Hi James, thanks for sharing, it’s very useful video! Is your R56 a JCW?
@@Fahmifcs No, it’s an “S” which has a turbo but not a much horsepower as the JCW and different brakes.
Sound is too low when you works on the key
What brand is your multimeter?
@@Fahmifcs Woods
Thanks for the video. The fact a car company finally added compartments in the skid plate or whatever it is called is a long time coming. Side note, a couple of vehicle ramps are spectacular for oil changes, especially on the MINIS, though my 2011 Coupe is a bit low, but I make it work.
I don’t wanna jack anywhere near my transmission oil pan!!!! Like the mini Cooper has jack points. This video should be removed from RUclips. It’s dangerous.
@@Rezellen don’t work on a car if you’re not sure what to do. I didn’t say jack on the transmission oil pan, I said on the subframe which is between the control arm and the transmission oil pan, don’t jack on the oil pan. There is not a lot of room on the bottom of the car. Yes, you can jack from the jack points, but if you want to put jack stands on the jack points you have to hold the car from a second location, ie, the subframe, eg, sometimes one needs to move the suspension around to remove shocks. It’s best to have two points holding up the car so that if one point fails, the other point still holds up the car, and no one gets hurt. If you can’t locate the subframe check out other videos for clarity.
Transmission oil pan what is going on here?
Muchas gracias 😅😅
Thanks for the upload. Now I can swap out my arb bushes
Right?!? I’m a girl and I’ve been working on my mini Cooper a lot lately and I’m wondering if I should have my own channel where I’m like a check with my mini Cooper because I know everything about cars and if I don’t, I’ll figure it out
You supposed to jack you car bf you activate it
Thanks for the tip!
you and I have the same car ... color, wheels, etc. ... will that annoying message about needing an oil change go away after I run the oil measurement test? did you ever make a follow-up video for doing the oil filter, too?
@@DanMars27 to get rid of the reminder, you need to tell the car’s computer you did the oil change, e.g. using BimmerLink, see video, or other scan tool, filter is easy, just go to dealer and buy filter for you specific car, it screws off from the bottom of the car engine accessible from the second opening near the drain plug
@@jamesgarage4327 thank you ... giving it a go this weekend
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS.
That’s interesting bc it’s my most popular video, should probably give up working on cars if you can’t follow
You don't show shit!!!
Thank you for all the information, bought a used MiniS for someone I barely knew so she can go to school and work , you want more views ???? Just don’t includes all the lefts ideology ( on the wall ) politically I will probably be on your opposite. But I did learn from you, thanks
That’s so nice of you! They are my wife’s posters, I’m more middle of the road type of guy, need to live together in harmony, we’re family
I have BimmerCode. Changed the jbe now no heated seats. Can I program it?
Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
What is the tool u used to take the in rod out???

is there a code for the fob, where you keep pressing the lock function and the windows and sunroof close?
I don’t have a sun roof so I’m not sure?
Hello, excellent video, I want to ask if the forward lights can be modified to LED as well? Thank you
I think so but depends on the setup, I have the xenon lights and couldn’t find a good led replacement
@@jamesgarage4327 thank you so much
Lens ? Mirror ? K7C 150W 4300k best bulb led
Thanks excellent video
So what changes did you make ?
Mainly the LED conversion for the rear tail lights, the gas warning low amounts, and the time to turn lights off after locking the car
What color are the wires for the sensor, some cut them out
Sorry don’t know, but next time I’m in that location, I’ll check because you’re the second person to ask. Maybe someone doing the job can post the wire colors and voltage/order
hi, can you please tell me how to check the real km of a Mini using bimmercode or bimmerlink?
Sorry- don’t know the answer to that question
I own a 09 jcw clubman.. I’ve pretty much done all of these mods outside of the aem intake only because they are so damned expensive. Maybe one day in the future though.
I don’t think it’s necessary to get the AEM version. Just as long as the hood scoop blows air over into the engine bay and the one can funnel/pick up the air. The AEM version seems like it would reduce engine bay heating the air, but not sure how much of a difference it makes. AfePower.com has a version I was considering.
go turbo blanket over heat shield (the shield makes the valve cover brittle /warp or actually melt in some cases and yes I have the same one but have upgraded to an aluminum valve cover because of it) agree with tires, intercooler, filter (intake optional and totally not necessary unless tuning ecu) I’d add rear sway bar to go with those coilovers to reduce body roll and understeer. Also adjustable rear control arms with a proper alignment (needed with coilovers anyway) to correct the tire eating problem in the back. A nice cheap upgrade is to delete the junk plastic noisemaker on the factory piping to pick up some throttle response. Best bang for your buck after that is get the ecu tuned for the modifications if that’s allowed in your area. Major improvement even if you don’t modify anything at all (aka “stage 1 tune”)
@@NickTheSheep1379 car is up for sale at the moment
@@NickTheSheep1379 I’m thinking of adding the turbo blanket - historically concerned with fire issue if oil leaks. When I recently fixed a leaking oil housing/gasket leak, I also changed the engine to turbo oil feed (to steel braided) line that should address oil leak concern.
@@jamesgarage4327 I mean realistically you should smell it and see the smoke before the fire… which would likely start with or without a blanket on it. I don’t know of anyone personally that’s had that happen since the lines pass through a fairly large opening in the forge blankets and it’s very fire retardant. The shield should go away once the blanket is on Don’t think it would clear anyway unless you used longer bolts/ spacers.
Thanks for the video looking forward to seeing what you got mini thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video! My car is reading 38 degrees C or 106 degrees F outside! It’s cold here so somethings wrong!
Glad to help!
U wasted my time
Jumped from overflow tube. But unclear on how your adding the oil….. through the hole without the tube??
Pump it in the drain hole, see my other video on checking the fluid level.

