Brisbane City Photo Walk - chill morning wanderings
Woke up early to wander around Brisbane city before the busyness of the day. We checked out the new Queens Wharf precinct and Neville Bonner Bridge, before heading to some favourite spots, grabbing coffee and a cheeky cannoli. It took a little while to warm up, but felt good to simply be photographing for the fun of it. It was good to practice "seeing" and made us keen to do more of this in the new year. Let us know if you enjoy this type of content and if you have any questions you can drop them in the comments :)

    Nice info in the vídeo. Thanks for sharing. I also start to use pictime to deliver the galleries for my clients. Do you feel happy with de quality of the high resolution photos delivered on pictime or do you deliver the photos in other plataform like wetransfer for a full original resolution? I feel like if clients want to print the photos, the quality of high resolution on pictime is not enough. Thanks 😊

      No worries :) We've been happy with the quality of high resolution images through Pic-Time. In the Pic-Time settings we have the high resolution download size set at the original size of the high resolution image we uploaded. Our high res images are typically exported at 5500px on the long edge and 300dpi. Hope that helps.

    Best to bring three cameras. I've heard of three stories of two cameras breaking down at a wedding. These are DSLR cameras. So maybe its not as bad with mirrorless and the electronic shutter. Also I have extra gear at home just in case my gear is stolen I can shoot a wedding the next day. When you get to the reception put your camera gear next to the DJ or band.

    This is somewhat difficult to explain or maybe not so difficult but you have to put yourself in the situation, the best thing you can do is use 3 cards in the following way, at the beginning of the wedding you start with card 1 and card 2, at some point, I do not usually wait to have 100% of the capacity of a card because that is perhaps too many photos, I make a change, card 2 remains the main one and I add card 3 and eventually when card 2 reaches a number of photos I put card 3 as the main one and end up with card 1 as the backup, that way you have the backup card 1 on card 2, the backup card 2 on card 3 and part of card 3 on 1, if you manage the times at the wedding you have not only a copy of the entire wedding but you have the wedding distributed so that if you lose card 1 you have half in cards 2 and 3, if you lose card 2 you have those photos in 1 and 3 that's why I use 3 cards, because if you only use 2 cards if you lose card 2 you lose half of the wedding with 1 more card you create like when you have the photos on a NAS

    Not hating on your photos because they are really good. But I think this is kind of a bad idea for some photographers to do. Even some of the best well known ambassadors from the big brands have messed up weddings when playing with their settings. I've even worked with some photographers that was shooting in M Mode and forgot to change their settings back to normal. Weddings can burn you out and some people their minds start to slip. Canon Ambassador Joe Buissink shoots in P Mode and only uses M Mode for flash. Now he started shooting like this back in the DSLR days. My Olympus cameras have a nice feature that I can set them up to display the image for 0.3 seconds after I take a photo. So if there is a mistake or I'm doing something I'll know to change the settings back to normal. Sometimes I like to drag my shutter and turn my lens and I get really nice photos. There have been times I forgot to change the shutter back to a faster shutter. But because I see the image right after caught the mistake to a faster shutter so everything is back to normal. On Reddit Wedding photographer there are photographers from time to time saying they messed up. I believe in safety nets that help you avoid from messing up.

    The first wedding I shot was a small gathering about 5 years ago for a couple friends of mine. They had 0 expectations and simply wanted someone to document the day, and being my first wedding it was a great first kick at the can. Ended up using a full-frame and aps-c duo, with a 35mm f/1.4 and 85mm f/1.8 combo. It worked really well because I could use the 35mm on the full frame for the wides/mediums, and the 85mm on the aps-c for ~136mm full-frame equivalent to get the tighter shots. If there was a point where things were moving a bit slower and I had time to swap lenses, then I would effectively achieve ~56mm and 85mm for a bit of visual variety before switching back. I definitely agree with the recommendation of a 35mm in your kit, or if you're considering shelling out for a 24-70, consider the 35-150 f/2-2.8 as a great all arounder (its on my wishlist).

    • @trentandjessie
      @trentandjessie 5 месяцев назад

      That sounds like a cool way to do it 👍🏼 We have the 35-150mm for video and it’s a great lens. Have used it a couple times for photos and it’s a pretty nifty lens, although becomes a little front heavy.

    I am going shoot events placing 3-5 lenses in my backpack. They are 16-35/2.8; 35/1.2; 50/1.2; 85/1.4 and 135/2.8. Sometimes 70-200/2.8 (depends on location). All are the Canon EF full frame, but camera is RF full-frame.

    Spot on folks. Well said in such a short time. As a retired wedding photographer who has taught such things as these to others you have nailed it. The biggest test I ever had was having a full on break down and panic attack in a wedding shoot. Fortunately my wife was there to reassure me and the couple never knew the problems I had in my head .The shots were fine.This was film too,not digital. Cheers Geoff

      Thanks for your words Geoff. So glad your wife was there to help you in that moment. We can all feel it at times, no matter how experienced we are. Thanks for being here Geoff.

      @@trentandjessie Thanks guys. It was not a photography related panic attack but other stuff and it was a case of where your experience gets you through. Although I don't do weddings anymore I am still a student of the craft and like to see what all the current people are doing. cheers Geoff

    Great video, guys. I always tell my couples that I want them to be able to recognise themselves in their wedding photos in 20, 30, 40 or 50 years’ time, so everything I want them to do, whether posed or not, has to be inherently “them”.

    I was expecting a comparison of the differnt AI softwares available. Your video seems to recommend Aftershoot rather than manual editing and culling, but I wanted to find out how it compares with its competition.
