The unit shuts off at about 3 minutes into the sensor drying cycle and set E12 fan code. However, I can set unit on time dry for 2 hours and fan and dryer operate as they should. I have checked wiring connections, drain filter, exhaust fan operation, and for any signs of Lint build up that I can. It's my thoughts the moisture sensor may be bad causing the the fan to shut down. However, I can't ...

RV ROOF DELAMINATION REPAIR

This video was created to share an "out of the box" idea/way to repair an RV roof delamination problem. The roof was replaced by an un-named repair shop in piedmont area of NC. The roof was replaced in May of 2022 at a cost of just under $10k. The shop opted/offered to replace roof by adding a new layer of Luan panels and covering with PVC roofing material. It seemed like a reasonable idea. The...

    To be honest since the date of that timeline video I have overseeded that lawn twice with different varieties of turf type tall fescue. By the end of the summer in 2022 dry weather had taken its toll on the bulk of lawn even with some weekly irrigation. I overseeded in the late August 2022 and it didn't appear I had gotten good germination even with multiple irrigation cycles per day. I was truly heart broken. By January 2023 I began to see signs of new growth along with winter weeds. I spent the entire winter, spring and summer fighting weeds and hot dry conditions. I did manage to get most of the fescue through the summer without major losses this time. In order to keep the grass alive I had to begin irrigation at a rate of 800 gallons per zone/week over seven zones. That is the equivalent of about 1 inch per zone. I continued the irrigation for about six weeks until I overseeded again in mid September. Then I went back to irrigation three time per day for four weeks. Since mid October I have only Irrigated about one inch but the weather has been dry and needs more water. The cost of irrigation is crazy expensive for 1/4 acre per month at about $170. Growing turf type tall fescue in the transition zone is a challenge.

    Was this the southern or northern blend?

    • @ronniewetherington509
      @ronniewetherington509 Год назад

      Thank you viewing my video and inquiring. I am not 100% sure. I did purchase the seed at our Lowes in NC. I went back and looked at my detailed records for more information. I can't verify if southern or not. But, I do know what seed varieties were in the mix. 10.1% Rebels Tall Fescue, 10.1%ATF 1258, 10.1% Pennington RK4, 4.15% Legato Rye, 4.1% Survivor Chewings fescue. After 145 days, heavy losses of new growth due to extreme temps and dry conditions, I overseeded the area again with 60 lbs of Pennington Rebels Tall Fescue blends. This was the best seed blend recommended by Jacob Barnes at Pennington for this location due to the extent of more sun than shade. It contained 32% Pennington Rebel V and 15% ATF 1258. This has been an ongoing struggle since I began trying to establish a cool season grass in our location of the transition zone in NC. That was my 3rd attempt. I had done two previous seedings in the spring and fall of 2021 and suffered great losses due to heat, dry weather even with irrigation, and trying to compete with heavy crabgrass choking out everything. It has been a big challenge. Thanks again for watching and inquiring. I have a lot of good detailed records and lessons learned I can share if you're interested.

    Do you have concerns about all the moisture that's trapped in there? I'd be worried about it molding or continuing to cause damage over time. Seems like it would be hard for that moisture to get out.

    • @ronniewetherington509
      @ronniewetherington509 Год назад

      I'm hoping the moisture is minimal. When I inserted my injection tube into the delaminated areas and removed it to create open channels for injections, there wasn't a lot of moisture on the tubing. This is an unusual roof. The original roof and substrate layer were left intact. A new layer of Luan was installed and glued to the original roofing and then covered with PVC. So, there is actually another layer of roofing below the new roof.

    It always annoys me when so-called professionals are stingy with the sealant. I'm sure anybody having a big job done like a roof replacement would happily spend an extra $100 to have the person doing the job go overboard on the sealant instead of under board.

