How To Find Bass Anywhere In The UK!
Want to collab in summer I live really close to there and I’m going there?
Always up for a collab
@ I’ve never fished before… 🤣 but I’m going for the first time in the summer
Major factor to consider also is Barometric Pressure. People always overlook that critical measurement.
@richardjones2811 barometric pressure, moon phase, wind direction etc are all factors. Tides is where to start 😎
@Anglingaddict75 Yes Wayne tides are significant but there's always a tide. Neap tides, spring tides, they always produce fish when other factors are present. You can blank on either of the pressure is wrong.
It is a code I want to crack on my local marks when the water temperature rises a little, only 5 degrees at the moment on the Lancashire coast. Great info Wayne ✌
One of the best codes to crack. The water is quite cold here at the moment as well. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Lot of truth in this . Wasted a couple years early on catching fish but not consistent always fishing a certain tide to high tide when the water was deeper not realising fish still lurk in the shallows
I went to this beach and caught ten flathead in half hour. Went back a week later same day same time similar conditions and caught none. It's a shitty game 🤣
But addictive as hell 😎
Good video again!! I remember when I started I didn't really know what neap tides and spring tides were, I also didnt really think about whether tides were getting bigger or getting smaller, I think it clicked for me at some point that where I was casting one day there wasn't a rock there, jutting out the water, and the next day there was, the day I caught a fish, there was no rock showing, that fish was using that rock to ambush or stay out the flow, on a smaller tide, that opportunity didn't exist for the fish.
Thank you. Those ambush points can be deadly for catching!
Any one fishing Christchurch harbour for mullet in the summer with spinners tipped with rag or maggots ! Low water when the fush are shoaled up in the channels is the best .
Nice video, as always, Wayne. I was fishing on the opposite bank this morning. Water temperature 6.1C today - absolutely freezing! I don’t really care if I catch - it’s just so nice to get out. And no, I didn’t catch any today. Bring on the summer!
@999markas was that you there about 10ish, give or take? If the water was that cold no wonder there was nothing about. I thought i may have seen one belly flash but that could have been my eyes playing tricks on me. Think I'll be on pike until the water warms up till at least 7.5.
Wise words Wayne 👍🖖💫
Dont mind sharing info but in the summer i was in fareham and was fishing hill head sailing club. The only time the bass were there was the last 2 hrs till low late afternoon. All other times and points of the tide were dead. 🫣
Tides and marks are funny that way, two different marks rarely fish the same on the same tide.
Hey Wayne good to see you buddy, last year my two biggest bass came on Low tide. just before it started flooding in the estuary, they were sat there waiting for the flood to start.
@Kernow-Bass I like a low tide session
Hello mate, will you be going to The Big One at Farnborough by any chance ?
I think I might be going on the Saturday
just gonna watch this now, want to try lure fishing soon, is that the hamble?
That is the hamble 😉
@Anglingaddict75 thought so, beautiful river, I live 2 mins from there. Was actually fishing it today for a couple hrs. No bites but nice couple hrs
Used my expensive kit to make the perfect cast into a sure spot, lure had a fantastic action, my experience convinced me it was retrieved at the right speed and depth, Nothing! A few swims up a kid hooked an 8lb pike on two maggots while winding in his swim feeder. I love fishing.
@mickbedford4678 that's always the way. Some days it makes you think why we do it 🤣
Good fishing! 👏🏻 how dare you use a Jig fly on a Lure rod 🙄😂 all that matters is your catching! I fly fish but use jigs on my lure rod also, if you don’t have a 7/8 weight fly rod it’s the next best thing, love your videos mate! 👌🏻
@jamespugh9214 glad your enjoying the channel, very much appreciated! A lot of the places I fish for pike I can't get a fly rod into, well I probably could but I'm not skilled enough 🤣 Hence the adaption 😉
Nice pike man, I think I might try for one myself soon! do you need to use a wire trace leader?
Definitely use a wire trace, the toothy ones will bite right through a fluorocarbon trace. Hope you get a few!
@@Anglingaddict75 Ok thanks for the reply, will defo give it a go!
@7eventhSense Drenan Esox Soft Strand is what I use. 😉
@Just ordered some, thanks for the recommendation!
Fantastic rod, agreed on everything you said! I use an Art of Magic also, fantastic rod also. The Major has one of the best tips I’ve ever fished with, just wish it was 9ft like my Art of Magic, as the Art of Magic has the advantage of casting further, I know bass are close, but sometimes you need that little bit extra.
I'm so tempted to get an Art magic. Does it live up to the hype?
The tip isn’t as sensitive, but not far off.Its super close! It Does everything as good, but casts way further! very subjective as I love both. I love Apia and Major Craft Sea Bass custom rods 👌🏻
Hello Wayne. I'm desperate for some advice. Recently moved to Portsmouth and looking for places to lure fish for pike and perch. However the only places I can find are portsmouth and District angling club waters. Are there any free stretches of river anywhere around portsmouth?
