can you do a video on how you set your test stand up?
I want the motor but I'd guess I'm late?
Have you sold thos motor yet?
That's the best sound in my opinion! I love the sound of a Mopar starting as well as the sound of some success!
I bought a 1978 D150 with an LA 360. First I had a vacuum issue, I fixed that. Now I'm having a situation where it will get spark to at least 1357, but I haven't checked 2468. It took me 5 hours to get started after changing out fouled plugs and too much fuel going to the carb because of an electric fuel pump I installed. I tried to chase wires because it was losing power... I had a voltage regulator issue. I almost had a fire because I had a wire running from the alternator to the firewall and that wire melted... it never did before so it's something I did wrong. The wires needed to be chased, and before I drive it again I'll be doing that. I had considered doing an EFI kit and also swapping a Hemi into it. I also have a 1972 New Yorker with a 400 in it so I've considered swapping them since it's about the same to bore out and install forged internals as well as aluminum heads. I know I need to rewire the truck before I do anything else before I lose it... it came from Cali and the car sat in a garage from 1980-2009 and now in storage since then, people don't always value your classic as you do!
Me gusta mucho
Yo tambien, tengo uno en en mi camión, muy bien motor
There’s plenty of those 318 LA or Magnum engines available with some performance improvements to make it go faster than stock
What is the best,,4bbl combo for the 318 mine is a 92
Nice motor.
how much
Very helpful video
Is this still available I have a 1988 dodge that has a running 318 but it still has the smog pump on it
is there a part 2 for this?
Its a better experience on light tackle. What section of the Yakima was this?
Below Grandview. About a half mile below the siphon that goes over the river.
What’s the cfm on that Edelbrock carburetor?
Thanks bub
lucky dog. i love these trucks.
I never heard of mopar using R blocks in police engines, not needed as the compression and h.p were low
I questioned that as well. Seems like a lot of volume (quantity wise) for a 'P' part. Even the E58's had cast cranks so why would they put a forged crank in a weaker 318?
do you still have this truck?
Well at least now when your alternator "runs away" you won't have a gauge to tell you. Seems like a great idea.
why not get rid of the model t lectronic junk & go modern. less wires, less hassle..
What brand long tube headers?
A custom modifications on the passenger frame for the headers. Sometimes we need to adapt, Rice ride!!!
Where did u get the pieces? Its awsome, wanna do on my truck 1985 with 318
Fast enough to catch you, but you can't outrun their Motorola's📡
by the way its 1-1-2021 i love your truck.
do you still have the truck?
no,i bought it.. i wish..
love those 74 and 75 dodge trucks. you scored on that one.
In '81 it most likely came out of a Fury. Those were most common chryslers at that time in use. Full size were still getting HP 360. Midsize (Dodge Diplomat & Plymouth Fury) got the 318 in several versions.
What size belt you use for the power steering pump? Restoring a 72 Dodge B100 and didn't have one really appreciate the help if I can get the brand name and part number thanks!
dam im watching this video six yrs to late. i would buy this motor in a hart beat.
Heart beat.
Had a 69 sport satellite with 318 and that was a quick engine. never an issue
I owned the 440 police pursuit in a Fury and even in that huge boat of a car it would run 200 miles an hour all day and hop the front end at 200 miles a hour. having 2.90 gears and a 727 set up for Arizona drug squad from 1972 was a big help it was used for the run from the border to the California state line. when Dodge set up cars for the Police they did the best job they could and did it with pride.
Very nice I just bought a $.77 Sportsmans RV and it was starting and running good and after the snow no power no dome lights no nothing so now I’m looking into it and there’s crappy wiring everywhere and I do remember the other night there was a yellow wire underneath the steering wheel that I touched the ground connection in the dash in the dome lights flickered I don’t know if that did some thing or what
I would like to see a video when that motor is all tuned. I put the same motor in my 73 Duster, it was a mean little machine.
A lot of lifter clatter?
The 318 never came with a 4 bbl in the 80s they only came with 2 bbl unless you got a boat engine
@@speakmymind2024 must have been but on
Lots of trucks, vans, and most all the cop cars, unless it was a 'patrol' car. They dropped the 360 from pass. car use so they had too. I think '80 or '81 was the end for 360 in cars.
I had a 67 Dodge D200 that someone had dropped a 318 in along with a 3 speed stick in the floor, It was rusted thru in a couple of spots and the passenger floorboard was eaten out so I used JB Weld and sheetmeatal to repair. It ran good and had good power so I did a cheap paint job and drove it like it was. Fun truck
who cares
all credibility lost when he said"pounds of vacuum" and did'nt bother to hook up temp gauge....wow
So what? He said he didn't have a sensor that would fit not that he just didn't feel like it. So what about the vacuum?? Who cares about your feeling of credibility?....wow. It's his engine and he can do what he wants with it.
relax dude,relax@@SCfanIam100
That Edelbrock is a copy of a Carter BTF.
What carb you have ?
If you're running hydraulic flat tappets, the lifters and cam need to be replaced and broken in together. Not new lifters on a used cam.
What is this motor still for sale
I have one from a 1982 Dodge diplomat WA State patrol car. We picked it up from Fitz in Woodinville in 1984 it was still in the car when we picked out the engine and trans. The 318 "race" block has the bores prechamfered for running 360 heads. Thats about it I think. Also inside should be a forged crank and connecting rods used on trucks. For low compression it was a screamer motor. Put a Performer intake and a holley #1850 carb. Put in a 1972 long bed 2wd truck for high school. Im just now rebuilding it, and i flogged it hard in high school.. (87'-88'). Still runs, but oil pressure is down. Time to freshen up and add Edelbrock RPM cam this time. I now have the RPM airgap for it. It has headers, h pipe and ran out the back. Should be "funner" with a matching bumpstick this time.
Just found out those blocks have slighly thicker webs, cylinders and .100 thicker deck . Glad I kept mine!
Sumbitch is tapping like a sumbitch
My 92 Dodge Dakota went to the scrap yard. It was literally falling apart from rust, but that 318 was still going strong. Always started without any problems, just changed the oil every 3K miles.
Dodge does a really good job, better than Ford i think. I have a 95 Dakota magnum 3.9 V6 and I love it plenty of low end torque. And yes, i never had a problem starting up, reliable as hell.
Does it have a windage tray in the oil pan
