Lounna is the indie-folk project by Pittsburgh songwriter/producer Brenna Slate. Inspired by artists ranging from Bear’s Den to Gregory Alan Isakov to boygenius, her songwriting combines indie, folk, alternative, and americana genres to shift from soft sonic scapes to indie rock ballads. Lounna's songs portray mental health, difficult life circumstances, and lessons learned while simultaneously highlighting what it means to remain hopeful even in the darkness.
In January 2024, Lounna postponed the release of her second record when her husband was diagnosed with lymphoma. In lei of the full project, she released the highly reviewed single 'Peak Season', which was deemed the harbinger of the full record to come. “‘Peak Season’ carries melancholy, yet it is also filled with incredible energy, like a beam of light in a dark room." (Indie Boulevard). Now that her husband is finished with treatment, Lounna's upcoming single 'Alpenglow' will be released on September 20th.
