So awful to see the level of deforestation. Peoples of any country, it seems, never realise the devastating effects of deforestation until it is far too late. You would think that the government would try and ensure the tourist industry would benefit more lives financially, rather than letting the impoverished resort to tactics like mining. It obviously doesn't provide much of a reward, seeing as they stay in an impoverished state. If Bhutan can charge tourists a huge environmental impact fee on a daily basis, impose strict environment laws on all of their visitors, maintain a high quality environment without exploiting it and benefit their people all at the same time - then it's a system that clearly works. Bhutan has less visitors, but since they pay a far greater cost for a holiday there, it all balances out - and the Bhutanese people certainly don't have to scrabble about up to their necks in mud all day!

Instead of planting disease prone poplar trees why not plant native Chinese tree Paulownia or sometime called Empress tree.Paulownia is a very fast growing and able to be harvested in 10 years . Very impressed with Chinas people made great effort to plant so many trees ,well done .A good video but very short and the music was far too loud.

In 20 years, we will hear stories of China trying to control its massive rabbit overpopulation problem. The CCP would solve the desertification problem a lot faster if they would give individual farmers (free of charge) ownership of large plots of land to earn a profit from that land in any way that makes the best sense to the farmer. If farmers are incentivized to improve the land because they own it and can keep the profits, then they will find a way to care for the land and make it productive. But this would be too capitalistic and too sensible for the CCP to agree to it. The CCP would basically have to admit that communism should be dumped into the trash bin of history.

All it takes is water. Spray water with rain guns and you're done. Local fauna with automatically take over. These fancy games are not sustainable.
