      I have a couple VE calculators downloaded here's one of them www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NBLGGH51ZK7?ocid=pdpshare Can't remember where i got the other one but I use ATG's " Automotive Training Group " online VE calculator a lot which is free as well. atgtraining.com/atg-volumetric-efficiency-calculator/ Plus I have ATS " automotive test Solutions " Escan which is also loaded on my Zeus and I use it the most. The Escan has some great software for monitoring fuel trims and VE ! The absolute load PID and Calculated Load Pids are my go to for engines without MAF sensors or has a turbo\super charged engines. First thing I look at when test driving a car is the VE and then fuel trims! Is the Engine a good pump and is the computer adding or taking away fuel!

    Hey what up my brother I just did a relative compression test on my 1987 Buick grand national and I found cylinder 1 no compression channel 1 amp clamp and channel 2 on injector num 1 control wire the only thing that I notice is my injector firing line is not on the center of the hump don’t know if it’s the way we set the ignition timing we set it to 25 degree after top dead center and then we stab the cam sensor in look like a small distributors don’t know if you familiar with them.reason im asking because on you’re video you’re saying that if the firing line is not on center of hump it a indications that it could be a teeth out on the timing chain don’t know if he applies to every car or my car is different

    • @70corwin
      @70corwin 10 месяцев назад

      Can't use the injector for that since it doesn't fire at top dead center. Your injectors will be firing normally at the end of the exhaust stroke. You want to use the ignition signal for your sync. Like the number 1 COP on newer cars or number 1 spark plug wire on older ones. They make special leads for the plug wires but you'll still pick up a signal even if you laid your back probe tip against the plug wire maybe tape it on if you have too. Always use the ignition event for your 2 channel or sync.

      Never had a issue. Been up to 200 amps with it without any problems and you'll see it measure up over a 1000 amps on the initial starter spike at the beginning of the test on some cars. If your worried about it being accurate you can go to the high amp clamp but its always been fine for me. It reads the same as my high amp clamp , Had them both on the same car one on each channel and they were spot on. Plus you can also couple with A/C or even do it with traditional lead set on voltage coupled. I've always preferred this method though!

    I'm not the same as others here in thinking or saying it was a great vid. To my mind it left much to be desired. What you wanted to do was start by removing the tire, then "This is a repair that is difficult to do unless you have tools like a hydrolic jack,..." and go from there. How did you get the axle out? I'm right in the middle of this and a guy below is claiming that you could have done so without removing the axle. Geez I don't want to do that if I don't have to. How did you get the cover off? Can I get it off without removing the axle? Also difficult to see were the solenoids. How many are there, where are they,... "Some" shift solenoids, and the pressure control solenoid is what is in your vid. Ufortunately this was the only vid on this and I had to make some guesses. You seem like a great mechanic but many watching are non mechanics like me who have to do repairs like this or not drive due to finances. Try again. It seems like this should be about 10 minutes not the buck thirty seven it is.

    Quick question, what is best COP tool to use? I have the AES orange probe. I cant get a good waveform off of it on 3 and 4 wire coils. Any suggestions? COP-11 you mentioned what other lead will I have to get in order get the waveform.

    • @70corwin
      @70corwin 2 года назад

      Pico makes a set of test wires that fit COP's. There expensive but then you can hook straught to the wire and by-;pass those heavily insultated coils. The Cop-11 still doesn't help on all of them and you have to adlusted the voltage down very low. Does good on some though. Hooking to the wires gets the best signal. I'm not sure why but since they moved the transistor into the coil on 3and 4 wire coils the signal isn't as good. I miss the days of distributor ignition waveforms because they were so clean and easy to diagnose. Ford's 2 wire coils are nice since you have a actual coil negative like the old days and I just back probe the negative side and you got a nice clean primary signal thats easy to look at. Plus primary and secondary waveforms are mirror images of themselves so that works great on Ford COP.

    • @70corwin
      @70corwin 2 года назад

      There's different ways to do that depending on the leads you have. But this one i just back probed the wire that triggers the coil or the control wire whatever you want to call it with channel 2. Its the wire goes from the ECM to the coil. It was on a 10 volt scale but the actual trigger of the scope was still triggering off channel 1 the low amp clamp.
