Ranking ALL 100+ Treehouse of Horror Segments (Part 2)
We return to the Treehouse of Horror to look at 27 more segments as we continue soldiering on to our ultimate goal of ranking every single Simpsons Halloween special ever! In this video we enter the early post-classic era of the show as these segments take us to the very start of the HD era and beyond the point where I have previously argued the show overall became bad. So, how does this generally acknowledged decline affect the quality of the Halloween segments specifically?

In this video I begin a 4 week project in advance of Halloween to rank every single Treehouse of Horror segment on the Simpsons. The use of the word "Jews" and implying that all Jews support Israel's actions I would say is inappropriate, but other than that, do you genuinely think the creator's criticisms of Israel committing war crimes is antisemitic? Like, is ANY criticism of Israel "hateful and somewhat antisemitic"... or just the wording as it was in this video?

    Hey everyone! Just dropping a quick pinned comment to address a recurring objection. I guess my voice makes it really hard to tell when I'm joking or being facetious, and usually I don't mind that. Like how everyone on part 1 thought I genuinely didn't know what King Kong was. It's probably my fault and I'm just bad at performing with my voice when reading from a script. I kind of had that down as one of my biggest weaknesses as a youtuber anyway, which I'm trying to work on. But in this case during my ranking of You've got To Know Where to Golem I made a comment that I intended to be taken as a facetious joke, and a lot of people are taking it more seriously than I expected. I'm sure there will still be people who didn't think it was funny or appropriate and that's fine. No accounting for taste. But for anybody who's solely offended by it because they think it was me being completely serious, just know that's not the case. Thanks to everyone who's checked out this video! I really appreciate it!

    The Raven is scary to Homer, because it is a metaphor for death and as the adult, who is therefore more conscious of his mortality, it scares him, where it doesn't scare the kids. That's always been my reading anyway...

  • @NobodyC13
    @NobodyC13 6 дней назад

    For "The Raven" segment: "I don't know what Homer was scared of," there in lies the point that Homer, of all people, understands the poem better than the kids do, especially Lisa. It represents the divide kids and adults have over what qualifies as "scary" or "horror" given the first two segments feature more childish -- and therefore -- primal ideas of horror like haunted places or things trying to eat you. Whereas "The Raven" is more adult in its scope on horror given it's about a man mourning the loss of his love and a seemingly supernatural raven haunting and taunting him that he will never see said love again, driving him to madness. Homer is a grown man with a lot to lose, the fact he's cast as the protagonist along with Marge as Lenore in the segment reinforces this, and the idea of never seeing her strikes a chord within him. So the kids can only rationalize the horror in "The Raven" as like Friday the 13th: Part 1; tastes were different and people were probably easier to scare in 1845. Homer understands the "The Raven" as potentially losing your loved ones and being driven mad by your grief and hopeless longing.

I have no issues woth your analysis, thoigh ironically despite Mother and Child Reunion being so contradictory, i almost think Lisa not going to college is a really cool thing to add to her character and id almost want to follow through with that. Does also makes her more poised to stay in her home town and marry Nelson. Honestly, Barthood's trajectory for Bart was flawless so I'd just make that be what happens and then stick with it.
