Chasing Sound Book Club - The Advancing Guitarist
Просмотров 102Год назад
Trying something a little new for August. I want to try a book club for Chasing Sound. We'll all grab the same book, talk about it in the Discord, make videos of our progress and more. I'll put up posts on the Chasing Sound blog, on socials and more. This has been without a doubt, my most gifted guitar book over the years. There's so much information jam packed in the book, and Mick doesn't oft...
Between Daylight (Backing Track Version)

Check out the backing track version of my song "Between Daylight". You can use a mix of major and minor pentatonic in the key of C over the entire song, and it'll sound good! If you do create your own video with this backing track, please link back to the original song, which can be found here - ruclips.net/video/gZswqLVCxiQ/видео.html Oh, and if buying music is your thing, check out the track ...

Let's go Devils!!
Heck yeah! Looks like a promising season with all the changes. 😈
Is that a pink guitar? Looks great, same colour as my triumph speed triple 955i in nuclear Red! Think I might have to get a guitar that colour 👍
it's the PRS John Mayer Silver Sky model in the SE version. A great take on a S style guitar with a PRS twist. I've played the heck out of it since I got it.
Beautiful
thank you!
Check out the Conford (Cornfed) and Dirty Shirley amps
👍👍👍
Tremendous! ❤❤❤
Thanks a lot! 👍
How do you get that plural sound towards the end? Hitting both strings?
I actually recorded two tracks of audio before recording the video.
I think my favorite amp is the JM45. I use a Earthquaker Devices Acapulco Gold pedal in front. Sounds pretty sick. Btw clean your FM3 man!
The JM45 is great. I gotta check out that Acapulco Gold pedal. I dig Earthquaker stuff, but I hadn't checked that out yet. My FM3 usually has plastic covers for the screens, but sometimes dust gets in the cracks. haha at least you know it's being used.
We use the FM3 with our feet, so most of us are okay with the fact that it'll look a little dirty and dusty.
@@MarkLumsley lol and I drive my car with my feet but you best believe that I wash that thing regularly.
@@MarkLumsley truth! 😆
I should try a Fractal one of these days. They do seem extremely capable!
You definitely should!!! There’s a ton of great patches I can share with you
Great, informative vid! I love many of the amps but right now the RockerVerb-50 (Orange) is giving me incredible Marcus King tones. The Brit2203 & VoxAC-30 Top Boost are also my go-to's when I'm feeling more creative.
You can do some really magical things with the Vox AC models. Especially when you have a boost or fuzz in front of everything, it gets fun.
🔥
Noel ❤
So cool❤
I like the looks of the stand, but I would like locks on the center column. You collapse the column by pushing down on it. I have a couple of substantial music books (by Jim Beloff), and I suspect they would push it down, If not immediately after some use. I wonder if expanding and collapsing that column is going to decrease the resistance over time. That is the only thing keeping me from buying it.
Yeah, to be honest I was surprised there weren't locks on that center column. That being said, I put a few heavier books on there, and it held up fine. I'll have to check back in, after using the stand for a while, to see that, that center column has stayed sturdy. It feels really well made though!
My stand will arrive on Wednesday.
@@jerrycurtis98 Nice, excited to hear what you think about it.
I love this stand! It's short enough when collapsed to fit into the bag I bring with me to uke events. I put my heaviest songbook on it - a binder holding about an inch of paper, weighing 2 lb 12 oz. With that on the stand, it still needed quite a bit of force to push the column down.
@@jerrycurtis98 Very cool to hear that! Plus if you notice the build quality, it feels like it'll stay that way for a long time.
Nice Performance! ❤
thank you!
Never know you need something like that until you do and it becomes invaluable.
Totally right. I love the portability of this stand. They really did a good job with this product.
wow very awesome, so thought out!
Yeah, it’s a great stand. I love how easy it is to set up and tear down
Very cool. I love the thought that's clearly gone into every aspect of the way it all fits together. But without compromising its actual role as a music stand. Nice!
