I wonder if the Haldas New Market in the video was associated with Haldas Meat Market that was at Foulk and Silverside Roads
some captions and history would have been nice.
Quite the demographic change from then to now.
Grew up in delaware. Now in Philly 💗🙏🔔

That automotive radiator company was / is located in New Castle, isn't it, Basin Rd. and Christiana Rd.? About 25 years ago I had a gas tank replaced there, if so.
Thank you for everything Bob! Here’s a little something for fun: ruclips.net/video/ucIal54_VLw/видео.html
I loved it ... GREAT!!!!! Where's Grossman Electrical in the video? lol
I was born in Wilmington Delaware. Looking for History
@4:49 Andrew MItchell is my grandfather and next to him is my uncle sonny who is still alive . My father is his youngest and still own’s and operates Mitchell mechanical and electrical in Vineland New Jersey. I opened Mitchell mechanical and electrical in south Florida in 2010. The original Andrew E. MItchell and sons opened in 1926. My grandfather immigrated here from Catania Sicily and changed his name to Mitchell before he opened up.
My Father at 4.44 stil alive 91 years old
Uncle sonny

Thanks lots. 💞
Thank you for producing and sharing. Brings back a lot of fond memories of better days, neat places and great people forever past. Wilmington was home and a great place to live.
my grandmother Sara Jane Hunt was from here and died in 1962. I wish I could find more info on her.

Thanks Ron, glad you enjoyed it, Bob
This was made a "few" years ago, some "guys" are not with the same "gals' anymore, but that's life...not to many of us have gone without having more than one love...I was one of them that had "only" one love for almost 60 yrs., she's gone now but will never be forgotten" Love you Kitty
A few of these guys passed away, Tony Ventresca, Hank Vari, Howie Wise, Pete Grandel, Jimmy Murphy, Ray and Bub Querry, Doc Russo, John McFadden, Tom Galvin, Bob Immediato, Frank Sheehan, Billy Cole, Ron Burcham, Chick Bullen, Ron Janicki, Matt Janicki, Matt Janicki Jr., Gene Igo, Ed and Jesse Malin, (Malinowski), Bob Rozenko, Les Jacobs, Googie Patton , a lot more... I really enjoyed watching this video. Things have really change. Bread was 65 cents back then. Thank You for the upload.
Hello Bob. Is this Bobby LaFazia who was on The Wilmington Fire Department in the 80's? If so, my uncle Herb Doughty introduced me to you in the ealry early to mid 80's at Station 8, 2Nd & West. And I played with Debbie LaFazia on Dupont Street in the early 80's.
What is this music? Sounds like it could be McCoy Tyner, but both Shazam and MooMash are failing me.
I'm 83 and STILL bragin'
Police dressed nerds and cruised in the coolest cars.
the music is great.
Love this! Thanks for sharing it.
Outstanding video. Brings back memories of what Wilmington used to be. I remember Haldas and John's body shop.
Remember California Fruit Market? My grandfather owned it.
Back when it wasnt a shithole
They had full service gas just like NJ. or was it a drug deal like in Baltimore?
Great ride back in time. Thanks for the upload.
All the captions over the video had me reading more than watching. Those were a mistake. And annoying.
:)..
Thanx Harvey, just turn the music down and enjoy... Bob
I like the music, Good Choice!

Bob, You're one of the best photographers ever!
Thanx Bill
Wilmington is pretty rundown now.
@dumnuts1 Care to substantiate that you learned more than myself, who went to St. Thomas in the 1990s? Care to take some comprehensive tests and see who comes out on top? I'll bet you walked 4 miles in the snow as well?
sooooooooooo awsome!!!!!!!!!!
Thanx Joeyla
I think this is really neat. I hope there is more. I worked in WHS. Maybe if you have the time, take the camera down to the schools now and compare the changes. Thank you for letting everyone watch this.
I was ten years old and going to St. Thomas school. The nuns had over 50 kids in a class, but we learned double what kids learn now. We wore uniforms and didn't step out of line. We still had fun, but students' rights, ADHD, ODBD, ADD, using green ink to correct papers, and all the other educational nonsense had yet to be invented. So we actually learned respect, discipline, delayed gratification, algebra, poetry, grammar, spelling, history, geography, and music.
OK boomer
Great video! I love nostalgia. I wish the street names and areas were specified. I am waaay too young too know where most of these places are to compare the area today. That by the way would also be a great video (hint) lol. Thx.
Nice
glad to see my hpme before i was born in fact 20 years before
Same license plates!
I love the images of First and Central and St Anthony's. Wilmington needs a hardcore rennaissance!