    • @ronniewetherington509
      @ronniewetherington509 Год назад

      I totally agree. This whole roofing job was done incorrectly. It was my understanding the shop was going to add the new decking and PVC membrane and terminate the PVC at the original side terminal strip. When I went to get the RV I found they stopped the new roof at the top of the radius and installed new terminal strips. So, now the new terminal strip creates somewhat of a damming effect for water at the lowest points. I'm pretty disappointed with the way it was done.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC Год назад

      @@ronniewetherington509 That sucks. Out of curiosity why didn't they remove the entire original roof and just replace it with a new one? That seems like the way that it's done most the time when I see videos about roof replacements

    • @ronniewetherington509
      @ronniewetherington509 Год назад

      @@DoRC that's a good question. I believe the shop manager/estimator was looking at a way to get the job done quicker and cheaper than removing the original roofing membrane. The original roof only had one small soft spot above the driver area. It was less than 10x10 inches. Looking back now, I'm not even sure if the roof substrate was really bad or not. What he described doing didn't seem like a bad idea. In fact I was thinking it would just make a more solid roof. What he didn't explain was they didn't plan to terminate the new PVC roofing membrane back at its original point over the radius along the sidewall. I wasn't aware of terminating the new membrane on the top side of the radius with new strips. But, the job was already done by that time. I had concerns about what possible problems it might create!

      I will have to do a simulation of that. I wasn't able to hold my camera and do the physical job simultaneously. I wish I could have. I will give you the best written description of the procedure though. STEP 1: Remove caulking and trim screws. STEP 2: Slowly and carefully work a heavy putty knife under the trim edge and roofing membrane. Carefully lift up the trim and roofing membrane just enough to work the injection tube into the delaminated luan being very careful not to puncture your outer roofing membrane. This is not an easy task. You will likely have to forcefully work the tubing through the delaminated wood which is why thinner tubing is better! STEP 3: Create as many injection pathways as needed to reach the furthest points of damage. I marked the outside of my roofing as a guide with a pencil to help with reinsertion of the tubing during the injection process. NOTE: AFTER INSERTING THE TUBING INTO EACH PATHWAY, TRY TO BLOW THRU THE TUBING TO CLEAR OUT ANY OBSTRUCTIONS! STEP 4: Mix the epoxy as per directions. NOTE: THE BOATLIFE AQUAPOXY CAN BE MOSTLY CLEANED WITH A SOAPY WATER SOLUTION WHICH IS AN ADVANTAGE WHILE DOING THIS TASK. KEEP PLENTY OF PAPER TOWELS AND A SPRAY BOTTLE OF CLEANING SOLUTION AVAILABLE! STEP 5: Draw a syringe full of epoxy from your mixing cup. STEP 6: Insert the end of the syringe into the open end of the tubing. (You will have to physically maintain a solid contact seal between the syringe and tubing) While holding the tubing with one hand and syringe with the other. Slowly force the epoxy through the tubing and into the delaminated Luan. Occasionally if the epoxy becomes to hard to push in, stop and pull the tubing outward some distance to create more space. Repeat this step until you feel the voids are filled. NOTE- BEFORE COMPLETELY REMOVING THE TUBING, TRY TO BLOW THRU THE TUBE TO REMOVE AS MUCH EPOXY AS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE SPILLAGE! Then remove the injection tube and insert it into the next pathway. STEP 7: After filling the voids, which is a guessing game, you will then have to place heavy weights onto the surface to compress the delaminated Luan and squeeze epoxy into other voids near by. NOTE: BEFORE PLACING BLOCKS/WEIGHTS ONTO TO ROOF, LAY PIECES OF THIN WOOD OR OTHER SOLID MATERIAL ONTO SURFACE TO HELP EVENLY DISDTRIBUTE WEIGHT. STEP 8: CLEAN UP EXCESS EPOXY WITH SOAPY WATER AND TOWELS. I hope that helped explain how to do the job. I will try to make a simulation video. Thanks for watching!
