Brilliant! Not exactly... Now the system deleted the translated song text too. Argh... In very short: they are singing about every good, national, Norwegian thing in general. ('Nothing is mentioned, nothing is forgotten'.) It's A, or rather THE, TOAST TO NORWAY, Its heroes, freedom fighters, braveness, girls, wine and song... :-)

(About the video.) Maybe they concidered an open conflict would produce too little a gain for too great a great risk.) And in this way, it remained only a dettering factor to the British & allies. Nowadays, they are doing reenactments/shows, firing cannons and muskets, saluting at the May 17 National Day and at Bodø city's 'birthday' at May 20, and great occations. The company is sometimes used to promote the town through such as reenactment.

(About the video.) The Fort never saw military action, the soildier says. The British stayed out at sea, sending only their spies towards the coast. When the spies sent their reports of a well-defended city, the British didn't dare to risk their wooden walled ships up against cannonfire from the coastline. (Attacking a wall of earth and rock was probably a waste of precious naval ammo & dry gunpowder at best of times.

(About the video.) Thus, possibly hinting the 150 men were socially exploited, though getting some cash and some grain (?) surely would help feeding both wife and children as well as themselves - concerning the famine and the great need mentioned.

(About the video.) About 150 local men were building the fort, transporting everything they needed from the mainland by boat to the islet. Most of the labor was done manually - there were few horses. The soldier tells that the 150 men were young men that had fathered children, couldn't provide for their families, and was brought in as manpower (for the army).

(About the video.) Grain shortage: ( - there were great blocades and a terrible famine in Norway during those wars. It is a simple fact that a king need food for his people - but also and not least to sustain his armies of men young and old - able farmhands - which of course is enormously unproductive and expensive for any country in the long run.)

(About the video.) He then tells that is was build (as a naval fort) in 1807 to help protect 'the Dog Islet' ('Hundholmen') - now the city of Bodø - from the British (Fleet), which were enemies (of the Denmark-Norway Union) during the Napoleonic Wars. The fort was build to guard a strategic key point. There once was a giant grain storage here, they were trading with the Russians, who brought the grain in by ship. It was a transit point for further transport down south.

As for what happens in the video: National romantic tunes, songs of the yearn for freedom & independence are heard as a soldier comes marching in, probably as if on patrol duty. The soldier greets the reporter in an old-fashioned manner. It seems his name is something like "Harald Rubakk". Then she ask him why (the Fort or bulwark at) Nyholmen (translates as 'the New Islet') was built. (The name suggests it was little more than a rock until it caught the army's eyes.)
