Avon valley railway end of season gala 3rd November 2024
Avon valley railway end of season gala featuring visiting GWR 1450 tank plus N.C.B. No 7 and industrial 4015 karel. Timetable did not go to plan and a water issue arose at one of the water towers at the end of the line resulting in 31130 having to run light engine to rescue the stranded coaches and number 7. Most steam traffic was taken out and only the 1450 and auto coach was running along with 31130 until that chucked in the towel as well.

I was in Bridgwater on Saturday but couldn't stay for the carnival. Brilliant to see it, next best thing to being there! Thank you.
That would give Disney world a run for it's money absolutely fantastic float's 😮
@@brennanj48 Bridgwater carnival has always been a fantastic display of colour and with today’s technology it’s just getting better and better the days of traditional lightbulbs have gone and now on the LED lights which has cut costs for the clubs on the generator hire costs as a smaller generator will do the job now meaning more money can be put into there entire entry and it is definitely paying off. Best carnival in the world
Sorry you don’t need the music
@@Indycar9 unfortunately the music comes with the display always has the music with the display been happening for many years on that and these days the display is set with the music
huh, t'rainbow, are these the nuclear flasks? what's at crew coal sidings now then?
Nice sound. 👍 I didn’t see the fast passenger train coming... But 2 locomotives for 3 cars..? 🤔
They have to have 2 locos for insurance purposes because of what they are carrying is serious contents and they voyagers really caught me on the hop but bonus to it was the rainbow was on the back one
Wow I'm the first view? How cool is that.
@@Louis-4u2c really cool ain’t it something different
Superb
@@RAILTravelers thank you
Carlisle is one of those places where there's always something happening or going to happen. I go there a lot when heading down to England and often build in extra time there between connections.
@@Clivestravelandtrains this is why I enjoy Carlisle because of the variety
Hi from coach B...Great capture, it was an epic trip!
Glad you had a epic time behind these 20s and thank you for
Nice one Simon, thx for the updates earlier
@@swearingkevo no problem mate only way you could find the locations of these was by me being further down the line luckily real time decided to start working again in time for the steams but perfection is a definite and look forward to watching yours once it’s out
Wow HST???
Nice
Nice vid Simon, shame about the sound issues at the start
@@swearingkevo thank you Kev nice seeing you yesterday too
I went in the Saturday. The 150 event was amazing. There was so much to see and do. They really went all out. The Furness No. 20 was magnificent. But I also had a soft spot for the Marston, Thompson and Evershed No. 3. Love this video. Great footage of Sir Nigel Grealey as well. 😀
Thank you two engines I probably won’t see again anytime soon now that’s for sure and they was really good to see and the brunels as well set the scene even more
Great video. It was certainly a fun day out on the sea wall yesterday! First there was a XC service working the "wrong" line (first time I've seen that happen in person), then Sir Nigel stopping at a signal, a HST Castle set and then the Red Arrows! I was celebrating a year in Teignmouth this weekend and it's a wonderful place to call home.
I have to agree with you that Teignmouth is a nice place to live has that feeling to it when I was there Saturday and I seen the xc service running wrong line and Nigel gresley stopping which caught me off guard for sure
I've been to Teignmouth before. It's an absolutely gorgeous walk along the beach and a fantastic place to see trains going by.
@@ph4ntomtr4in I can’t agree any more with you on that one it’s such a lovely walk and it’s so chilled out there as well and is definitely perfect for some good photo shots of the trains along there as well like Iv achieved here
@Simonwebberpastpresentrailways A shame I didn't know about Sir Nigel Gresley this weekend. I was at Kidderminster at Severn Valley Railway seeing their 1940's event.
Nice vid Simon , your getting about this week on your week off
@@swearingkevo yep not wasted any time this week making most of getting out and today is the last day for going about rest time now before going back to work next week
Very nice, and a bonus of a Castle set. Thanks for putting the numbers down as well.
@@stuartbroome1258 thank you Yh passed the castle set at Exeter st David’s and seen it’s working back to Penzance at lunch time and definitely a catch as I don’t see them often and the numbers are easy and makes it easier for viewers like yourself know which ones it is thank you for your feedback
Great video, nice to of met you yesterday 👍🏻
@@simonmiller1805 cheers Simon was great meeting you yesterday was a cracking day and the weather we seemed to of got away with too
Some excellent shots here Thank you.
Thank you very much
Awesome
Thank you ☺️
SUPER:))
A busy day!
Yep busy two days in one video
Seen myself quite a few times throughout the video. Great footage 👍. Was a good gala too with a nice choice of locos.
Thank you made yourself famous then eh
Nice clip Would you be interested in having your shot included in a 'Steam Driver's Eye View' program that we are making?
Yh that would be great thank you for asking and thank you for the comment too
@@Simonwebberpastpresentrailways Hi Simon. Thank you for your support. Would you be able to send the original file? Kind Regards. David

