery 3 месяца назад

      It took me around 3 days for the whole process + filming. I agree that oil pastel did good on impasto technique but I think it also has some limitation on the color range. And oil painting is good at mixing and creating new color but it take time to dry 😅