To be honest, if i go fishing for pike and perch i don't go around here, I usually fish the river stour. I don't know of any free stretches near Portsmouth I'm afraid.
@Anglingaddict75 no worries. Thanks for the reply. I'm originally from the Poole area so I'll head back that way.
@davidgofton8566 that's the direction I go.
Which country are you fishing ?
@@Crowzilla-UK Right here in the UK 🇬🇧
Nice one Wayne mate 👍
Great video Wayne now I know why you weren't out to play 😅😅
Great to see you on the pike I've just started this year hoping to catch one before the end of the season!
I'm sure you'll get into some, pike are little rockets !
Sorry but using flies for pike when using a lure set up is not the one ! For me ! Please use a fly set up.
Just shows that you don't need another set up to use Flies successfully. Not everyone can afford a fly set up, they're not cheap and this video shows another way 😁
I don't want to fill my garage with more rods, fly Fishermen are such purists, it drives me mad.
@Anglingaddict75 totaly agree , bit I've been chasing you as a loyal supporter off your channel to catch a bass on the fly ! You spend so much on your lure fishing set ups ! I'm sure you can afford a fly set up ! Fly fishing is about the fight on a soft rod .. will always watch and can't wait till you nail a bass or pike fly fishing! On another note if your going to use a fly with spinning tackle for bass or pike ? Try using a bubble float to get the fly down in the water ! Awesome for mullet aswell.
@SkrrtFishing I'm sure you've got a rod in your collection that will work. Stick a 7g cheb on a Pike fly and your good to go 😎
@rickphillips5098 I have a fly set up, 2 actually, I wanted to show people you don't need a whole new kit to get it done. I just need more practice with the fly rod to be more confident
Great video Wayne, totally agree with all your comments. Get out there and tight lines everyone 🎣
Tide going down or up
@beardedgaz this video was quite a while ago and I haven't fished there for ages but if I remember correctly it was on the ebb. And since then I have found the Slingshot Surface Irons to be FAR superior to a seeker 😉
Wayne , its about getting your lure infront off the fish and gettng the predator instinct to take over! Bass are predators they will sit on the bottom and attack like a great white shark would ! If your fushing in 10 ft off water you want your lure working between 8ft and 9 ft ! Unless bass are on a fishing frenzy and chasing a ball off bait fish . There not normally near the surface. I belive Colour off lure makes a difference but not as much as the depth your fishing the lure . Also best lure fishing is in choppy water ! Stired up and the fish come close in .
Bit too much for me! 🤑
It's worth every penny!
@Anglingaddict75 no doubt my man. Enjoy!
Some fantastic advice there Wayne 👌🐟🎣
Oops I forgot to say I love your enthusiasm too 💪
@kevinbuckler1085 very much appreciated 👏
I agree with everything you said, like the old saying goes, opinions are like assholes … everyone’s got one.
@dennisrichard4480 thank you and your right everyone has an opinion..... behind a keyboard most of the time 😉
Never heard anyone say any of these myths, never . Especially no. 1 of a certain retrieval speed . This video was just about babbling cause your not catching to make videos 😂
@FOXY-2023 There's always going to be one 👌
Brilliant video as always. Would love to get out and do more, but miles from coast. When I do it's new forest / Bournemouth areas.
Thank you! What about freshwater predators? Pike, perch etc
@Anglingaddict75 yeah I've got 2 boxes of different shads etc and only been used once, had a go on the barbel in December. Plus really like trotting too for chub etc. Went christchurch harbour on lure last summer and had 2 sea trout( both returned) on lures which was amazing. Will definitely give the perch etc a go in next few weeks though and see what happens. Oh and grayling on the frome etc as it's on my bucket list.
@darreneastwell3318 the chub are still eluding me, perch was a target this year but chub seem more of a challenge. I had a few pike at the weekend which was good 👍 that video is incoming 😁
Well done Wayne 👏 Spot on content, water time you won't catch them if you ain't putting in hrs and miles,😉

Don't know if you have watched The line laboratory on RUclips, Now there's some myths around Braid, I think they've tested over 200 braided Lines in the laboratory properly, Well worth watching, I bet the tackle trade doesn't want you to see this, And my conclusion after watching it, Buy cheaper braid change it more often, Seaknight Manster W8 Braid £10 for 500m or Sufix 131 £46 for 150m.They've tested both in the laboratory and the seaknight came out on top.
@@RichardDavidGodfrey I haven't seen it but will give it a watch. There's got to be a reason why you can pay £10 for 500m?
