Dalene McDonald - McDonald's Sewing & Vacuum
США
Добавлен 7 дек 2018
This is the video channel for McDonald's Sewing & Vacuum, located in Arkansas City, and Wichita, Kansas. We offer videos on how to use PFAFF, Husqvarna Viking, and Singer sewing and embroidery machines, accessories, and feet. We also offer The Grace Co.'s Q'Nique quilting machines and frames. Our videos are sometimes a little goofy and always homemade, but we hope to offer good help to our customers.
Hemming Jeans
Dalene demonstrates how to hem jeans. She's using the Husqvarna Viking Opal 670. However, this technique works on most of the Husqvarna Viking and PFAFF machines we carry in the McDonald's Sew & Vac stores.

Is it possible to use other embroidery hoops? If yes, which one?
I need a visual of threading through the bobbin winder tension guide. you just zipped through it expertly.
After too many bad camera angles and faulty terminology I switched to Heirloom Creations. If you are feeling frustrated I would suggest going to Sara's clear, upbeat and concise channel.

Aaaargh, help wanted again. Please. The machine is eating my fabric. What did I do wrong? I did clean the machine. But suddenly the are stuck in the bobbin chamber every time...
Great video, thank you very much😊
Absolutely invaluable video! This is like a manual but better! Thank you very much for taking the time to make such a detailed guide.
Hello. I really enjoyed the detailed explanation. Thank you so much. Im looking into buying a new sewing machine and I seem to like this E20. My only concern is that I know with some sewing machines the one step button hole might give problems with thicker fabrics. I wonder if this is also the case with the E20 since it needed the multi purpose tool to help with sewing the layers on the jeans Also I would like to know if the multi tool you used can be bought from Husqvarna agents or online. Thanks
Thank you! Just bought a used machine of this model and had no idea what this piece was for. Now I do!
Thank q MEC Donald mam😊
Very nice. Thank you very much
pls i need help my machine same exact make and model. I am really really frustraded! as i cant find a set of Husqavarna foot presser cheap enough i can afford. Can i use Universal sets of feet presser will that work? with Husqavarna H/Class E20? 🙏🙏
Any universal snap-on foot will work with the e20.
This video is everything!!!! I just got my machine a couple weeks ago and the ladies at the singer experience have been great but, when Im not in a class with them and I run into a roadblock, this video is so informative its beyond amazing and helpful!!! Thank you so so much for your detailed insights!!!! The explanation of the sewing advisor is so helpful!!! Thank youuuu!!
pls help me i need your help
my machine handle by the side isn't moveing
Darlene, I purchased my Jade 20 machine through a Viking (Husqvarna) dealer and received NO, NONE, ZIP, ZERO instruction on how to use the machine. I found your video and THANK YOU for the excellent demo/instruction on its various features. I own an old Viking Designer (that uses floppy disks), an old Sears Kenmore, and a new Bernina. So I am not new to sewing on a machine. BUT each machine is different and has features unique to it. I have found my Jade 20 (a store model) to be noisy. In your video it appears that your machine is much quieter. Is there a place on the Jade that can be oiled or perhaps cleaned to help reduce the ‘noise’? I am fastidious in maintaining my Bernina. Is there something I can do at home to help maintain my Jade? Again, thank you for taking the time and making your terrific video.
Great video i just bought this machine and had no idea what to do thank you
You gave me confidence! But, there is one answer to a question that I am searching for. How do we move the needle position on the Passport 2.0?
Yay! Success! Your video was helpful. I’m looking at my users guide, but it wasn’t clear to me what the buttonhole lever was that I was supposed to lower down. Seeing you do it made all the difference. Maybe I’ll go a little buttonhole crazy like you. It’s as easy as falling off a bike once you know what you’re doing. Lol!😂
Im fairly new to sewing and this is a amazing video i loved the close ups and she explained it is such a comforting way
Around the 6:20 mark you recommend getting a little plastic tool. What is the name of that tool? Thanks for these incredible, informative videos!
Thank you for the detailed explanation, I finally learned to properly thread and set bobbin the right way.. )
Glad I could help!
Yes, those needle threaders are great, but, I wish I knew beforehand that the needle threader does NOT work for some needles, although I never tried to thread a narrow eyed needle, but I broke mine, which broke my heart, but such as it is. I bought a needle threader so I won't have to spend the money to get mine fixed right now. I have the Creative Icon, so it's probably expensive, can't do that right now.
Don't you need to put something over top of the towel because of the nap????? Years ago, that's the way I was taught, things may have changed this is why I ask.
This is OK but not completely helpful. She threads the machine almost automatically and totally missed the take up lever. I had to look that up in another video.
I didn’t miss the take up lever, but am sorry I went too quickly for you.
I love this machine but he says sometimes E 2 and up. What does that mean and what can I do to fix it?
