All yall have to do is get the battery and unplug it leave it off for a while and plug it back in
The same problem with my Volvo V60 from 2014 and I can't fix it. Disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes led to nothing. The problem is still there. And I didn't find the solution in the internet despite it seems the problem is common. Really disappointed....
Volvos suck like all the rest. Rocket to the moon and back but engineers can’t build a descent lasting vehicle. From Recalls up the ass to major break downs.

Buy a rechargeable portable speaker. Pair it up with your iPhone. I got a JBL and pair it up to Pandora. Works and sounds great.

It was repaired under warranty. Had to go back twice due to garage ordering wrong item. I think it was mechanical rather than electrical.
My Skoda karoq sport line is behaving the same way now. More over I am having to close the lid manually.
Still no solution? I have a v40 2014, same problem, also proximity sensor not working, if I insert a CD, I can only insert manually almost till the end, rear camer worked one! 😂

Are these units plug and play or do they have to be programmed by the dealer if purchased used? i have an 'Volvo v70, 2012. Around a year ago the radio and infotainment system started to fail. and wondering if the problem is the ICM unit? . I was recently given the car and I have started to diagnose and try to fix this issue. The symptoms of this issue are the screen for the infotainment system not working but its turn on and hanging on and on, all of the lower lights and buttons work such as the heated seats and or the defroster and fan control. They all work . Up till this point when I turned the car on I would receive no light from the screen and none of the audio buttons such as FM, AM, and or volume not either, about 6 mounts ago the rear park sensor failed to show on screen. grateful for every answers

I have found the problem in mine.if You check under the glove compartment small fuse box i think it was no 17 Fuse mine was gone so i changed it and its working fine now.please check fuse 16-20 and hope this will sort the problem out
I just came across this issue with my 2015 S60 T5 AWD. Found 2 plugs behind the rear passenger seat that needed to come out and I sprayed them with electrical cleaner. Seemed to fix the issue. I dont have GPS in mine though.

I saw this is an old post but I just came across this issue with my 2015 S60 T5 AWD... found out there are 2 plugs to the amp under the rear of the passneger seat. I disconnected them, spray them each with electrical cleaner and plugged them back in. Solved the issue... at least for now.

Volvo dealer did replace whole stereo unit. Did fix problem for a while. Problem started again 6 months later after my warranty run out. Traded car for a non Volvo.
I had exactly the same problem. In my case, it helped exchange the amplifier. The amplifier is located under the passenger's seat. I have a premium sound version so I had to find an amplifier with a yellow sticker (yellow dot on the top of the case). The amplifier is plug and play. Good luck.

@@HM-yp8pv its under the front passenger seat bolted down with 3 wires connected to it.
Mike I can not see anything bolted down under seats.All there is one big connetor connected to seat
The whole of the central panel is not lighting up so the Volvo sign does not come up and I cannot use the phone or the parking sensor

I have same. Seems like software but i suspect a weak solder inside of the head unit as it stops playing when car (air) temp is warm. Any luck in diagnosing?? Thanks
I have the same issue (Volvo S60 2013). It happens occasionally and it occurs shortly after I have started the car. It seems to be related to heat because it is worse when it is warm outside or if I have been running with the heat on for a long drive and then makes a short stop. All sound is off, also the reverse parking aid sound.

@@gtaloony Yes, the output stage amplifier (correct word?) was replaced and it has worked since. I was a bit lucky that the failure happened when the car was at the workshop so that proper fault codes could be found. I will check if i can find the workshop specification note.

@@bigstrappa6155 Jag lämnade in bilen och hade turen att felet uppstod på verkstan så de fick rätt felkoder. Jag har ett papper med felkoderna någonstans, jag ska se om jag hittar det. Men byte av slutsteget var lösningen. Kostade en slant men det var så mycket som strulade att det inte var mycket att välja på.

I have the same problem with my 2015 S60. Although it does come on after a random period of time (5-30 minutes)
Good luck. Volvo will not admit there's a problem. Keep saying it's a software update needed.
Did you find a fix for this other than the dealer? My car is doing the exact same thing...
Had sound system replaced under warranty. started to do same again. As out of warranty period did not want expensive fix, so part exchanged for new car. Volvo have put to many computers in there cars which seem to have gremlins. Good luck

I have the same problem with my 2012 Volvo S60 T5; I have to turn off engine. Open door. Close door and then restart the engine. Sometime I also need to lock and unlock the doors. Volvo just tried a software upgrade; hope I don't need them to replace the sound system.
started to do same thing again. I decided to sell the car as out of warranty. I had a Volvo S40 previously and did not have a single problem for 4 years. Since purchasing the V60 it has been back to dealer numerous times for. failing exhaust sensor, lumpy gearbox, full ecu reset, and many software updates. I have gone back to German car manufacturer.

@@Betiko714 recently I found unplugging the left most big cable on the amplifier under the passenger seat for a few seconds works more consistently

Hi. I was lucky my car was still under warranty. Volvo tried to update software, still did the same. in end had to replace whole stereo system. not good news if your car is out of warranty. I have had a lot of gremlins in my electrics, I thought I was the only person to have problems with volvo. Mark
