5.1 & 5.3: Discrete Uniform Distribution | Exercise Solution of Probability & Statistics by Walpole
This is the exercise problem solution of a Chapter number 5, "Some Discrete Probability Distributions " from 9th edition of "Probability and Statistics for Engineers and Scientists by Walpole". In this video, I solved exercise problems 5.1 and 5.3 to discuss the fundamental probability concepts of discrete uniform distributions and explained the conceptual over of a discrete uniform random variable.
5.1: A random variable X that assumes the values x1, x2,...,xk is called a discrete uniform random variable if its probability mass function is f(x) = 1
k for all of x1, x2,...,xk and 0 otherwise. Find the mean and variance of X.

where does 3 dimes and 5 coins came it is not given in question
Thanks sir
Keep posting sir
Thank you 😊
2.35 can also be done like out of 9 houses select 6 houses which will be on one side of the street i.e 9C6 ways. then ways to places these 6 houses on one side is 9C6*6! and finally the remaining three houses can be placed on the other side of the street in 3! ways. so the final answer becomes: 9C6*6!*3! = 9!
Q 4.34...?

why do we use cdf and not simply just integrate it on 6 to infinity?
part c of this question is so fucking annoying
Please discuss if i can help
sir why we are not solving this question using combination formula?
Kindly make vedios for chapter 4 and 5 complete, thanks
well explained👍
sir can you please complete chapter 4 as soon as possible because exams are starting with in 8 to 9 days. so please try to complete chapter 4 as soon as possible