@@Anglingaddict75 I would gladly pay a £100 for a spool of line if I thought it was 10 times better, But that's only my opinion, I really do think we are been ripped off, There's another good video on there and it's comparing old line which has being on a reel for 12 months, two what they had left on the spool very interesting what happens to the braid,( Is used line weaker than new line,) But they are only my conclusions.
100% 👍
Go fishing go go fishing 😅
@@nimo484 yep, just go fishing! You won't catch sitting on the sofa!
@Anglingaddict75 less theory more action...🧨
I completely understand and I'm with you! There is a pike session in edit as we speak 😁
Thanks Wayne
I remember the first flounder on a lure I was amazed, that’s going back 30years back. Still lure fishing and fly fishing.
There is a HUGE misconception that bass are the only fish that will take a lure, holds so many people back I think.
Before I started lure fishing for bass and other fish, I always thought or didn't even think really, that it was about casting a lure out in to a body of water and just winding in. As I've gained more experience I think I pay attention to details more and you are right in what you say, that blanks are important, blanks can be another piece of the puzzle solved. Lure fishing is great because you can just chuck it out and chance it and win, but you can also strategise and theorise on many levels :) Its all good fun and people who don't fish will never understand the addiction!
This is awesome and exactly what the addiction of lure fishing is about. Having fun and moving all the pieces of the puzzle around until they fit or at least almost fit and then trying another way!
I'm a marine science graduate, and I'd like to add one snippet of information to this great video; Red light travels poorly through water and as such most (not all but most) fish have quite poor red vision and lack the cells to detect red colours well. Especially in deeper waters, since the more water the daylight travels through, the more red light gets filtered out by the water. This means that to many fishes eyes red lures do not appear as vibrant as they do for us humans, but appear much darker. Therefore if you're wondering why you should use a red lure, remember that it will be much darker to them and so they're probably best used in lower light levels like you described for other dark coloured lures. I've heard anglers asking what bait fish are they trying to mimic with red lures, but they don't appear red to most marine predators. Incidentally this is why you should ideally use red lights when fishing at night, because the fish have a much lower detection level of this colour of head-lamp when it shines on the water, thus helping you be a bit more stealthy. I hope this is useful info for you guys.
Wow! This is very useful 👌 Thank you for this!
@@Anglingaddict75 Equally, thank you to you Wayne... for stimulating my interest again... My father died two years ago and I used to fish with him or talk enthusiastically with him about my solo sessions. Since his death I lost my mojo, and haven't been out with a rod and hook since. I just watched this video and you got my taste for it going again. I'm going out to fish in his memory this week and it's thanks to your enthusiasm and obvious love of the sport in this video. Keep doing what you do and stay cool! 😎🎣
@WolfricLupus I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad this video could be that inspiration for you and bring some of that mojo back. If your ever stuck for conversation on anything fishy, I'm all ears and eyes! Tight lines dude!
Very true especially getting out and fish with your kit and lures. I went over to lrf and learned so much it was unbelievable, my lure game is much better for it
Even if you don't catch, knowing your kit is half the battle!
Love it! Get out there, Stay Happy!
# 1 rule in lure fishing..... just get out there!
Been lure fishing for Bass for two seasons now, I have caught ZERO fish. I have a half decent rod, reel, line and selection of lures (many £ spent). My good lady decided she'd like to join me in my new hobby this year so we ordered her a temu special rod /reel combo, set her up with decent line and a lure from my box (SG pop walker 19g I think in green/blue) and we headed off to my favourite and well researched (for a newbie) mark. Within 20 minutes of me teaching her to walk the dog she had herself a lovely little bass. NONE of what people tell you will or won't work matters, it's exactly as you say, on the day, if you do it right then they'll bite. I missed 3 bites that day by being to fast and walking the lure out of the bite. Was still a wonderful afternoon spent by the sea with my best friend. That said, I'm definitely jealous as hell that she caught on her first trip and I still blank to this day but that's just fishing :)
This is an awesome little story and proves the theory. You said it yourself, you may have blanked in that session but you learned from it, " you walked the lure out of their mouth" . Bet you won't do that again! Blank sessions are learning sessions! Well done to the good lady for landing a bass but to be honest I may have been a little jealous too 🤣
Sorry but you just did not put the lure in the right place and right depth ! I fly fished for bass with floating line .. had so many follows but no takes ! Sinking line where yhe fly was just over there head made there predator instinct work ! Same with lures! Keep trying and I would suggest of you think there are fish where you are put your lures above there head !
When you catch a fish of any type anywhere ,lift into it not just reel in
Great video. I decided to employ lures on the North Cumbrian coast. People suggested it was a waste of time….but! Oh no it’s working out.
Welcome to the addiction 😎 No matter where you are, and fish will take a lure, no doubt! Glad your proving them wrong, KEEP AT IT!
