What kind of floppy was that? 🤔 I've never seen such big floppy disk
Just a regular 5.25 inch disk. It’s grey, which is somewhat unusual.
Gracias por compartir 😢😅
where are emm386.exe and himem.sys ?
Jean-Joseph Mouret - Rondeau
make sure you install QEMM
Played some old school games recently. Kept wondering what DOS is. Dayum, don't know if I've ever seen such an old school setup before 😮
Good Man!! I have flashbacks
Nostalgic
I still have my complete copy. It came with both 5.25 and 3.5 floppies. My box, manual and map are a little worn but I have it. I still have my complete Star Flight 1 too. That one has a code wheel copy protection.
Nice. The first game seems pretty rare CIB these days.
Those book-styled releases by Electronic Arts are actually very nice - they are more durable, since you don't wear flaps while opening them. Also, after opening the box, to the left is always some backstory and introduction of authors (including photo) - great way to give credit to people who worked on the game, instead of just listing them on the last page of the manual no one cares about.
Great points. I’m working on the next video and it’s the same style. I didn’t realize they all had the developers on the inside flap.
Looks like a Star Control 2 clone, never heard of this game before.
It’s similar, but with more emphasis on trading and commerce.
Its really good. I thnk the guys that made SC2 must have played this.
Yeah it’s the other way round. SFII came out before the first star control.
the box art also must have been different between regions, because the msdos box i have, has the same art as the amiga box in your video. quick check online, confirms (wikipedia), that it is the european box artwork.
Ah, thanks for clarifying.
I like that even though your copy is missing the metal pin, you still mention and show it in the video. Thumbs up !
Thanks 😊 It seems to be pretty rare.
how they managed to forget to add a save function to this game, i still don't understand. still a hefty price for the 'worst' star trek game.
For sure. Price and game quality don’t seem to have much of a relationship when it comes to collecting.
Great video! Remember when this game got released.... Instant classic and must have for every serious collector!
Yep 💯 I wish I had the first Monkey Island game in the collection as it’s my favourite, but 2 was great too.
Awesome game and that box cover art looks just amazing! Have this in my collection as well. Future grail piece i.m.o.
Nice! We need more modern Wolfenstein 😀
glad to have been recommended this
Welcome!
Cool channel idea!
Thanks!
uuuhmmm... looks like you forgot to put the floppies back in the box 😄
Busted!
Very nice collection! I too collect Big Box PC Games! Greeting from Canada and happy collecting!
Thanks (from one Canadian to another) 😀🇨🇦
@@mastergametheatre Haha nice! Good to meet you! Great series! I myself have over 2K Big Box PC Games! All North American copies!
Another fun fact, a sequel to Star Control 2 is in the works! Featuring the two original developers, Fred Ford and Paul Reiche III! As the Star Control name is nowadays owned by Stardock, it's under a new name Free Stars, with the sequel being called Free Stars: Children of Infinity
Thanks for adding that. I knew there was a history with who owned the name, but haven’t kept up with the latest developments. I’ll have to check out Free Stars.
Back when you bought a game, half the fun was looking at all the stuff you got in the box along with it!
The more stuff the better!
I played a ton of Star Control on a Demo PC at Sears as a kid.
Haha awesome. Someone at Sears knew what was good.👍
@ Yes they did :)
Charming... I like your unboxing style alot, another nice thing is those boxes are fully complete, so one can use your videos for reference. And you even took the time to read included lorebooks in some of your videos aloud, which is a nice feat really. Big thumbs up !
Thanks a lot!
Ah, my first flight simulator! Could never beat the campaign. Loved the manual, tho. I tried to cite it for some school paper one time, I think, but my mom shot that down (no pun intended). 😂 Thanks for the shot of nostalgia!
Lol, that’s great. Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing! Great memories!
The manual alone is worth the purchase!
Bloody hell, this has brought back memories...it is still probably in the attic somewhere.
The nostalgia is real :)
That book alone was worth the money I paid for the game (and the game was fine indeed) Actually it's still in my bookshelves in 2024, next to SWOTL...
Awesome, both are fine games!
Amazing, they wrote an entire book and put it in the box!
I love how the game is only part of the experience. Learning history was also pat of what you got.
@@mastergametheatre They were good times, any decent game used to come with a tome.
I have always wanted to get my hands on this game.
What number of "The Adventurer" is that?
It’s #3
This, Day of the Tentacle and Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders were my favorites. Oh the childhood memories. Played them on the Commodore 64.