Very totally awesome trains
Thank you
@@Simonwebberpastpresentrailways your welcome
Excellent. This was the Monday of the gala. I worked the station platform on Friday and Saturday and it was so much busier than this. Hundreds of people at a nowhere station (the smallest on the line). Usually, six trains per day... gala: 26 trains per day. Last job every day, pick up the litter... except... WOW, there wasn't any !!!! Amazing. Now it's time to cut the grass - again.
Nice one Simon , I got them in bristol
Thank you Kev nice to see 4 37s in one day on two different charters makes a change from the 47s too even though 47828 was on the back of the first one
@@Simonwebberpastpresentrailways apparently the green 37s were put on instead of a class 40 that failed yesterday
@@swearingkevo interesting to know that certainly not complaining at that though looked fantastic In the sun too shame the 40 failed but at least it failed before todays trip
Good video, was there too!
Thank you very much will be there again on Monday so keep a eye open for my next video of this from Tuesday onwards

Your welcome
It is a great shame that here in the so called 'Affluent' part of Surrey that this community sprit is missing, our loss.
It’s a shame as they could put something on like this
Fair play to the people of Bridgewater! An amazing turn out of floats that were just superb. The effort that must have gone into all of this is phenomenal! I'd hate to think what the insurance costs were but who cares because that was worth watching.
The insurance to the clubs and the carnival committee to put this on is really high but it always gets achieved thanks to the generous donations each year across the carnivals which helps pay for these things and grants on top helps as well and always pays for itself with the amazing fantastic carnival entries
Amazing what these people have achieved in this so called time of financial ''cost of living crisis'' Full marks to the folks of Bridgewater.
All down to the fundraising events they do through the year and membership and sponsorship as well all helps pay for there entries and they seem to be getting better and better every year now and the effects are better with the spray painting and LED lighting and Iv seen cart builds on RUclips recently from a bare metal frame all the way to this fully built entry and it is amazing how it comes together and the engineering as well makes it better
Certainly grown since I last saw it in 1958.@@Simonwebberpastpresentrailways
What is in them flasks?
Hi @stevehull787 the flasks hold nuclear waste from the power station it’s the rods that hold all the radioactive waste and is held in a big flask which is then craned into the lorry holder taken to the train and onto the wagon then taken away to sellafield for disposal
Excellent video. Was very interesting watching the flasks being positioned and shunted around. As for the TPE 68, i had wondered how long it would be before one ended up on a freight. Hopefully more will follow after December. Regards, Colin.
Hi Colin it did not take them long at all to chuck them on a freight that is for sure and now up Carlisle way there is another TPE 68 on RHTT as well so DRS are certainly not messing about but something different for a change
Great footage , I do like the flask trains you covered it well there and Royal Scot Wasn’t hanging around either , I got both these in Bristol but got slightly bowled for the kettle but Hay-ho it happens
Thank you Kev it makes the video more interesting with some of the shunting moves as well as the arrival and departure and we had so many people in Bridgwater today just to see 68019 then more came for royal scot as well so a good crowd and she was not messing about and the driver had it about him with the whistle too
some gems there, nice to hear. Interesting to see the diesel loco start up.
