Riding through the wet forest trails, dumped bike twice, got lost, fun day!
Chinese Dirt bike SSR 189 opened up!

I've been too busy to really ride this bike, but today I got it out and opened it up. A lot was cleared for a new gas station, so I rode it on the road way and in dirt. It has a little bog and running rich, but it's pretty fast! Strapped Git2 camera to handle bars, there's a lotta shaking going on! This is only my 3rd ride on it and it's not bad at all!

Model A running 1st start in 60 years!
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.2 года назад
Wasn't sure if this would ever run, the motor was stuck badly, and hasn't turned over in 60 years. Tried a week of soaking, nothing moves, had to pull the head, surprising the inside looked pretty good! The gaskets, distributor, carburetor, linkages, intake, wiring & J-box to dash, key switch, radiator outlets and hoses, battery and cables, gas tank, fuel gauge, sediment bowl and all fuel lines...

After climbing 2 hours up the front side, this short clip of going down the back side of a mountain on ancient Inca trails, amazing beauty at every foot step! The sound was crap so I replaced with music.

Almost finished with the truck, just have to paint the bed, run wiring and install tail lights, install the rear fenders, and buff the paint job. Flatheads love the cold weather!

1935 Wayne 60 antique gas pump restoration
Pre 49’s sounded better than the later engine,or was it my imagination?
It's like 8 lawnmower engines connected and molded together. Now that's amazing Terrance
Nice job! Did you manually fill the fuel pump bottle with gasoline before priming the carb?
No I didn't
Thanks again for documenting these vehicles 👍
It looks great thanks 👍
It looks like this video is 12 years old I'm a new subscriber thanks again and best wishes from Columbus Ohio USA 👍
Thanks for viewing! I'm from Ohio Dayton USA! Texas now
2010 video so wonder where this car is at in 2022.? Maybe he died of carbon monoxide running it in a garage for a time.
LOL! Nope still alive but Old! Truck is in garage and driven on weekend's wins 2nd place in nearly all car shows entered, never 1st place!
Fucking awesome
I'm here after dreaming of owning one.....love love that engine rum rum sound
3:00 Good jams when it's not running, good jams when it is. I'm diggin it!
dome nuts to hold down the head? how do you properly torque them?
No those are fancy nut covers
Beautiful car!
Thanks!
Keep up the good work
you are really trusting of your brother to let him drive it.
WOW! Way to go Greg. What's your next project?
I have old gas pumps to restore, during retirement LOL!
What’s with the god awful music?
Is it that hard to look into the carburetor to see if it's getting fuel Thru the jets?
12v?? That cranks fast!
The interior is fairly good !
Shaky video; made me dizzy; couldn't make me watch more than a couple of minutes :I
Not in that bad of shape. A parts are readily available and you tube has a community of a enthusiast. Incredible original condition
Great barn find Ford Model A 4 door 3 side windows sedan 🚘 year. 1930 ! 😘🚘😀 Mike from Missouri
36 trucker Great sounding what part of Mo u in ? I’m north of Boonville
nice old original ford please dont customize it
Seems to me that the engine timing need to be advanced a few more degress, and I am thoudsands of miles away from this outstanding and impressive work of engineering, I still play with them after 68 years of age, would you like to bet a cup of coffee on it?, respectfully from Puerto Rico.....Jesus Torres.
I was thinking the same about the timing
These little old v8s are adorable. Around the 3.something litre mark if I recall. Lots of bark but not much bite.
Beautiful. Great post. Love the sound of those flatheads.
Love the sound of a ford flathead v8
The man dies not know what he's doing. Static time the engine, and spin it while the spark plugs are out. This oil primes the engine, and the carb. If I see one of my mechanics pouring gas down a carb he or she is in for an a$$ chewing.
Sorry to say it, but as I watched the video, I said to myself: "He's scared of it." You always look into the carburetor venturi when you pump the throttle. How else are you going to know if there is enough fuel in the float-bowl, for the accelerator pump to function? Oh well, I guess for some, it is educational. ... and for others, it is simply painful.
Must be converted to 12v. The old 6v system never spun over that fast. They always sounded like a coffee percolator to me. In a good way. There's an instrumental from 1961 - "Stick Shift", by "The Duals."
