Historical Qin Shi Huang is super intriguing to me. On one hand, he was a cruel lord of the first police state in history (People were punished not just for their crimes, but also for not reporting on crimes of others, and that was just one example of his cruelty), while on the other hand he was a great visionary (often said that he must consider hundreds or thousands of years ahead when making decisions, standardised everything from money through roads to writing troughout all of China, abolished feudalism troughout all Chinese kingdoms he conquered which is something European countries didn't manage until over 1500 years later, and created the very title of Empire of Qin - which we call Chin; China). Also, it only took him 9 years to conquer 6 kingdoms and unite China, one of which (Chu) had an army of over 1 milion. And later in his reign, he refused to go to bed before reading/reviewing/signing at least a few tens of kilograms of documents (Written on bamboo). Man was on a whole another level. As an emperor, conqueror, reformer, steward, he was simply incredible. His methods were cruel, but he still improved standard of living significantly. Overall, a perfect legalist ruler (Which is a philosophical movement he promoted).

It still baffles me that they got me to sympathise with an inhuman creature who just a few chapters ago intended to murder most (if not all) of humanity.