It means the motor is working too hard and needs to rest a minute. Are you working with thick fabric or many layers?
Thank you so much. Enjoyed this teaching again.
Hi, I have this machine, and it suddenly won’t do anything except turn the light on. No sound when you press on the control foot at all. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Do any of the buttons work? If so, try unplugging the foot control and plugging it back in. If that does not work, I'm afraid you'll need to take it to your local dealer.
@@lizzlepoo Thank you for your response. I switched out the foot pedal with one of my Singer machines, and it seems to be working now. Thanks again.
Thank you for the demo. I don't use a lot of binding because it is a pain in the butt (for me). But I may get this foot and use more binding because I think it finishes the seams nicely. And I want to make napkins, so it will come in handy.
Tank you
Someone gave this machine to me a few days ago and i am so excited to try it out. We sold our farm and everything we had to travel so i had to start over with all my fabric and notions. Fabric has gotten so expensive now. Great video.
Excellent vidéo .. I’ve had my Jade now for over a year and I’ve learned so much from your video .. thank you …
Thanks for the video really interesting
Molto chiaro, grazie
Grande! Prego.
Thank you so much Dalene for your videos. Just bought this machine last week and had an issue. I tried sewing jeans with jean thread, which is thicker than normal thread, and the machine would jam and the thread was getting stuck all the time. I returned it to the store yesterday and tried it with the store agent. We realized the machine would work well with a normal thread but not with thicker thread. I was a bit disappointed and would like your opinion about that. I used to have an old Singer machine and didn't have issues with thicker thread. Is this normal?
It was probably the needle. Did you try a topstitch needle? I'd recommend a size 120. However, if you're planning to use this machine mainly for sewing jeans, you might try an industrial machine like a Consew or a Juki. We sell a Consew that might be perfect for you: www.mcdonaldsvacuums.com/shop/Sewing/Sewing-and-Embroidery-Machines/Consew/p/Consew-Portable-Commercial-ZigZag-Walking-Foot-Machine-x67615104.htm. We have financing available if you need that - let me know. I don't have a video on this machine yet, but will try to get one up soon.
Super! Thank you for sharing. I met you today and was very impressed with you professionism and care. I hope to do more.
I would like to say thank you, for doing this video it as helped me understand my new machine. I wish you could show me to unjam my machine after sewing a bit to thick fabric. ( only saw your voids after) I took bobbin out ( Husband came on seen😖 like a little boy with a toy) and pulled it all out. Have tried to put it back, but tension a it lose.
I wish I could help you too!
Wich thread do you recommend?
I use a 40 weight polyester thread for most things. I use Exquisite or Robison-Anton, but Glide, Isacord, or Aurafil are all good quality threads.
@lizzlepoo I am from Holland so now I bought gutermann! Seems good quality!
@@janetburer1316 gutermann is good!
Thank you, Darlene. And also for your explanation of the husqvarna jade 20! Helps a lot!
Exactly
شكرا لك شرحك واضح ارجو ان تترجم الى اللغه العربيه لاني لم افهم كثيرا وانا احب ان افهم على كل الازرار لاني امتلك هذا جهاز
My mom keeps having trouble with the stitching on her Jade 35. Instead of making a normal straight stitch it wants to gather instead. Any suggestions to fix this issue?
I would check the thread tension. It should probably be between 3 and 5. Also, the stitch length can matter. If she has a really long stitch, it might try to gather. For a straight stitch on medium woven fabric, the stitch length is set to 2.5. I hope this helps.
Hola ! Puedes dictarme un curso presencial?
¿Puedes venir a una de nuestras tiendas? Tenemos uno en Wichita, KS y otro en Arkansas City KS. No hablo español, pero ¿pueden traer un traductor?
I just inherited this machine and wasn't sure where to start, really helpful. Thank you! :)
Glad I could help!
So glad I found this tutorial since I was just gifted a Passport 2.0 from my sister. :)
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! So very helpful. I’ve inherited a slightly used Passport 2.0 from my mother-in-law who quilted for years. I only received the machine-no manual, no foot control, no accessories. It’s been years since I’ve done sewing, so your video has been a lifesaver and time saver for me! Thanks so much!
Thank you! I just found this machine at goodwill for 10 and I wanted to see how to use before jumping in.
Thanks!
Your videos sold me on this machine, my hubby bought me one and I'm in love
Thank you that was very helpful and laid things out very well. I’m new to this machine so I don’t know if I’m off base asking this but, does this machine automatically do a lock stitch at the start and finish?
It does a lock stitch automatically at the beginning. You can turn that off in settings if you want. You need to press the fix button to have it perform a lock stitch at the end.
@@dalenemcdonald-mcdonaldsse8689 thank you so much 👍
Dalene, where can I get a copy of the stitches from the book as I can not find my manual. Thank you
