Build a guitar - DIY guitar from scratch

In this video I build a Fender Jaguar inspired guitar from a fallen ash tree slab. No templates or plans were used to create this guitar and it has a totally unique shape, size, and sound. I just got mine about an hour ago. Same reasons as you. I can't wait to get started - helping a friend drop some giant oaks blown over from Hurricane Milton in Florida. Giddy! Going to be a fun weekend. Came with a 36" for working, reviewing now to find the right milling w/ripping chain. Thinking 48", we'll see. Thanks for sharing your post.

hey bro this is really cool and insightful for an amateur learning to woodwork. I have a question for you, what size should the dowels be in comparison with the holes typically for anything that you are making as it needs to be slightly smaller right but not too much smaller? also how do you stop the wooden dowel from coming out for anything you are building whilst still making it possible to rotate? if you glue it, it will become stuck no? Lastly, I've seen people use brass or metal rods instead of wood dowels for these types of builds, is there a big difference between the rods and the dowels? thank you so much

@@Vincent-wv5ut thanks a lot for taking a look! You are right and I can’t give you a straight answer, drill a hole in scrap and test your dowel. I used glue to hold in but you could also split the dowel with a cut on the end and a wedge. I used glue and put wax on the center hinge. Thanks again

I am having a hard time finding hardwood. My local sawmill just cuts coal mine timbers, railroad ties and pallet lumber. They use a lot of oak logs. They won't sell to an individual. But they will give you all the 4x4 and 6x6 cut offs for free. Or for $20 bucks they will bring you a pallet as high as they can stack of aged 4x4 cut offs for firewood with a loader in our small town. They are free of bark and already square buy only around two to three feet long. Maybe I should do this, they fit in my 12 inch planer but I would need a larger bandsaw

Well , I was really excited to see this video at first, but needless to say so very disappointed, 1, because it was all music, I hate videos with music in them, 2, it was not a step by step, explaining video, & 3, it was a sped up video, 4, it wasn't built by hand without any power tools, 5, there were no exact measurements, very disappointed, & for all of this, I won't be subscribing, now, you want to redeem yourself, & impress us all, do a video, without any music, replicate the build of Mr. Dick Proenneke's log cabin, explaining step by step, how he build everything, with exact measurements, in real time, with no power tools, just as Mr. Proenneke did, using the use of almost the same size logs, & most importantly, exactly how he built the roof, to almost exact size logs, & how he made it waterproof, if you can do this, I will subscribe, like, & share, but until then, I wasn't impressed with this video at all, & I must correct you, his last name is PROenneke, not penneke