You've got some dummies here making stupid comments on your video flat36v8. They don't know the difference between flushing the cooling system & flushing the engine. In any case, you don't "flush" the crankcase with water, but some morons here don't know the difference. Nice engine by the way. I'm still trying to get hold of a 49-53 8BA, the best of the lot!
If your belching flame out of the exhaust, you've got ignition timing problems. That's why it won't start & stay running. Take some timing out & see what happens.
Other than the fact he poured almost a litre of gasoline down the car. Severely flooded......or did you miss that
@@lukethedrifter3363 "almost a litre", you really are a moron. The timing is out - that's the only way you get a flame-out through the exhaust or a back-fire through the carbie. Did you have a look at the bottle he was pouring from? It was a 600ml. water bottle which was way less than half full & even then he had a heap left. He's running a flathead fool & even the amount he poured down was the same amount I'd do on my '31 four cylinder. Might be an idea to learn a bit about what makes an engine run before you comment here!
I wouldn't use engine flush on anything I cared about. I've had to do a major rebuild on engines after the owner used that stuff. Wiped the rod bearings right out.
mark agreed. Any engine needing a flush should be torn down and properly rebuilt. I saw my dad fry the rings and bearings in an engine he flushed.
@@firebrand07 Especially old engines like this that most certainly have been run on non-detergent oil-there's a ton of muck in the bottom of the pan that will get dissolved in the flush and run thru the entire engine.
He flushed the cooling system, not the oil lubrication system. How the hell do you damage rod bearings by flushing the cooling system............Doh!
@@myredute You don't. In my area of the woods "engine flush" is what you put in the crankcase; "radiator flush" is what you put in the cooling system.
@@MrGatesmark I think he actually did just flush the coolant but my original thought was akin to yours
Shit
Bet that would be fun
Im goin to put a flathead on a Harlly frame
DUMPING IT ON THE GROUND IS NOT EPA APPOVED.
it's really none of your business.
Lol
Show 👏👏👏👏
Got to love Chris Cornell, I am the highway in the background! The motor sounded great too.
what cam are you using? I have an Isky "Impactor" 3/4 race that idles just like that
It's 100% original, an old timer rebuilt it for me, so Ford stock cam. I do know it doesn't have Johnson adjustable lifters, valves were ground to fit!
Omg.. Bit of start ye bastad ethanol in there helped lol..
Cranks real nice in 12 volts. Sometimes the starter spins in so quickly that it pulls the ring gear off the flywheel. I had a guy come in once looking for a potato to fix his flathead. It would vapor lock. He cut the potato in half and jammed one half down over the top of the fuel pump to keep it cool. It worked until the potato dried out!
Is fuel pump OK, clean gas in tank, ??? fuel lines OK ??? Love flathead V8's . . .
Truck looks magnificent! Sounds great too, love when something from the past is more reliable than given credit for.
Thanks! It looks Awesome going down the road but not really a pleasure to drive compared to today's vehicles.
It wants to be a Merlin
It does sound similar
Good ear 👍
pure awesomeness!
I was inspired by the 1937 Aero Sport, Ford flathead powered sport plane . It flew on 85 hp and all the time I kept thinking if they installed a 255 Merc block,3/4 cam high comp heads ( 8.5:1 or better) two carb mfld ,headers...!!! I would be guessing maybe 155-165 hp at 4800 rpms but in the plane w/ 2:1 prop reduction ,limiting the engine to 4000 rpm , it ought to perform quite well...!!! Well, those thoughts were those of a 15 yr...!!! Now, 60 yrs later I built an 80% scale Spad 13 but instead of using a heavy cast iron flat head I am using a 4.2 Rover/ Buick aluminum V8 set up to run 4400 max eng with prop turning 2100 rpm. Hopefully we fly it on the 100th anniversary of the Spad ( 2018)...!!! So much for the flat head in an airplane ...!!!
I'm 15, how'd you learn all that without the internet lol? Either way why the 255 and not 198? Is the weight difference not enough to make it work? I want a 355 or 331/337 with the biggest flywheel I can stick it to in an f100.
@@anonymousanonymous9991 Flywheel lol??😅
Dirty Heads song in the background haha
I don't know whether it's bass note or the "bubbling" sound or what but that sounds amazing.
The word is "burbling" not bubbling, which is for children blowing soap bubbles.
Original sound. thanks
Looks like the metal is Turing or u have a lot of shadows in ur blast it's not a very clean blast