Yeah man, it's actually pretty wonderful. I wish I had this stand when I was back in music school.
Currently learning this song and this gave me major motivation. Top job man 👏👏
That makes me happy. The tuning was a little crazy. It’s a really fun song to learn
Great work! Wonsering what tuning you used? 😊@@ChasingSoundGuitar
@@Aristeo509 tried to go back to Discord to see what I used. It was basically standard, but I can't remember if it was a little sharp or a little flat. One of those! :)
tabs?m
You know you have 2 other fingers right 😂
Yeah, it’s just most comfortable for me to hit that riff with those two. Been playing it since I was a kid that way 😂
@@ChasingSoundGuitar all good brother. It was tight and that’s what matters. Keep it up
🤘
Awesome man!
Thanks!
Listen man I'm kind of tired, so I'm just going to use speech to text. I just wanted to let you know that I had to look at your website and I really appreciate what you're doing man. because I might play the blues you know, this and that but really all blues is about it's a good person feeling bad and it's about bringing love into the world and peace along with that. You and my new mentor have given me the inspiration to bring peace into the world anyway I can and live as good as I can not only for myself but for my spouse and my family. Amen to that to whatever God anyone worships amen. I've been clean off everything I used to do and I ain't homeless and I got a job. Thank God for that. Thank God for the dozens of tiny encounters with people like you that gave me this strength. I hope you realize that every dollar you contributed had and has just as much of an effect without you knowing the same way it get on me and you didn't give me nothing man. But in the same since you gave me everything. It goes deep. Love you brother. Stay strong and remember why you wake up in the morning.
Wow man, I've been away on a work trip for a couple of days, so I just got home to see this. I'm happy that anything guitar related that I do resonates with you. I'm not making a dime off of any of the videos, newsletters, posts, etc. I do it, because I'd do it no matter what. I have a deep love for the guitar, and music in general has led me to meeting so many amazing people. I know it's a cliche, but music has changed my life in a major way. I wouldn't have met my ex-spouse, or had my kids, or got to know some of my best friends without music. So it really does have a profound effect on people. Any time you ever need anything, just let me know! I'll do what I can. You reminded me though, the newsletter has been going great, but I've let the website go for awhile. I need to put up new stories on there. That's my inspiration for this year.
great stuff
Thanks!
Solid buddy, good shit
Thanks a lot 🤘
Hey it's Halo from your discord. Loving it man. Wish I could grasp rock like that.
Thank you! Would love to see some videos from you too!
@@ChasingSoundGuitar i gotcha! In your dms after I get back from walking to my buddy's house. It's 14 degrees fahrenheit here. Wish me luck.
Nice job, hell yes.
Thanks Cory!
Nice lick
Bro where’s the rest ???
More vids are coming soon! What should I play next?
Very good 🎉
Thanks!
what pedals?
Actually just a patch on the Fractal FM3, but it's been a minute so I forgot which patch.
sounds awesome
Goose is just phish that taste better

👹👹👹🔥🫀
🤘🤘
That sounds better than Noel mate
Haha thanks! 🎸
Awesome stuff, classic song
Thank you, I always loved this song
What setting should I use on a harmoniser for this Sorry I’m a complete idiot when it comes to theory
Good question. When I did this video, I recorded two separate tracks, but only posted video of me playing one. The original riff is an open e and then you play frets 7 and 8 to start on the A string. The harmony part starts with a low E too, but then you play 6th and 7th fret to start on the D string. To answer your question, try a major 3rd on the harmonizer if you don’t want to play both parts
Thanks a lot!
AND I'LL TAKE MY TIME ANYWHERE!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Let’s gooooo! 🤘
Sounds really good man!
Thanks Kyle, appreciate that!
Ive just started learning this 2 days ago. You sound fucking right on
Thanks for that! Hope to see a vid of you playing it soon. 🎸

I only started learning how to play the guitar a little over a month ago & I'm documenting my entire journey on here so watching this was super motivational!
