I always spray my plants twice a year, once in the beginning and once in December. And always when I bring a plant inside Just in case. I two have snake plants and have seen the name Sansevieria for Dieffenbachia I also look my plants over when watering just in case of pests and as soon as I spot them outside it go's and it get's spray, another way is using vinegar (white) and water, wipe the leaves down to remove pest and Dust it cleans the leaves and removes unwonted things.

I’m super interested in growing on planks but I have one question that I can’t seem to find the answer to! If I want to chop a plant as it matures, do you just kinda pry it off of the plank? I’d be afraid that I’d damage it if it attaches. With moss poles, I’ve heard it’s easier to chop because the aerial roots are larger and you can dismantle the pole if needed. If you are using a plank would you just pry it off, cut, wait for the cut to callus and then pot the top cutting straight in soil at the bottom of the plank again?

I cant relate to this. Im very patient with my plants, but its interesting to see that some people just cant wait for their plants to get bigger! 90% of my plants are rescues, cuttings or broken pieces. I hope you start posting again, I really like your collection and how you present yourself. You talk to us like friends not an audience and I enjoy it. Hope you and your plants are doing well!

Be careful with sulfur. When you mix it with water, it will yield H2SO4 (sulfuric acid) and thus mess up the Ph of the soil. It is not immediate but will happen. I stopped using it for that reason.

What state are you in? I love your spirit and approach to plants. If you were near me I would pick you up so you do not have to drive. I completely understand the anxiety… I always take the scenic route and avoid highways… It gives me an opportunity to enjoy country driving, nature etc. even for long trips. Relax - take a deep breath, give yourself more time and enjoy the local scenic routes

Thanks for the great advice. I love those trellises, they are absolutely beautiful and your plants look healthy and happy. I use grafting tape to secure my plants to my cedar planks. How long does it take pothos to attach?

I currently only have Rex Begonias from Lowes and Home Depot. I allow them to dry out almost completely before watering and they have done well the last 6 months. I am looking at getting named varieties in the coming year. Maybe I will try cane begonias as well. Thanks for the information.

Thanks for this! They also hate lavender essential oil. I pour it on a Kleenex and lay the Kleenex out with a small desk fan blowing across it. The room smells good and the number of little buggers is reduced. I also ordered sticky traps. If they don't reduce the population to my satisfaction, it will be time for hydrogen peroxide. A week later: hydrogen peroxide has saved the day! I’m free of the little buggers!

Yep, I'm a begonia lover! But,....I focus on the FLOWERS, not so much the leaves. So I focus on acquiring begonias that have magnificent flowers and flower production. You should try it !

I've been wrapping planks with jute. It works out but I still use bamboo and yes moss poles. Im a philodendron person.

I'm on my 5th Dieff. plant. I've tried everything but within 3 wks. the leaves are white and brown and then the whole plant dies.

They don’t like to dry out completely. Not one bit.