Hi, Im about to start a series of docu videos on adventure games, starting with Maniac Mansion. Im looking for some help with fact checking, and review mostly. Still working on the script, but it gets almost impossible to find experts on this game
I am definitely not an expert on Maniac Mansion. I was more into the Sierra adventure games back in the day than the LucasArts games. Best of luck with your series!
Yes, people who played all the other Ultima games thought you know what would make the next game better platforming and we will make it so terrible that if you don't have pixel perfect precision you will fall in the water and die instantly, what were they thinking
💯
can't be that many copies of that complete in the box still around
they had to add 5$ onto the price to cover the cost of that manual
I can remember going to the store and buying this when it first came out
Thanks for your video... Love to explore the goodies in the boxes with you! 🥰
Great game. My Mix 'n Mojo spinner wasn't nearly that pristine, I played the game too much for that!
A well used copy protection widget is the sign of a good game 🙂
nice The 5.25 inch version seems quite rare and seems to be sold for the most on ebay.
I’m glad it the version I have, as my vintage PC only has a working 5.25 drive 😀
@@mastergametheatre Cool what are the specs of your vintage pc?
Processor: 286/12 mHz Video: ATI Wonder VGA Sound: Soundblaster Memory: 1 MB Monitor: LG Studioworks 15' CRT
@@mastergametheatre nice thats like an 80's/early 90's beast! Imagine if you got a 286/12 in 1985 at release, thats a good 8 years of gaming right there before the 486 or higher became necessary. You can run the floppy version of Day of the tentacle, but Sam and max would need more ram and probably a 386.
Consider doing a video on LucasArts' underrated 90s' classic, The Dig. The memory of that game still lives in my head. ***Edit, I commented before I saw the video, I did not expect to see an ad for the Dig. 😅
I wish I had a copy of The Dig in the collection. It was hugely underrated, I agree!
I managed to convince my parents to get a me my first CD drive and this game for my birthday back in high school. It was only a single speed so the game ran slow but it was cool to see moving video back then.
This game was a FMV bonanza! It made good use of the technology.
Amazing. I spent some dumb money about 20 years ago buying up old box editions of Avalon Hill/Atomic Games products from around the same time as this game (a bit later). There they sit, on the shelf, waiting to be chucked out by whoever draws the short straw to clear out my stuff once I shuffle off.
Haha, I know what you mean. Collections like these are too often just thrown out by those that inherited them. Avalon Hill games are awesome.
That was wicked. Perfect condition as well! Do you have SWotL (Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe)? I loved that one.
Duh, just found it.
Nice nostalgic look back. Back in the day before RUclips (1995 ish) I used to do game reviews for a local Cable show called "The Computer Program". The first game I reviewed was Rebel Assault. The host had made a promise to a LucasArts rep that a review would appear on his show. That then fell to me (2 Years Later). At the time there was no way to capture game footage, so I had to aim a camera at the screen and attempt to play the game. I still have the review and I'm thinking about posting it in my channel. In fact, you know what, I'm going to. Give me some time and I'll make the transfer. You can see how we did it in the dark times. LOL.
That’s a great story! I would love to see that review. Leave a link here or something. 😃 I have fond memories of old local cable shows like that. We had some in my area that are classics.
@@mastergametheatre Here you go. I did 7 reviews 5 are on a tape format that I don't have a machine for (Broadcast Umatic AKA 3/4 inch tape). 1. Rebel Assault * 2. Full Throttle 3. Police Quest: SWAT 4. Phantasmagoria 5. Mortal Kombat 3 6. Hexen * 7. Duke Nukem 3D I'm going to see if I can salvage Hexen. ruclips.net/video/8ij2DZeqLk4/видео.html
@@mastergametheatre Just head over to my channel to see the game review. I did 7 reviews, 5 that are trapped on a tape format that I don't have a machine for any more. 1. Rebel Assault* 2. Full Throttle 3. Police Quest - SWAT 4. Phantasmagoria 5. Mortal Kombat 3 6. Hexen* 7. Duke Nukem 3D I just salvaged Hexen.
Even as a kid I thought to myself, what kind of name is Rookie One?
The missing kid from Bionic Six?
Haha right?
I loved this game as a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia hit!
I hate those cardboard sleaves, can really scratch up the disk. Just shell out for a jewel case lucasarts lol. Otherwise a nice big box with great box art.
They used those quite a it. Sam & Max has one too.
Thank you for these videos! So many good memories :)
