Music ◈ Art ◈ Printmaking
Mostly known for fronting the alt/rock indie band The Velvet Ants, as well as a couple other music projects and making some art along the way.
During the pandemic, I really got into printmaking, so you'll find a lot of those videos here. I find it to be very therapeutic for anyone interested in trying.
I also started making music again and put together a DAWless home recording studio that I tinker with when I have the time.
Thanks for visiting.

@@whitesquirrel1374 Thanks!
I see an elephant, I love this! Very effing cool bro, very cool
@@welcometorenland Thank you so much 🙏
This is seriously sick. I never knew you could do something like this! The final result was epic and I could actually see that being sold for at least a few hundred. How did you discover this art form?
@kamileon8320 Thanks so much! I started out doing relief prints using a brush and then tried gel printing with a spatula to start.. which led to using rulers and silicone brushes and whatever else I can find to experiment with. It has been a very therapeutic experience.
Cool art and music
@@anapaulaflores1822 🙏
Hi from Philly, PA! I just found you, and am really diggin this style you have going on- it’s the first time I’ve ever seen this way of printing and it’s really freakin cool! Love love LOVE these heart print ones!! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍
Oh, thank you so much! There are a few more heart clips on my channel somewhere. I made a few gel prints as well as a linoleum print. Thank you for checking this out. 🙏
@ sweet I’ll be checking out the rest of your shorts!
Is that wood? I’m so confused right now. In a good way, just curious I guess. I love the print! Is there a name for this process?
@Skateordine Hey, thanks. This is a process called dark field monoprinting using a gel plate (or more simply gel printing.) So, instead of carving images into wood, metal or linoleum (then pulling a print) the paint or ink is added and removed using brushes or stencils. I'm not sure if that's even more confusing. 😅
@@ianmargolycz fascinating! It didn’t look familiar to me, so I figured I’d ask. I like the print. Nice work.
@Skateordine Thanks, still experimenting.
Wow
Pretty damn neat but I kind of liked just the paint swirls at the beginning more!
I might have to try more of those
That's cool!
@@chillbro2275 Thanks!
That looks cool!!!
Thank you!
We might like one with purples and neon green

Thank you! Hard to tell how some of these are going to turn out sometimes.

Also noch billiger geht’s kaum….
I'll have to buy a silicone brush. I'm always looking for new ways to use my gelli slab.
@@DrProfessorMD Definitely give it a try. I started out with rulers and spatulas. The silicone brush works very smoothly and gives some cool looking gradients.
That looks so cool!
@Emma_Bones Oh, thank you! 😊 Trying to learn how to control it better, but it's a very satisfying technique.
😊 thats neat like it 😊
@@KellyMHansenHall-um8xi Thank you 🙏
A 4 year old could do that finger painting
@@smeagolalltheway Who said they couldn't?
@@ianmargolycz well of a 4 year old can do that.... maybe you should try some big boy art and put on some big boy pants......

Great music choice love the trees
Nice work! I notice a Tascam recorder to the side of your R24; do you prefer one over the other? How many tracks did you use on the R24?
@stanleyb3671 Hey, thanks! The Tascam DP-008 was my go-to recorder when not using a DAW for many years. Even took me a while to do any full recordings on the Zoom because the Tascam just felt and sounded better to me. But, after running a few sound tests I found that the Zoom was actually clearer overall. Plus, it has several other features and effects that the Tascam doesn't. For this track (if I can remember) I used: 1 stereo track for the drum machine 2 rhythm guitar tracks panned 2 main vocals panned 2 additional vocal tracks panned 2 lead rhythm guitars panned 1 bass track 1 or 2 synth tracks So probably 12 or 13 tracks, maybe.

What is it gonna be
Don't say art 😭
Art

Koi fish
It's looks great, but why this specific approach?
Not really sure. I just decided instead of carving or using a gel plate I'd try using the board as a plate. Usually I use a spatula to move the paint around but that wasn't working here, so I decided to experiment.
@@ianmargolycz very cool. I like how you line them up too. They would fit really well in frames
@@booterfly6367 Thanks so much. I like some order with my chaos. 😊
This is sweet
Thanks man. I gotta seal the board next time. The ink was absorbing into it. Kind of a cool effect though.
awesome, got mine yesterday..just need to fix it, clean and so, easy fix. Awsesome synth..looking forward to playing around with it, just sorry it does not work with batteries ( spring is broken, can't find a replacement :( )
Nice, hope you get it working!
@@ianmargolycz 2 days, still no luck, cant figure it out..probably the spring :D but we eill see..you got the white, looks nice, I got black one..works with the adapter so at least that :D it is awesome
@goksicar91 Sounds like a tricky repair. You'd probably need a soldering gun to attach the spring properly (if replacing it). At least you have the adapter though that's a plus!
Love this
Sounds great! Are the drums one of the included loops? One of the kits?
Thanks Joe! I used an Alesis SR-16 here.
