cute. Most cockateils hate direct sunlight. They need some place to find shade. Areas near windows are a BIG NO. The drafts will scare them. Temperature needs to be between 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. They can get cold and very hot easily depending on the temperature. Mine love fresh kale, cilantro stem and leaves, dill stem and leaves, broccoli, broccolini, carrot, red part watermelon. Always give these fresh because they spoil very quickly by the end of the day and need to be thrown out. If you see their poop looking flat and acidic this is really bad. Fresh Watermelon and cilantro really help with digestive issues. Their poop area needs to be cleaned every day or it could contribute to both respiratory and digestive issues. The watermelon and carrot are rich in Vitamin A which is beneficial for the respiratory system. Give at least once a week. In addition give fresh water and seeds daily. If you they are pregnant they need a good source of calcium, carrot, seeds etc...If you live in the US, zupreem added vitamins and minerals pellets are a good addition. We as bird owners need to be attentive to their every need. If they appear lethargic for extended periods of time and sit perched in the corner of the cage not being their regular cheerful self this is bad. You must take to vet. If they are breathing through their mouths with their mouths open you need to take to vet. If they have xanthomas/masses forming on any part of their body don't wait take them to the vet for removal as soon as you see one. Also make sure ALL areas near the cockateils are clean of any debris harmful substances (like sugar, salt, coffee, metals, christmas tree decorations, glitter, etc...) They are known to pick things up from the ground, if they ingest any of these things they will get stomach problems and can die. You have to be very observant with your bird (their surroundings, what they are ingesting, etc...) Sometimes this can be paint from the walls, or cardboard boxes from Amazon which might have pesticides sprayed in it for covid 19. Don't give or keep them close to any of these things!