Car running when checking fill level plug!
Does this work on 2019 toyota tundra? Is it able to update via wifi
Toyota is an option and can update by Wi-Fi - wired OBD2 to car. I currently prefer BimmerLink and BimmerCode apps as they have wireless connection to car via iPad, and coding options, but doesn’t have transmission temperature option
Thanks for the video. Just did my 2009 Mini Clubman tranny fluid change. There are two fill locations on the tranny. Remove the driver side wheel and peel back the center of the wheel well liner and you will notice two 12 mm bolts one on top of another in the center of the tranny. Remove the top bolt it will have an o-ring on it. This is how you know you found a fill location. The 2nd fill location is on top of the tranny adjacent to the starter. Feel for the 12 mm bolt with your hand. Use a box wrench to remove, it is easier than a socket. You can run the car while filling in these locations. To fill, I drilled two holes in a sturdy plastic container's cap. Screwed an air hose male fitting in one hole and cut a 1/4 inch hose at an angle and fed it through the second hole. Set the air compressor to 5 psi. I used a plastic hose adapter from my Mighty Vac kit and screwed into the 12mm bolt hole. The air from the compressor will push the tranny fluid in to the tranny.
You need to do a better job buddy, redo this vid.
I had the same problem with the Range Rover car must be running and at the right temperature.
Hey James! Second post here since I'll be tackling this job this week. How does your transmission feel? I've noticed that when I let off the gas (from cruising at maybe 2-2.5k RPM), the car has a very significant and often jerky slow down. The transmission is fine at downshifting during acceleration, but very jerky when downshifting especially when letting off the gas.
I don’t notice any jerky downshifting, but my wife is the primary driver and she drives it very conservatively.
why not just fill it isnt it bad
bad to flush n put new ? just fill from fill bolt n call it a day
Can't really see under the car at your jack point but none the less it's down there somewhere that you can lift the mini up from center. Mini is so low ... need low ramps to row the car in to get clearance.
James, thanks for the video. Don't you risk pushing a bushing through at that attachment point of the control arm?
You jack on the frame near the control arm - not on the control arm
Seriously, big time you do and you don’t need two jacks to do it. You can do it with the one Jack, which is probably actually it is safer. You don’t want to be jacking with two jacks especially when they’re in perpendicular locations. That’s actually dangerous.
@@Rezellen I’m not sure what you mean, but having two points holding up the car near each other makes it safer so if one fails the other will hold up the car
Was there any trouble at all reaching the adaptor through the drain hole? Was this tricky at all?
Not tricky, see trans fluid leveling video for footage
That not cool that’s why don’t like take my car in I’ve been unlucky with dealership and mechanic
I had many similar experiences - It’s totally worth doing things yourself
where did you get the adapter?

Same too wasted my time
Hey buddy a question do you knownthe color code on this 2 wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Ice blue. My r55 clubman was the same color
It doesn’t even show what the air sensor even looks like? You need to show what the pieces look like.
If you go to your car and check it, it will probably look like a sensor in your hand.
